ok I have been reading this thread for inspiration and motivation - now I am motivated to do things but dont know where to start!. I started trying to make a list of what needed doing last night which turned out to be a mistake because the list started getting so long with such tight dealines that I gave up and went to sleep instead lol.

but my general things I need to sort are

  1. keeping husband on track with work (self employed with depression and just doesnt do anything at all if I dont push him - which is a problem)
  1. the house it is disgusting everything needs doing from washing up to the fact someone has spread yoghurt over the living room and many things in between.
  1. I am 34 weeks pregnant my last babies were 4 and 5 weeks early (induced) and I have nothing read at all no hospital bag, nothing for the baby although i do have some things left over from the last one - I just dont know what yet.
  1. We are supposed to be moving in 2 weeks a long distance move from the south east to the north west - not finalized at the momet we have put in the forms to the agency etc but waitig for references to go through so good chance we will move but cant start having post sent there yet!.
  1. try not to overdo it already on medication for high blood pressure and last babied induced early because of preeclampsia so cant go mad! Also have tachycardia and was in hospital a few days ago on ecg with multiple doctors rushing around looking worried - would rather not repeat that wonderful experience!.
  1. MIL and BIL coming on 3rd july

7.my sister coming on 19th july.

  1. would be good if the children didnt look like street urchins once in a while (actually this is most important to me as I feel liek they have got a bad deal in all of this as I have struggled to deal with everything on my own the last year since my hsuband has been unwell.

can any of you advise me how to start i cant think of the first job!

Wecome Fernie i am 33+3 wks pg with no2 so i understand a bit. I have got an irritable uterus so doing too much sets off contractions. We are doing well between us!

Tbh, if you don't know where to start, i normally fill the dishwasher and the washing machine and set them going. Go round with a washing basket picking up random items of clothing that need washing, do the same with rubbish/recycling and then toys etc. Then sit down with a drink.

I think your hospital bag needs to be a priority though. Especially as you are moving, it will help knowing that everything is in the one place iyswim?

FreakoidOrganisoid · 24/06/2010 09:48

Hi fernie, that sounds a lot and v v stressful. I am not much use right now as my head is buzzing with everything I need to get done in my house (complete pit) but will do a bit of cleaning here, hopefully unload my head a bit then read your list properly and see if I can help.

Best wishes anyway, we'll cheer you on, though not enough to put blood pressure up

fernie3 · 24/06/2010 10:50

ok have sorted out the huge pile of toys that was all over the living room and got rid of a black bag full of mostly broken toys or toys with peices missing - so whenit comes to packing thats all ready. If we end up staying here for whatever reason at least we have less clutter!

I am going to have a look at the hospital bag a bit too maybe get some pjs etc ready

Oh no wasting, getting out probably do you good then.

Fernie sounds like a good start. I usually start with the surface stuff first and then that helps me calm down and deal with the rest. So for me that means getting the washing up done and the floor and surfaces clearish before even starting to deal with paperwork/decluttering/organising/hardcore cleaning.

So from your list I think I would spend 30mins-1hr each morning getting on top of basic housework eg load of washing on, washing up, sides wiped etc (may take less depends how bad house is!) then add one bigger job each morning eg cleaning bathroom/hoovering/cleaning oven/dusting/decluttering/packing a box/cleaning yoghurt off sitting room. Then in the afternoons you can sit down and do something less heavy eg sorting out paperwork/mn/tv. Before going to bed get kitchen sorted and chuck any toys into a toybox.

That way you shouldn't have to do a manic clean ready for guests!

Oh but get that bag packed pronto! What do you need? Nighty, pants, maternity pads, nappies, outfit for baby, change of clothes for you, moisturiser, lipbalm...

Hope that helps!

My trip out this morning took me much longer than I planned, partly because of the traffic and partly because I wasted time browsing at stuff I didn't need or want!!

BTW my exercise didn't happen last night because after I had cleared the floor I just couldn't be bothered so today I will try to make up for it.

wasting give it ago, what have you got to lose? I was a bit self conscious at first.

Ali can you tell me the sort of meals you eat on low carb (in pleb terms-I have no idea of nutritional values etc)I honestly can't think of a single meal that isn't fairly carb heavy!

minimammoth · 24/06/2010 17:21

Ali if it helps, tonight without DH I am having grilled salmon fillet ( could fry it) and stir fry veg, leeks, mushroom and courgette, might add a bit of Mayo as cant be bothered to do a sauce.

FreakoidOrganisoid · 24/06/2010 17:24

I've just found the perfect bedding for the dc's room once the bunkbeds arrive!

It is ££ and a lot more than I would normally spend but you know when you have something in mind and then you find it? Well Mr Mastercard has just had to buy it! This is the first covers I have ever bought them, everything else is my old stuff from when I was younger so I don't feel tooo bad (actually got it somewhere else a bit cheaper than that but the pic is better on that site)

minimammoth · 24/06/2010 17:26

Sorry that was meant for you Freaki. Could also have omlette and salad. Sorry forgotten how to spell. We sometimes have homemade burgeers with various salad stuff, coleslaw etc

FreakoidOrganisoid · 24/06/2010 17:30

Ah so meat/fish and veg without bread/pasta/rice etc then?

Aren't a lot of veggies high carb though? I also use a lot of lentils/beans etc and am guessing they are high carb.

minimammoth · 24/06/2010 17:36

Things like chick peas, baked beans etc are high carb but lowish in the glycemic index so are better than bread etc. green beans and peas are not much carb, also carrots and other roots do have some but not much. It is harder for veggies, beacause it is the meat that staves off hunger. When you feel hungry have a glass of water or cuppa.

FreakoidOrganisoid · 24/06/2010 17:45

Hmm...I was thinking about ali earlier and it occured to me that having always had problems putting on weight suddenly starting to coincided with me going on the poverty diet (eg bulking everything out with pulses, eating more potatoes/carrots etc with a roast to save on meat) so I wondered if cutting down carbs a bit would help. But it could also be that I stopped bf ds around the same time and have not cut down my eating!

wastingaway · 24/06/2010 17:48

I'm okish Mini, ta. I'll be better later I hope.
We went for a walk, and I pegged out wash, tidied a bit and we're having tea now.

I'm so gutted about the cat still crapping on the vegpatch though. Just feel it was a complete waste of time.

FreakoidOrganisoid · 24/06/2010 17:51

V annoying wasting. I love cats but their poo habits are irritating.

minimammoth · 24/06/2010 17:54

Just to make you all laugh. Went to DH's course yesterday. Lovely woods he said, come over. So I did, it was lovely, they were working reasonably hard, it looked like precision work. Then came tea break and they had an axe throwing competition..... as you do..
