Everyone welcome!

Here you can, for one month:

  • repeat or start baby steps
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone
  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering

As we are coverning more ground, to avoid confusion, I'll be posting links early in the morning on the relevant day.

Good luck!

Right doing well got everything done down the party bit. so it laundry stuff to do. Am poorly so taking time out and will see what happens later.

droitwichmum · 03/10/2009 18:21

Hi everyone, good day so far, even got DS pairing socks for me

today's list
washing done
DS swimming lesson done
ironing done except the stuff that's still drying
put laundry away done mine, DS done his waiting for DH to do his own
clear DS's table clear and shining
shine my sink

Off to see what flylady has sent me

hellsbelles · 03/10/2009 18:52

optimistic 5p - how brilliant. I must try that (though with inflation it's probably about £1 now!)

fruitstick · 03/10/2009 20:05

Have slipped a little over the past few days but DH and I are spending the weekend trying to do lots of DIY jobs etc that we were going to leave for the landlord but now have to do now that we're staying.

I have sent DH in to declutter the study. He hasn't got very far.

I have failed to do any of the missions so far but am starting in earnest on Monday but the sink still shines.

My flash power mop has been a bit of a hit with DS1 (3.5) and he keeps saying 'look mummy, that bit of floor is dirty - I'll do it'. Trouble is I think he'll get through a whole bottle of fluid by the time the week is out. It doesn't get the floor as clean as a mop and bucket (I don't think) but is great for spot cleaning. Between DS1's attempts at weeing standing up and DS2s weaning, it is definitely a godsend

I also made a homemade chicken pie today which was absolutely lovely but a complete faff and used every item of cookware I have.

MiniMarmite · 03/10/2009 20:11

how can my kitchen floor be so dirty when I only washed it last night??????

Not getting on so well today but sinks are still shiny and loos all lovely so am taking heart from that!

I find it more difficult with Mr Marmite and miniminimarmite running around making a mess (this is my reason excuse and I'm sticking with it )

dreamteamgirl · 03/10/2009 21:21

Hi all
Whomever asked about Riley challenges?

There is a link here to them all, so you can find one you like to give them LOL Riley challenges

I think I have a power mop but it isnt squirting so I need to sort that out.

tibni · 03/10/2009 21:53

oh have I started a homemade chicken pie trend - and me a veggie! LOL

Managed to do ok today - even managed to do a bit of decluttering in the study (which has extra crap in from having the loft insulated).

Meal planned today so cooked rather than got a takeaway.

optimisticmumma · 03/10/2009 22:17

hellsbelles 5p per item not 5p the lot!Inflation would have to be rampant for it to be £1 .

hellsbelles · 03/10/2009 23:01

dreamteamgirl - thanks for the link that's great...some of them are a bit rubbish so it's great to be able to pick out the best ones to keep DS into the whole thing. He did the art supplies one today....he's doing better than me at the moment!

optimisticmumma - I thought it sounded like a great deal!

dreamteamgirl · 04/10/2009 00:21

Hey hellsbells
You are going great guns mate

I just found this on facebook too Riley's

Countingthegreyhairs · 04/10/2009 07:29

Good morning - waves at everyone

Baby step for today:

Sunday 4th October

You are all doing brilliantly

Bit of a killer day yesterday - kept wondering how you were all getting on but I couldn't get back on here! Have to go to work this morning and for a couple of hours this afternoon but I will be back in between (hopefully!) for a Sunday "roundup". Looking forward to catching up

In the meantime,

just wanted to say that it's great to have you back TeamEdward - glad you are feeling better

and have I already said hello to Frazzled74 and Bewarethefullmoon? - so sorry if I missed you earlier - a warm welcome to you ....

droitwichmum · 04/10/2009 09:35

Not dressed at all this morning yet but will be much earlier than usual. Done the rest of the ironing already and I will hang my lounge curtains today - please nag me or it won't get done and they've been down so long I can't remember when I took them down to be mended .
Other than that I will put the washing away and shine my sink before bed and that seems to be it for the day

havingagiraffe · 04/10/2009 10:01

Ok, today is my catch up day as have done no zone cleaning or missions yet and have hardly kept up with my babysteps this week. I actually need my morning routine out today so I can remember what needs doing!

However, I have been for a run this morning, the first since DS born, although not sure if I can technically call it a run when I did rather alot of walking.

