Welcome to the April edition of the fledgling flyers where shower screens are shiny and rain never stops play.

Here you can do any of the following:

  • repeat or start baby steps (again!)
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone

or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering

This is what it's all about - Babysteps each day to try to get some order back into our home with LOADS of support from our regulars.

So join in! We start this thread on April 1st (no joke), but you are welcome to dive in at any point in the month.

Splish, splash, swish and swash along to reserve your place...

Afternoon all. Just checking in on my phone as DS has a nasty cold, is asleep on my lap and wakes when I try to move him!

I have done nothing all weekend so have flown while DS was at nursery ( shouldn't have sent him poor boy ). Kitchen cleaned and mopped as I will be out tonight, and morning routine done. Might do a bit of bedroom decluttering this afternoon if DS lets me!

ChairmumMiaowGoingItAlone · 12/04/2010 13:01

Linzer - it was from our thread for the recently ditched and was lovely. Did take me about 3hours travel each way though! We gossipped for hours :-)

Littlepurpleprincess · 12/04/2010 19:49

hello everyone, I'm back. Computer died so haven't been able to check in for a while. This thread is 18 pages long! I will try to catch up.

feetheart · 12/04/2010 22:11

I'm back too after a sojourn to N Ireland to see my folks.
Lovely time apart from the usual fracas with my stepfather that just has to happen every time we go .
Spent yesterday on the beach in glorious sunshine which the DC LOVED. Live so far from the sea usually that its a rare, rare treat to just potter, dig and paddle for a day

Flying this week will be whatever I can fit in - trying to get routines back on track probably. House is like a bombsite due to holiday detritus, masses of washing and the effects of 5 children today

Will be back in the week to try and catch up but need to go off and search mental health threads for support for a friend (hence extra 3 children today)

Hope everyone is well and has been enjoying the weather, long may it continue.

MiniEggsAndMarmite · 12/04/2010 22:28

Hi Ladies

It was a real struggle going to work today - the first time in more than two weeks that I've been into the office in person rather than working from home. Great to see everyone though, just a long day. DH cooked spag bol for dinner which made up for it all and then DS had a very splashy giggley bath . Have since argued with DH about the huge bike that is blocking the hallway but that's another story .

DTG how are you going today? We'll keep things relatively 'normal' but quiet on here on Wednesday in the spirit of life is too short. We'll all be sending our thoughts and hugs.

Glad your roast went well Ellie, there's something very satisfying about pottering about making a roast on a Sunday. Your list was very impressive today, I hope you managed to do what you wanted to do (but there's always tomorrow if you didn't).

PA summer might be on its way but a BBQ isn't a very good indicator in this house - as long as the BBQ can be lit and kept alight it is considered 'the season'! I hope you managed to have the relaxing day you had planned.

Linzer sorry to hear you are having more winter! Your list is sounding very keen today, good for you.

MissB well done on you mission premonition! I hope you enjoyed your Clarins treatment, how lovely . As for ringbinders, we have a similar set up but more dividers (cat, insurance, pensions etc). Gosh, MrsD, you sound extremely organised with your filing system.

DEM now I am even more impressed! I have a few trays of rocket seedlings that look they're too crowded but I don't have enough pots to transfer them to!

Glad you had a good MN meet Chairmum sounds like you had a good day - isn't MN just great - where else would you just be able to meet up with a few people that you've never met before and gossip for hours!

Welcome back LPP - things are moving fast on here as always but just dive back in, you'll soon catch up (both in terms of babysteps and gossip)!

I'm going to bed in a minute, reading a great book sent to me by my SIL - look away if you are positively avoiding book recommendations - Eat, Pray, Love. I picked it up straight after reading Paul Coehlo's The Alchemist and the theme is similar so now I feel like somebody is trying to tell me something!

Night all, waves to everyone that I've not said a personal 'hello' to today.

MiniEggsAndMarmite · 12/04/2010 22:32

Morning All

Today's babystep is a bit of a dabble into missions for anyone who is not doing those at the moment, and good practice for the rest of us.

