There's no fooling an April fledgling flyer

Welcome to the April edition of the fledgling flyers where shower screens are shiny and rain never stops play.

Here you can do any of the following:

  • repeat or start baby steps (again!)
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone

or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering

This is what it's all about - Babysteps each day to try to get some order back into our home with LOADS of support from our regulars.

So join in! We start this thread on April 1st (no joke), but you are welcome to dive in at any point in the month.

Splish, splash, swish and swash along to reserve your place...

Evening All,

Welcome back Teamcullen, PurpleWednesday (I too have hen envy) and Feetheart (we must have crossed posts last night as I missed your post until today) so lovely to 'see' you all. Your return seems to have created 'confession day'! Quite therapeutic really, maybe we should make it a regular feature!

MissB lovely and sunny here too . I'm really enjoying the book at the moment but will give a full report when finished!

Linzertorte I'm sure the hobnob counts
.
DEM and Ellie I raise you your paperwork pile of doom and give you the DESK OF DOOM...

PA you imagine it just as it is in the marmite household! In fact I have just spent two hours folding washing...how did I let it get that bad?!

MrsD pottering is good . One of my favourite words.

Sounds like a lovely day OM - well apart from the scary driving bit!

DTG must be hard to think of the right music for tomorrow. I hope you get a good sleep tonight and will be thinking of you in the morning xxx.

Really, you're all stars - we may not have perfectly spotless houses but we're trying and juggling everything else in life at the same time...

MiniEggsAndMarmite · 13/04/2010 22:38

Morning Ladies

Today's babystep is a reading one so a good chance to 'catch up' if you need to.

We're still in the bathroom plus one for decluttering and missions.

Take care x

DidEinsteinsMum · 13/04/2010 22:54

yes but Minimarmite my paperwork pile of doom files an entire bath tub... plus 4 boxes. Although you are still welcome to borrow some of it.

Didnt do most of my list but as tomo is the respectfully quiet day i am going to have to see what happens with no guilt list. dont suppoes it will be much different to today really.

MrsDinky · 13/04/2010 23:11

Sorry, meant to come on earlier but have been composing a difficult email to someone who was bereaved recently, then got stuck into two poles apart threads about sexy footballers and tax credits...

Now I've got a headache and want to go to bed. That's what thinking about tax credits does to me. Maybe I should go back to the footballers one!

DTG - just wanted to say will be thinking about you tomorrow.

missbennett · 13/04/2010 23:27

Evening!
PW very of your hens!
DTG hope all your arrangements today went well and that tomorrow goes as smoothly as possible.
OM sounds like a perfect day to me! I loved 'Secret life of bees'. Have you read 'The Mermaid Chair' by the same author? I liked that even better

We braved Ikea and actually had quite a nice afternoon and enjoyed a coffee and a cake in the restaurant - picked up a couple of things we needed.

In addition, I have sorted through 2 more boxes of papers and am bringing some order to the chaos - but still a long way to go...

Off to bed now. Night all.

Good morning all.

Thankyou everybody for all the warm welcome backs, kicks and tea.

Well yesterdays plan went nowhere! I fiddled that much on the laptop and left myself only enough time to get ready for work.
But at least I feel better knowing evrybody hasnt been living in houses that Kim and Aggie can be invited round for tea to.

This morning though Ive woke up rearing to go and made sure I did my list before turning on the computer.

I have done

Washed last nights dishes
Shined my sink
Scrubbed my bathroom
cleaned the bathroom bin
Got a bag of washing ready to send to my mum's
Washed my uniform through and put it in the dryer

Need to

get ready for work
make a salad for my lunch

My new motto is clean house, clean body I want to lose half a stone for a couple of parties Im going to next month.

DTM I hope all goes well for you today.

DTG - sorry to hear about your Dad - hope everything goes as well as it can.

Glad I'm not the only one with a pile of paperwork to deal with. I think I'll have to start tackling it tonight

Today however, I have been on a spree! Got a massive supermarket delivery so decided to do a fling in the kitchen. I've thrown a load of stuff away (more than 27 things!) and cleaned out all the food cupboards and shelves. I'm contemplating getting stuck into some more while DS is asleep too! I made sure I rested regularly between stuff though (DS made sure of that with plenty of requests for cuddles!) It feels good to have made such progress in the kitchen though

optimisticmumma · 14/04/2010 14:56

DTG - thinking of you and your family today. Hope it goes as well as it can...Take care of yourself.

LinzerTorte · 14/04/2010 15:47

Thinking of you today, DTG.

Not much flying going on here, as I was working all morning and chauffeuring the DC around for the first part of the afternoon. DS has a friend over now so, for once, they are all playing quite nicely together - allowing me to catch up on things downstairs while ignoring the chaos that they are creating upstairs...