Am dressed and that is about it, will be back later to update on progress - I am determined that there will be some today!

Minimarmite Agree that much easier when MrGiraffe is not in, he was off sick Thu and Fri and just got in my way.

CTGH Rubbish working on a sunday. Thanks for looking after us.

OM Can't believe you managed to hide from DH for a whole month. Love the 5p game, bet you wish the DC's were as pliable now!!

Can't remember who it was but am gutted that you moved the plastic swords, thought they were a great addition to the hall.

thanks for the duster link DTG am going to order the 3ft one as I am tiny! How exciting.

dreamteamgirl · 04/10/2009 10:19

LOL havingagiraffe you reminded me that I also had 2 plastic swords in MY hallway...
Feels like aguilty secret letting my child play with actual mock weapons

Not much flying going on here- too busy sacking au pair- but thats a whole other story!!!

Countingthegreyhairs · 04/10/2009 11:07

OK, well, up and washed and dressed to shoes, sink is shiny, washing is on, dryer is on, dishwasher is on, school uniform has been ironed for week ahead, dd off riding with a friend and have done an hour's work which is better than most Sunday mornings (dh being away makes all the difference).

I'm really banking on the 15 min de-cluttering every week-day making a difference because despite having only one child and working p/t, I seem to be paddling madly just to keep still. Rarely get to the "let's have a huge chuck-out stage". 15 mins a day doesn't seem very much compared with the enormity of the task facing me here but I guess I must have faith in the fat fairy ...

How are you all doing, particularly those of you completely new to the system?

Is it all making a bit more sense now Jumbs?

You ok Anmar and Romanarama and anyone else who is baby-stepping for first time?

Waves to PA!

All very quiet from WalktheD ... which is a very good sign!! "Profitez WtD!" !!

Paranoid - flowers are still gorgeous - thank you. (Hope Dh and DS got fed eventually )

Hello to our resident Oracle Dreamteam!! .

Optimistic - congratulations on "coming out". I'm still in the closet . I'm so relieved your family have reacted well. But are your friends upset by your constant wearing of denim vests and lace up shoes???

You can't be a worse cleaner than me Star I promise you!! We will prevail!!

Bewarethefullmoon - sorry for earlier post - now I've had a chance to read down the thread I realise you are DidEinstein's doppelganger ... How did the party go? Are you feeling any better?

Well done on your study tibni?? Any progress on the job front?

Hello to Stepaway GoldenSnitch AlexDrake Bigboots Jacqaueen Marmite Blissa Snorkie Ihavenewsockson Droitwich and MommyupNorth - hope October has started well for all of you

How's the motivation Brokenhearted??

Hello to Rhian82 Have you actually moved yet? How's it going?

How's the DIY gone this w/e Fruitstick? Hellesbelles - I agree about the peace of mind the very defined Flylady time limits and tasks bring to the whole tedious business of housework. Before I followed Flylady, I felt so behind and so panicked that I would waste time running around like a headless chicken wondering how I should be prioritising things and achieving very little indeed. Now I know what I should be doing, when, and for how long, it's a huge weight off my shoulders and it gives you the sense you can enjoy everything else much more because you know the cleaning tasks will be coming round, on a regular basis and in a focused way ...if all of that makes sense...

Hope you are feeling better ShoppingVeggie

An important message for

FairyBubbles and Pink-NosedDevereux

I have only just spotted your posts further down the thread. I am so sorry to be replying only now. A warm welcome to the thread. It's getting so big and moving so fast I can't keep up with everyone!!

Fairy Bubbles - I could have written your post myself

Love your nickname Pink-NosedD

Hope baby-steps (yuck, hate that phrase) going OK

OP posts:
Countingthegreyhairs · 04/10/2009 11:15

Oh dear, I have scrolled up and down and tried to mention everyone in the thread but I think I may have left some of you out - apologies if so and "hello" to anyone I have missed.

HavingAG for example, I'm sorry! Hope all OK with you.

This thread has grown so much that I'm afraid it's going to be virtually impossible to keep track of all individual posts but everyone is very friendly on here and brilliant at answering queries (particularly Dreamteam and Elliepac (another I have missed - sorry!!) so don't hesitate to ask if you are unclear about anything!!