As for decluttering and the aforementioned mission, we are in the bathroom plus another room.

missbennett · 12/04/2010 23:10

Evening all!
Very of a day at the beach!
minim let us know how you get on with Eat, Pray, Love. I've looked at it in the bookshop a couple of times but not got as yet so will be interested to see what you think.
I've managed to do some sorting in the bedroom. DD1 having a 'low' day and said she had a headache but picked up a bit this evening and spent it with a friend whilst I went for pizza with friend's mum who is my friend
DD2 spent most of the day attached to facebook/msn and crap american tv. She has not got out of her pjs since Saturday (though she seems to have done washing and make-up ) so I have said that tomorrow she is to be up by 10 and not to spend the day electronically . She has done her English though so I won't complain too much
Off to bed now - see you all tomorrow....

elliepac · 13/04/2010 07:51

Morning my fellow flyers,

grand plans yesterday for which I deserve no credit because i didn't get it done. DD was having a 'terrible two' day and couldn't get anything done. But today is a new day and am going to see what I can get done.

Back later. Going to drink more coffee.

DidEinsteinsMum · 13/04/2010 08:11

Right i need to be productive:

Laundry x4
Lunch box
School run drop and collect
find library book
Return library books
Write important emails x 4
empty recycling box
Marking.
Life plan.

Right must move. need to get up and get ds off to school.

teamcullen · 13/04/2010 08:37

Ready Steady....JUMP

Right thats it, Ive took the plunge and jumped back in. Ive well and truly fell off the flying wagon, my sink is not shiney and my house is in definate chaos. Please, please, please, can I come back for a good kick up the backside and obsessive list writing. Please.

Im starting with the basics due to an everything breaks in three's moment in the kitchen.

My washing machine is broken
The oven door has fell off (good luck its BBQ weather)
There is a hole in the Microwave

Plus Im doing overtime in work so Im not getting home until 6.30pm So instead of making excuses that I have no time I am sorting myself out and making time. So heres my first list of jobs to do before work.

Sort out a bag of washing to send to my mums with the DCs this morning
wash breakfast dishes
Shine sink
clean bathroom (and bin)

Oh and hello to everybody who has been keeping their house lovely and clean the past couple of months and thanks for still being here.

elliepac · 13/04/2010 08:42

It is a pleasure to still be here teamcullen but I have definitely not been keeping my house lovely and clean . Here is the kick up the backside and here is the because it lovely to have you return to the fledgling fold. Isn't it a PITA when the washing machine breaks?

I am still imbibing cofee, nothing done yet.

PositiveAttitude · 13/04/2010 09:12

Teamcullen - Welcome back. LOL at us being still here and having nice tidy houses! You have GOT to be kidding!! I am an original (August last year, along with SC) and I swear I am the biggest offender!
It is so easy to read what everyone else had planned, or done in the day and feel inadequate. How do we know they really do it????? I like to dream of you all living in chaos with washing volcanoes erupting everywhere and pots and pans in the sink - just like mine, then really!

BAck to work this morning. But now I have finished for the day, so home to be a taxi for DCs social lives.

have a good one everyone!

elliepac · 13/04/2010 09:16

If itmakes you feel better pa your dream is currently my reality. And no, I didn't get done what I planned yesterday (or the day before, or the day before, or the day before)

MrsDinky · 13/04/2010 09:21

Hi TC been wondering where you had got to. I am not doing at all well lately either, so hardly feel qualified to give you a kick, but how about a nice cup of tea?

I have not posted a list or completed a mission since the start of the school hols, am just pottering along doing a bit of decluttering here and there, so you are not alone.

Anyway, better go, DCs are gazing listlessly at the telly making me feel guilty. See you all later.

missbennett · 13/04/2010 09:31

Morning! Sunshine here and sitting with the door open
Hope everyone is OK. TC lovely to see you back but please be reassured that my house is not lovely and shiny. Bits of it are getting there....Slowly.......very slowly....

This morning I have
-done routines
-load of washing in and now on the line
-sorted one (small) box of papers

Later I am going to take a couple of bags to the charity shop And we might get to Ikea - need their light bulbs and only theirs fit the lamp. VERY bad planning!

Have a good day all.......

