Hello

No list today, but DH and i have loads to do, so hopefully by this evening the house will be looking ok

JustKeepSwimming · 04/07/2010 12:57

Hi everyone

Ali - well done to your DH, it should make such good differences to your life with a much shorted commute & 2 cars

Well time at PIL was as expected - have decided that if there is a clash again and i'm expected to go to see BIL & his wife (who does not talk to me) then i just won't go. It's not worth it and it upsets me i get all sensitive and paranoid about her not liking me, and BIl not being that bovvered about seeing us, esp DH, and just generally the whole family dynamic.
It's not bad really just not comfortable and i know MIL is still heartbroken about them going to Oz in the first place but they aren't sensitive about that with her.
And they hardly seemed impressed by DS2 which peed me off!

Then i had to stay later than intended for lunch (which i didn't like anyway), got stuck in traffic and got v stressed about being late for concert. Got home, showered, changed, ate and to venue in time though. And the concert went ok, phew!

Right I have 1 very full basket left so I have the tennis on and am going to continue ironing, I have a big pile of hangers beside me too so hoping I will get it all put away aswell

JustKeepSwimming · 04/07/2010 14:28

Welcome Mumtoblaire

Plum - yes they moved in Sept last year but had always planned to come back for 2weeks in June/July.
They are staying with PIL, but yesterday was allocated 'our family day' so i had to go for the weekend, they don't get that orchestra is my thing and important to me
"so what do you play in this band thing then?"....
And it really got my goat that yesterday they invited SIL's family & some random friends over to join in the family day, esp as they are going to SIL's family today and DH's side of the family aren't invited to that.
It makes me sad for MIL and DH, DH said to me that all he wanted was to sit and have a beer with his brother - well there were approx 20 people there yesterday and BIL was chatting to his friends the whole time i was there, so guessing it didn't happen.
Oh and Friday when we went down, BIL & SIL went out to friends for the evening

Am trying to breathe deeply about it and realise it's not my family problem to get stressed about, but it's hard.

SIL hinted that they may come back this time every year, well i for one won't be rushing down to see them!!

JKS Understand now, you have every right to feel bad, because you love your dh, although you are right not to stress over it as I have found that dh would get more anoyed about it, I think some people forget the important things in life.

My BIL & SIL-to-be called to MILs on Friday night and were talking about their wedding and I felt the silence from me was deafening,
dh just avoids the topic,
then other SIL asked had we booked a holiday yet, and SIL-to-be asked when we were going, I just said middle of August, shes knows rightly when as dh can't go to stag, but I made a point of saying we will see how the fiances are going

I HAVE DONE ALL MY IRONING just have to put it away now

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 04/07/2010 15:48

JKS - that sounds like a right pain. Lots of travelling for not much time for your DH and his bro. BIL's wife sounds like she is totally not worth the effort anyway. Hope you have a lovely day to yourself though!

DD is poorly. She has a v high temp and is all sleepy. I have given her calpol and she is sleeping now. Hope she is ok tomorrow as it is supposed to be my first day back at work and she should be in nursery .

List
Tidy up a bit
Pack DS's bag

Make tea

Half way through putting it all away then I'm going to sit and sort underwear

HMHB Hope your dd is ok?

PlumBumMum · 04/07/2010 16:35

Oh yes looked at that link before but do you have to stick to a very strict diet too?,
the Hannah Waterman DVD was alot of anaerobic excerise must dig it out again

FreakoidOrganisoid · 04/07/2010 16:42

Sounds irritating JKS, enjoy your wine though!

Hope dd is better soon HMHB, poor baby.

I have rearranged the dc room a bit today. This morning ds threw a load of toys out of his window into the road and it terrified me that I'd forgotten to close the window after breakfast and he could have climbed up onto the window sill and fallen out (his bed -toddler size so much lower than window- was under that window and I normally open the window for air when we get up and close it after breakfast). So I've just swapped his bed and the chest of drawers over so he shouldn't be able to get up to it now. Although knowing ds I'm sure he'll find a way if he wants to.

Have also reorganised some of the toy storage and bought a wicker hamper for the sodding teddies. Am quite pleased with the hamper because it looks like a big picnic basket and so will go quite well with the seasidey duvet covers I got.

DONE
All up etc
Load of washing in off line
Sort into iron/non iron and put away non iron
Clear up shreddies off floor
Take out dds plaits (half done)
Pick up toys from road
Wash out mop bucket

Empty bins

Move ds' bed and chest of drawers
Hoover behind bed and drawers
Dust behind bed and drawers

Cook dinner (doing)
Recycling into box

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 04/07/2010 17:02

Hi everyone

JKS - sounds like a nightmare Sounds a bit like my brother who is getting married - makes a fuss about 'family' stuff, but when it comes to it he and his DF (soon to be DW, boo) would rather spend time with their friends and sod everyone else. For example not inviting his only nephew to his wedding but inviting the whole of his old rugby team and their wives/girlfriends. Stupid arse.

Freaky that sounds like a productive day, I so need to have a toy sort out.

HMHB - hope DD is better in the morning, and good luck on your first day back!

We've had a lovely day, really knackering though.

DONE
Up and breakfast
Exercise
Shower and dressed
15 mins sunbathing (must do this daily if it's sunny now, my legs are v.white to go bare-legged at wedding)
Pack car
Go to food festival
Eat too much hog roast and lamb skewers and cake
Come home
DS nap
Me shower to wash off all the straw and dust
Finish Ocado order for tomorrow
MN in bed for half an hour

TO DO
Decide what to give DS for his tea
Shred - first attempt!
Put a wash on?
DS tea
Daily sand removal exercise
Get DH to tidy cables in the living room so the BT man can see what he's doing in the morning
DS bath and bed
Relax
Early night

mumtoblaire - welcome I find that not doing any actual cooking is an excellent way to minimise cleaning in the kitchen

OP posts:
mumtoblaire · 04/07/2010 17:27

To not do any cooking - what would we do all day?

I will just have to be extra carefull and keep lid on bolognaise sauce as much as possible. I really hate cleaning the wall tiles in the kitchen.

JustKeepSwimming · 04/07/2010 17:37

Oh i know what you mean about the tiles, the ones we have around the oven are dire!

phew, just did some gardening thinking it had cooled down out there - it hasn't!!
Think i need to split the garden into zones so i can break it down into smaller chunks...

Happy sunday everyone. Impressive lists.
I can't keep up with all the new slatterns, but nice to have them on board, for swapping notes etc.
Bit late on this one but... Dear Slatterns - do not eat anymore Kentucky Fried Crap Chicken, its just not good for you. ( as a granny slattern its my job to say this.
Barbie party went ok, but band insisted on playing lots of Genesis and Pink Floyd. Even I was sliding into depression, came home reasonably early and sober.
Can't be bothereD with a list.
Feeling listless today

minimammoth · 04/07/2010 17:46

Oh! Moth count 2.
Still suspiscious. Hope they are not hiding, having wild sex and then leaving their evil progeny in my carpets.

KFC is the work of the devil, I always feel sick afterwards and then wake up at 3am with a raging thirst caused by all the salt. Problem is that DH loves it and from time to time he persuades me that it's not that bad and we have one. Then I ban it for another 6 months. It is one definite plus from this diet, he hasn't even mentioned wanting one for the last 6 weeks

mumtoblair - it would make life easier wouldn't it? I always love it when we eat out or just have sandwiches for tea like today because there is no mess!
