.... here. Jools & Jamie have had another baby.

Am I being unreasonable (although this is not the AIBU forum) but how ridiculous (or other words I can't think of) are these names?! Buddy Bear takes the whole thing to a new level...

buddy bear sounds like that manky mascot gers have.yuk

messylittlemonkey · 16/09/2010 19:00

Buddy is awful.

Not even short for anything else. Just so affected too.

NormalityBites · 16/09/2010 19:10

I had my ninth birthday party at a God-awful soft play centre called The Buddy Bear Club.

It was all the rage ..... first soft play anyone had ever seen. Burger and chips in the cafe and sweaty ball pools.

It shut down soon afterward.

pinkbasket · 16/09/2010 19:15

Bear is a lovely name Grin.

I quite like it and those pics of them leaving hospital - lovely. His initials are unfortunate though. They should have thought of that really. If we'd gone for our first choice for DS1 his initials would have been NOB.

moominmarvellous · 16/09/2010 19:34

I quite like it. It fits really well with the girls names.

Poppy, Daisy and Petal - the middle names are what make them more unique, and I guess as they grow up, wether or not they use them will be up to them.

Congratulations to them all I say Grin

Poppity · 16/09/2010 19:42

Everlong that is so true, just read through this thread and could feel myself getting cross at all the people saying that! What tosh!

Also winds me up when people say they won't ever be able to have a serious career, more nonsense. I know plenty of people with successful careers who have much more far out names than Buddy. Of course the potential employer may also shallow and judgemental (with a cat's bum mouth snurk), but you can't win them all.

funkychunkymunky · 16/09/2010 19:48

Well congrats to Jules and Jamie! What lovely pics. How on earth does she manage to look so good the day after giving birth?

All of their name choices are not to my taste but I don't think they are too "out there" Buddy is quite nice and as others have said, he won't be known as Buddy Bear all the time just Buddy or Bud.

Although Buddy Oliver does sound a bit like Buddy Holly... (Buddy Oli)

nomedoit · 16/09/2010 19:59

It's very American. It will get shortened to Bud? Maybe it's a career move as we now have to put up with him and his TV show here in the US...

moominmarvellous · 16/09/2010 19:59

Where are the lovely pics? I can only find the first link to the Yahoo page and I'd quite like to see the nice ones :)

PosieParker · 16/09/2010 20:23

To accuse someone, as seemingly family oriented as this couple, of calling their child a particular name to break the US market is really quite Shock.

nomedoit · 16/09/2010 20:30

Oh PP, get over yourself and go and look up sarcasm in the dictionary.

The whole Jamie, "Blimey, cripes, up the apple and pears and thrown in a big handful of your best quality basil" routine just gets on my nerves!

nickstermum · 16/09/2010 20:31

Cor blimey sure beats Junior and Princess

Buddy Marvellous

nickstermum · 16/09/2010 20:39

Ah, i like Jamie, and who cares really what their babies are called they are all beautiful.

But seriously....

Petal & Buddy

a ha ha ha aha!

babber · 16/09/2010 20:47

I'm not a massive fan of the flowery theme the girls names have, but they're hardly 'out there' as far as names go, really. I know a few poppys and daisies for that matter. I like Buddy, wouldn't choose it for my boy but its still a cute name.

He will be fine.

He is upper middle class, his parents are media royalty.

If he keeps his physical and mental health his life is going to be golden.

He will cope with an odd middle name.

I think the girl's names are nice fwiw.

I went right off Jools when I saw a feature in some Sunday supp. All photos of her in the park with her children in tutus and wellingtons, her in an expensive tweedy coat and expensive twee tea dress, hair all a fly.

Just an ordinary mum doing ordinary things.

Yeah, whatever, innit.

(perhaps that post should be moved to the reasonable things I am unreasonable about thread)

My ds is called Buddy.

He loves his name. He hates Jamie Oliver though, so is was really hacked off today Grin

HerHonesty · 16/09/2010 21:20

i love the name buddy.

BeenBeta · 16/09/2010 21:29

Hang on a minute. Wasn't there a BUDDY Rich?

meadowlarks · 16/09/2010 21:51

I actually quite like it. I have a friend called Bud, and it suits him. I like Bear on its own but the two together are a bit much. I hate their girl's names - so awfully Cath Kidston twee.