LinzerTorte · 13/04/2010 09:33

Morning all,

PA - I'm exactly the same, reading everyone else's lists and feeling very inadequate. If it's any consolation, I struggle to get half of the things on my list done. And I rarely manage to complete my morning routine, let alone the afternoon and evening ones.

Today's list is very short as I've got quite a lot of work to do today (and it's going to be getting gradually busier up until the end of June). I'm determined to try and stick to my routines at least, but seeing as I've been struggling with them even when work hasn't been particularly busy, I'm going to have to make a real effort.

Anyway, to do today:

Routines
Write to bank
Continue 27 fling boogie in kitchen (now a 23 fling boogie, I think)
Phone shop for DH
DD1 to dermatologist

But before I can get started, I have to finish off some work and will belatedly join you for a coffee elliepac.

DidEinsteinsMum · 13/04/2010 09:41

Ellie - depends on where you are. I am doing anything to avoid sorting out the paperwork pile of doom that needs dealing with before the end of the weekend. it is pure chaos here, so am living your dream PA.

I havent been about either TC. I am going to have to start over completely.

elliepac · 13/04/2010 09:52

oooh i have a paperwork pile of doom too dem, in fact I have several . Coffee's on linzer, i feel it is time for a break, not that i've done that much.

LinzerTorte · 13/04/2010 10:00

Excellent, ellie - I've just put coffee on here too. In the spirit of decluttering, I will have a hobnob with it to use up my rations.

DidEinsteinsMum · 13/04/2010 10:03

Right progress report.

Laundry x4
Lunch box done
School run drop done and collect
find library book
Return library books
Write important emails x 4 done
empty recycling box
Marking.
Life plan.

right i am going to find somewhere nice to sit and get the marking done. 60 books to do today so they can be returned up to date. Might take the life plan to do when i have done.

purplewednesday · 13/04/2010 10:21

Hello everyone, I am back. I think I am in the same boat as
Teamcullen and Linzer. School hols have left chaos, plus the baby still likes being awake at night.
On a good note I am now the proud owner of 5 fluffy hens in the back garden!! Hopefully will get eggs in a few weeks.

Todays list:

laundry
put dry clothes away
ironing
manic tidy up in all rooms
letter to write

Good luck with the marking Einstein!

Will tune in later to read all your stories of inspiration,

TTFN

PositiveAttitude · 13/04/2010 11:03

ooohhhhhh hens PW definitely .

You have all made me feel better - the fact that you are living just as i imagine. Perhaps I am psychic, or maybe I am big brother, watching you.
Anyway, now that I dont feel quite so inadequate my plan for today is to do as little as possible. £ hours of work before 9am was pretty good going and enough for the first day back.
Film is on, sun is shining, taxi service for DCs has done its drop offs (plan for respective boyfriends to do pick ups!) DS is feeling like having a lazy day - I am certainly not complaining!!!!!

DreamTeamGirl · 13/04/2010 12:14

Is there some tea in the pot too Ellie?

My lounge floor looks insane right now- no idea how as it was spotless yesterday!!! And somehow in the same time period my kitchen cupboards emptied themselves all over the sides ...

Today is a bit odd as my dad is being brought to the church today and I have to get the CD for the crem music sorted and it is currently thwarting me! But in the interests of not giving up on procrastinating I am messing about on here and facebook instead!!!

Oh and DEM- empty recycle bin should be on my list- it wobbles everytime I open that cupboard and IS going to fall on the floor soon, yet still I ignore it... Tis only 38 seconds walk to the bin too... how rubbish!! LOL

DidEinsteinsMum · 13/04/2010 15:03

CBA re marking. have seen lots of nice countryside. felt low after submitting formal notice so was good to my self. I think i need a good night's sleep, i feel very tired. Expect it will cure most things.
Need to go pick up the boy tomo.

optimisticmumma · 13/04/2010 17:21

Afternoon all...

Have just wrestled the laptop from DD who is now baking with 2 friends for a picnic tomorrow!

So far I have:

done morning routine and am about to do missions and cleaning!
done ironing!
Finished 'Secret Life of Bees'

Better go and get on then...

Pot of tea on the go and triple choc cookies!!