Enjoy the rest of your w/e everyone!!

annmar · 04/10/2009 11:21

I'm doing OK, I think CTGH, dressed (albeit in old jogging bottoms and one of DH's T-shirts) and raring to go.

Yesterday was a bit of a backward step as I decided to do some baking with the DDs. I think the kitchen has now been declared a disaster zone. (Except the sink area, which is nice and shiny.)
I'm glad next weeks zone is the kitchen, although it may take me all week to get the icing sugar and baking powder out of the tiles. I have tried sweeping, but I think I might need a better brush. (Don't want to use anything wet and end up with a nice iced kitchen floor.)

Today I am concentrating on washing. It seems a shame to waste a sunny day when I have a huge pile of washing waiting for just such a day.

Countingthegreyhairs · 04/10/2009 11:30

Droitwichmum PLEASE HANG YOUR CURTAINS!!!

That's good to know Anmar Well done on the sink and washing front * - great minds think alike as I baked with dd yesterday too!! Whatever induced me to make marble cake, I do not know. Suffice to say a lot more things ended up "marbled" than the mixing bowl and cake tin!! Have a good laundry day ...

hellsbelles · 04/10/2009 11:32

thanks CTGH & dreamteamgirl So glad there is this thread - I started off the day in completely the wrong way - but then realised I would have to post my progress so managed to scramble back on track (i.e actually get dressed )

DH is so inspired by all this he's currently do a major de clutter downstairs - and DS is so amazed at all the artwork stuff we found under a pile of mess - he's doing drawing instead of pestering to go on his WII - I really really want to keep this up

droitwichmum · 04/10/2009 11:38

THE CURTAINS ARE HUNG! DS has actually asked me to leave them closed so he can see them.
Also found a white board-type notice board for kitchen and put it up.

Bit scared at the thought of having to tackle the kitchen next week but posting should help me through it (I hope)

elliepac · 04/10/2009 12:34

Afternoon all, well i miss one day and it takes me an absolute age to catch back up.

Yesterday was a complete non-event as far as flying was concerned. DS had a party to go to in the afternoon. On the surface, there is nothing particularly annoying about that unfortunately the child decided to inconvenience me completely and....grow. How very dare he. Got all his decent stuff out for the party and none of it fitted him. When you add into that the fact that he looked like mr mophead and therefore had to have a haircut this made for a very busy (and expensive) morning. While he was at party me and DH took the time to spend with DD on her own (sometimes feel guilty because she doesn't get as much of this as DS did when he was young being the first and all) and by that point i frankly couldn't be bothered to do anything.

This morning have been back on the wagon and have whipped through the downstairs and bathroom, done 2 loads of washing and managed to trip to the woods for autumn leaf fun!

havingagiraffe it was me who had the swords in the hallway and you will be pleased to know that despite all my admirable efforts they stayed upstairs for precisely 23 hours and are now back in the hallway

OM i am still firmly in the closet and planning to stay there, then DH will think i have become housewife of the year all by myself (oh how my aspirations have changed )

WTD all quiet this weeked...guess you've got better things to do

hellesbelles wish it would have the same effect on my DH/DC's.

droitwichmum was going to remind you to hang curtains but just seen you've already done it...yeah!

TeamEdward welcome back, sorry september was so bad for you.

Hello to everyone else, hope we're all doing ok on this beautiful sunday afternoon. Can't decide what to do this afternoon.

CTGH if it's any consolation i also know not where to start with de-cluttering. DH is an awful hoarder and every time i try to throw something out, he suddenly decided he might need it. Now i have a relatively small house with a not a lot of storage so you can imagine the problems that that causes.........to quote your goodself...a little at a time.

Countingthegreyhairs · 04/10/2009 12:55

elliepac foam swords in hallway are GOOD!! And if it's any consolation, I was helping dd get dressed yesterday and found that she has grown out of all her wool tights and all of her trousers .. just when you think you are finally getting on top of things eh.....?!!

Thanks for the encouragement on the decluttering front. I need it.

OP posts:
elliepac · 04/10/2009 13:00

At least if i ever get burgled i will be able to defend myself

hellsbelles · 04/10/2009 13:25

elliepac - exactly the same happens with my DS. I lay out his clothes for school and one morning in shouted that his jeans didn't fit....FGS - he wore the same size the day before and he literally seem to have grown over night!
