.... here. Jools & Jamie have had another baby.

Am I being unreasonable (although this is not the AIBU forum) but how ridiculous (or other words I can't think of) are these names?! Buddy Bear takes the whole thing to a new level...

I guess Bud fits in with the flower theme, perhaps the next one will be Stem Grin

Ahhh, who cares... it's a cute baby boy and that's all that matters [broody emoticon]

nikki1978 · 16/09/2010 14:55

I think Buddy is ok actually. I wouldn't use it myself but it is ok as a name. The bear bit is stupid but I am guessing it is a middle name so won't get mentioned much. BO is unfortunate but my sons initials are BJ and I don't really see it as a big deal.

FellatioNelson · 16/09/2010 15:00

Buddy's nic if you like that sort of thing, but Bear? C'mon. But he's famous so it's sort of in the contract.

OneFishTwoFish · 16/09/2010 15:03

My friend has a boy called Bear. He is a gorgeous chunky 17 month old whirlwind and no name could suit him better.

Not so sure about Buddy though...

sharbie · 16/09/2010 15:05

yuk - 2 dogs names

GrimmaTheNome · 16/09/2010 15:08

At least Zowies actual first name was Duncan, so he could revert to that when he grew up.

GrimmaTheNome · 16/09/2010 15:10

Having given the 3 girls twee names, it would have been a bit sexist to give the boy something plain and sensible.

Chil1234 · 16/09/2010 15:11

The trouble is that 'gorgeous chunky 17 month olds' one day have to try to cut it in the adult world. And if they don't go into the porno industry or country & western music then a name like 'Bear' is going to be a handicap. Different when it's a silly family nickname that sticks (Edward Michael Grylls I'm looking at you here) ... at least you could revert to your given names if you were trying to be more formal.

BridesheadRegardless · 16/09/2010 15:13

Oh I didn't know they'd had a boy, how lovely.

Buddy is a great name. I love Sonny and it's along those lines.

I also think indulging yourself in frivolous middle names is a harmless pastime, they're pretty redunant after the initial announcement anyway.

HeadingHome · 16/09/2010 15:13

oh FFS

CheerfulYank · 16/09/2010 15:50

Meh, it's not so bad. Peanut is worse IMO. I call my 3 year old DS Buddy a lot, because he's my buddy. :) (Except when I say something horrible like "no more watching that Lion King DVD," and then he runs away hollering "You're not my friend!")

It could be much much worse. :)

usualsuspect · 16/09/2010 15:53

I like the name Buddy

snugglejunkie · 16/09/2010 16:00

Ok so it's unusual & not what I'd choose, but it fits with his sister's names and like most names, once you get to know someon called it, it becomes more 'normal'.

I reckon they've just decided to bypass the 'proper/conventional' names and gone straight for nicknames.

jujubean · 16/09/2010 16:00

Have you seen the piccies here, oh god I wish I had looked that gorgeous the day after giving birth. Here

LoveBeing · 16/09/2010 16:10

What fab pictures

hattyyellow · 16/09/2010 16:13

I think it's okay as a name, I mean it fits with their family and lifestyle. It could have been a lot more random to fit in with the other floral names. What a lovely family pic too, their girls are so like their mum!

belgo · 16/09/2010 16:16

I think Buddy is fairly normal, for them.

And of course I like animal names so Bear is fine.

anonymousbird · 16/09/2010 16:16

VERY sweet.
Still ridiculous, but how can you not just love those pictures?!?!? Makes the heart sing!

Buddy alone ain't too bad, it's just the muddle with the initials and the middle names and the surname which makes it all a bugger's muddle, or is that a buddy's muggle? EIther way, nearly all is forgiven, now I've seen those photos!

purpleduck · 16/09/2010 16:17

I though she was only just pregnant with her third...is the gestation time for slebs shorter or something....?

:)

schroeder · 16/09/2010 16:25

I like Maurice, he can use that when he's grown up and wants to be a high court judge.

There's no mistaking they're Jamies children is there,Shock poor Jools' genes don't seem to have had a look in.

Conundrumish · 16/09/2010 16:28

It kind of assumes that he will live off his father's wealth for the rest of his life - I mean he hasn't a hope in hell of finding a sensible career if the poor little chap turns out to be conservative and serious.

HRHCavey · 16/09/2010 16:38

Wasn't he named Maurice for Jamie Oliver's father who died some time ago?

anonymousbird · 16/09/2010 16:44

Trevor is well and truly alive and kicking.

It's Jools' dad who died ten years ago or so... he was Maurice.
