Hi everyone Had a nice day shopping with Mum, even though we ended up having a 'discussion' about brother's iminent wedding. Was v.funny with hindsight and very British - whispered, clipped tones in the hat department of John Lewis I bought a hat in the end, and some new make-up, and also a new handbag lurvely which is not for the wedding but I really wanted one I can wear across me rather than carry or just put over my shoulder.

Wasting - at the pooey cat

JKS - that looks fab! Made me smile looking at that picture of your boys on the seat, my DS is a gorgeous little blondie too - he would have fitted right in for that photo!

Freaky - it's probably not a bad conclusion to come too re. the putting on weight. It's to do with how your body processes excess calories - excess from carbs can be stored as fat, but it's actually much harder for your body to store excess calories from fat/protein.
Some of our favourite meals at the moment are - sausages with roasted butternut and green veg - roast chicken with cauliflower cheese - meatballs in tom. sauce on top of leeks rather than pasta. We had chilli the other day with only a little bit of rice and loads of brocolli and it was really nice, I had been dubious!

Fernie - welcome and well done for making a start Sounds like you have got an awful lot on your plate
I would def. start with the hospital bag too, then laundry and then the kitchen. As a minimum each day I try and do a load of washing and keep the kitchen clean, everything else is a bonus.

x-post, Alice, how exciting! What do they eat in Turkey?

Ali, I want to see if there's a proper 'method' for doing hand-washing, so I feel confident that I'm doing it right. The stuff I did the other day looks (and smells) fine, but I used a lot of Woolite.
Also, the wool wraps are getting felted, and I don't want that to happen to any woollen clothes in the future.

Yes 2 blondies at the mo, though MIl assures me that they will copy DH and go darker. I'm just happy that DS2 has blue eyes (DS1 has brown, like DH), as all my family are blue

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 25/06/2010 09:02

Wasting the wool wraps are meant to felt, it helps with the waterproofing, but I agree you don't want it happening to jumpers.
I just sort of squeeze the thing I'm washing under the water several times and give a gentle rub to cuffs, underarms and any blobs that there were. Then for drying, I roll stuff up in a clean towel and then 'wring' that, and then either put it on a hanger or if it's heavy still it goes on the airer so it's flatter and doesn't get pulled out of shape. Stergene is what I use, last night I used not quite a capful in a basin of water to wash 6 tops.

I am at you going for Turkish Alice. There is a fantastic turkish restaurant that is on a little pier out into the bay in Cardiff, used to go there a lot when I lived there. Not sure if it's still there now!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 25/06/2010 09:07