You're doing better than me in the kitchen, Chairmum - I've been flinging for two or three days and still haven't managed to throw 27 things. But if the hobnobs count, I could always eat a couple of packets.

ChairmumMiaowGoingItAlone · 14/04/2010 16:37

Linzer - it just shows how long it is since I went through checking dates on everything!

missbennett · 14/04/2010 20:51

DTG hope everything has gone smoothly for you today. Been thinking about you......

DreamTeamGirl · 14/04/2010 21:14

Hi everyone

Thank you all so much for the lovely messages

The funeral was ok- as nice as a funeral can be although I totally broke down during my reading and it took me about 30 or 40 seconds (an age when you are standing up at the front of the church in front of about 100 people) to compose myself to finish it - It was this one if you want to read it -be warned tho, its a bit of a tearjerker.

Its kind of now nice that it is done, but weird to think that now it is done and we have a new life to get accustomed too.

Oh and the music for the crem was perfect. Two Beatles songs- we started with Follow the sun and ended with Here Comes the Sun

Thank you all again for your kindness xx

MiniMarmite · 14/04/2010 21:32

Evening Ladies

I hope everything went well today DTG x

Well done on all your flying today ladies. I've not done much but my washing is finally under control and DS's socks have all been located!

I have to dial into a late meeting now - never mind, I'll take some time back tomorrow and DH is planning to get home early from work.

Have a restful evening everyone and 'see' you tomorrow.

x-posts DTG

I'm so glad that your Dad's funeral went as well as can be expected.

It must have been very hard doing a reading but I'm sure in years to come you will be very glad to have done it. What a beautiful poem, thank you for sharing it with us.

Goodnight x

Good morning All,

Today's babystep is one to add to the morning routine.

We're still in the bathroom and another room for decluttering and missions.

Have a good day.

purplewednesday · 14/04/2010 22:23

DTG Huge respect for being able to do the reading. I was in pieces at my Mums funeral and wouldn't have been able to say a thing. Your Dad would have been very proud.
Time is a great healer, but remember it's OK to heal at your own pace, not at the pace other people think you should take.

My plans re tomorrows flying are to deal with the hotspots (there seem to be sooo many...) and tidy up the spare bedroom (including the mountain of ironing!) as I have guests this weekend.

Haven't done a lot of flying the last few days as I keep wasting time watching the hens
It fascinates me how they take themselves off to bed at 8.15pm regularly - its obviously when the sun starts to set this week!

Einstein - have you finished your marking yet?!!

See you tomorrow girls!

DidEinsteinsMum · 14/04/2010 22:34

nope not even started it. slept all day today. feel less emotionally drained. a good nights sleep and things will be done tomo.

MrsDinky · 14/04/2010 23:37

Just wanted to say glad things went smoothly today DTG, I agree your Dad would have been proud of you making that reading and you will be glad in years to come that you did it. I read that piece at a friend's mother's funeral a few years ago, it is a beautiful reading. Take care.

elliepac · 15/04/2010 07:37

DTG glad things went 'well' at your dad's funeral. Your Dad will have been so proud of you as you did the reading, I couldn't have done it at my dad's funeral, and that reading is beautiful, sums everything up perfectly and reminded me of my own dear dad . Don't feel the pressure to get back to 'normality' too quickly, it's a big life adjustment to have to undertake and will take some time, your time and this period can be harder than the immediate period after your dad passed away. Take it easy and take time for yourself. (((hugs)))

On a far more mundane note, today is a busy day in the elliepac household. Got to get tidied up quickly this morning and then taking DC plus Dniece to local museum with friend and her DC's and all then coming back here for lunch. DNiece is then sleeping over so have to find some space on the floor in DS's room which could be tricky.

Have a good day everyone .

missbennett · 15/04/2010 08:17

Morning!
DTG sounds like it was a lovely service and well done for doing your part in it too. That is a lovely reading - I've got it in a little book with line drawings and it's been quite helpful for the children when they were younger.
DEM glad you're feeling a bit better. And good luck, elliepac with finding the bedroom floor - a challenge we often face!

Not much flying here today - DD1 is going to London with a friend and I am taking DD2 and her friend shopping. So I get to mooch round the shopping centre on my own I might just treat myself to a Starbucks - I know - horrible commercial chain etc BUT a skinny latte with sugar free hazelnut syrup is utter bliss So easily pleased these days.......

Hope you all have good days too.....

ChairmumMiaowGoingItAlone · 15/04/2010 08:58

Morning all -

DTG - glad it all went well. Funerals can really help you to come to terms with things I think.

Today there will be mostly just routines. Yesterday I went nuts cleaning out all the cupboards in the kitchen (well about half of them - all the ones with food in) so my routines should be nice and quick as the house is sparkly!

Waiting for it to warm up a bit before I put the washing out though!
