I do need hand holding, we have been really bad lately with sending them in on time, have cost ourselves a fortune in surcharges, Mini send out the form if profit is less than 100000 a year I think otherwise do online (lucky you if your doing online)

TO DO
get dressed done
dcs bathed/showered & dresseddone

sort out clothes on bedroom floor
VAT rtn

Think I might actually start out with VAT return, then I can sort office too, as it needs special illuminous area of Doom tape

(sorry can't say illuminous, without following it up with "luminous, bleedin luminous" for all you Only Fools fans)

PS Doing VAT rtn first does not mean that my bedroom floor is more scary and I'm putting it off

minimammoth · 21/07/2010 12:12

Ok. Passes DOOM hazard tape to Plum.
Have made a brief foray and culled a few papers. Also think I may have detected cat pee smell origin.. an old flip chart that had dropped down back of desk. Cat used floor as toilet last year it took months to clear, everything had to be scrubbed ...many times .This paper obviously escaped
Am embarrassed at the amount of waste paper feel v. guilty might have to plant a tree. Will go check VAT status now, we do online I think.

Right back to VAT return and also must feed my children

FreakoidOrganisoid · 21/07/2010 13:36

JKS I wouldn't mind so much if I was expecting it but I have a few that I barely notice and then BAM one that gives me The Rage for days beforehand and leaves me in agony.

Ah well!

Wallpaper falling off wall in hallway(and ds has ripped another bit), will need to call landlord to ask permission to rip it off and redecorate. Really not confident about repapering or doing the bit above the stairs though so would have to pay someone and am scared how much it might cost...

minimammoth · 21/07/2010 14:01

Have delved a bit more into deep litter filing system. have got rid of one pile and have made a pile of 'clean on the back' used paper. Will recycle, for making lists. Can now see desk. 6 more piles to go, plus window ledge.
Plum... and ..breathe
Am of your lovely bookcase Alice, casts glance at moth infested homebase tat in corner.

All quiet on the Moth front by the way. I bet their evil children are munching as we speak to re-appear next year.

minimammoth · 21/07/2010 14:04

Plum do you mean £100,000 turnover. Profit! if only.

PlumBumMum · 21/07/2010 14:23

Yeap sorry turnover, we are borderline, so think I was trying to convince myself it was profit, as hate the thoughts of doing it on line and having no control over when I write the cheque and post it, iyswim, but then it would save me bloomin money in surcharges

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 21/07/2010 15:03

It's stopped raining at last - hurrah. Just been for a picnic.

Plum - If you go to this link here and look at the second page of the book, there is a pic of a monkey cake that he would like. Basically the monkeys face is the cake.

Alicetheinvisible · 21/07/2010 15:44

Ok, have just spent 40mins writing out lists to put on the inside of my cupboard doors. Here they are (just pretend you're interested )

DAILY JOBS
Make beds
Empty dishy
Hang out washing
Clear up after all meals
-load dishy
-wipe sides/hob
-wipe table
-sweep up spilt food
Put washload on (before bed)
Put dishy on
Sweep kitchen floor
Help DD put away toys (need DD to be more proactive with this, have sticker chart!)
Chuck junk mail/recycling
Put clean washing away
Clean towels and teatowels out every other day (ish) (more teatowels than towels as they get grubby)

WEEKLY JOBS
Wash sheets and sofa throws
Hoover upstairs and stairs
Hoover downstairs
Mop hard floors
Clear surfaces and wipe down
Clean kitchen
-clear sides of accumulated crap
-clean tiles
-wipe down appliances
-wipe down front of cupboards
-bleach sink
-wipe bins
Clean bathroom
-clean bath
-clean loo
-clean sink
-clean window and mirror
-clean tiles and shower
-empty bin
-check loo roll/handwash etc

I have stuck to things that are easy to do and if done regularly actually don't take up much time. If all that gets done then the house will be easy to keep together (that is the plan!)

FreakoidOrganisoid · 21/07/2010 15:44

Ah HMHB from threads I'm on it said just been for a p and I was expecting it to say pint

FreakoidOrganisoid · 21/07/2010 15:46

Cupboard fronts once a week alice? Mine are more like when I can be arsed monthly

Alicetheinvisible · 21/07/2010 15:58

Our cupboards are cream so the ones that DD goes into and the ones near the sink get really grubby, really quickly.

wastingaway · 21/07/2010 16:25

I thought I posted an update earlier.

Anyway, I did what I said I would.

We have been to told with FIL and DS has had his first ever haircut. He was very well behaved and looks super cute.

Excellent list Alice.

Next -

  • check if washing on line is dry
  • hang washing
  • what's for tea?
  • sweep and wash kitchen floor
PlumBumMum · 21/07/2010 17:24

Okay

what sizes pans have you, prob around 8", I would bake 2 sponges for your main face, trim off some of the side so not exactly a circle,

bake another to set aside and cut out the ears, wont matter if they aren't the same depth as main cake,

couple of options for covering,
make buttercream and add small amount of coco powder(start with a tsp) to get pale brown, draw a quick template for your self on grease proof paper, thats abit like Mickeys face shape,
use pale brown for face,
then either add more cocoa to buttercream, for dark brown and cover rest of cake. cut out ears cover(they need pale on top) and they will stick with buttercream

OR cover whole cake in the pale brown buttercream, then place your face template on cake and sprinkle with crushed up flakes to achieve dark briwn cover(I am liking this option)
use white/milk chocolate buttons for eyes & nose, do mouth with chocolate icing pen

PlumBumMum · 21/07/2010 17:26

so template will cover face area iyswim

or was that as clear as chocolate buttercream

PlumBumMum · 21/07/2010 17:31

look at monkey no13 in my first link, remember anything remotely like this will be exactly the same as the one in the book to your ds, and you will be THE BEST MUM IN THE WORLD,
(I will even let you borrow my crown)

JustKeepSwimming · 21/07/2010 17:59

Plum - you are very clever

Mini - sounds like you are getting there with office, keep it up!

Alice - our kitchen cupboards are a dark cream and could do with cleaning more often then never they get
I'd rather get new doors...

Am v, pleased with office progress. Chucked loads of stuff. Next job to go through other piles, but I've at least straightened them up, so looks tidier. Still have to organise files etc.
Plum that looks like a good plan for monkey cake.

washing out, in, out,in evenually DONE
beds
kitchen floor
conservatory HALF
office 3 star DOOM REDUCEDSTATUS
household filing
moth hunt and mega death
web site words
organise spare room
weeding ABIT
magazine basket one star DOOM
post bills
tidy garden
web site words

HMM thought I had done more than that. Obviously lost in office time-warp

FreakoidOrganisoid · 21/07/2010 19:10

bugger my brownies for preschool staff are rising too much and look suspiciously cake-like. Why is it that the batch I made for us to practice were perfect and these are going wrong

Had wc over for a cuppa earlier, had he stayed 2 mins longer he would have crossed paths with h which would have really pissed h off, probably just as well he left when he did.

Washing off the line is still slightly damp so think will have to iron at least that lot tonight, the pile might collapse if I add anymore to it anyway

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 21/07/2010 19:21

Hello slatterns We have had a lovely couple of days at my parents seeing some friends who are over from the US. Then today we went out for lunch with DS' godmother, sat outside looking over the water - and she has just got engaged! She's been with her DP for 12 years and I was really beginning to think that he would never propose, so YAY! We had pink bubbles to celebrate.

Short list this evening, just enough to get organised. Loads to do tomorrow and Friday including birthday cake making and quite a lot of cleaning.

TO DO
Unpack
See if DS wants any tea
DS bath and bed
Change our bed
Put nappies on the line (they will dry overnight and in the morning)
Put sheets on to wash
Unload dishwasher
DH to finish putting things on Ebay
Early-ish night

Freak - boo at AF

Mini - yay on moth front and well done on tackling the office

Rainbow - Happy Anniversary

Alice - of lovely bookcase. Those lists are good, I may steal and modify.

Freak - the brownies will still be yummy I am sure!

Wasting - I had to cut DS' fringe today as it was getting in his eyes . I have cut the back and a little at the sides before and I always hate to do it.

AF is still not here! I am now 4.5 days late when I've been like clockwork for the last 3 months. I popped into Boots earlier and got a couple of cheapie pg tests, will maybe do one in the morning if there is still no sign. I am really tired and really crampy, so she is either imminent or there is another mini-Alibaba on the way - I just want to know! Argggghhh.

And in other news, we left our backdoor unlocked and with the keys in it while we were away!!
