Everyone welcome!

Here you can, for one month:

  • repeat or start baby steps
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone
  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering

As we are coverning more ground, to avoid confusion, I'll be posting links early in the morning on the relevant day.

Good luck!

I also have an unhealthy obsession with smileys - apologies in advance.

paranoiabigdestroyer · 02/10/2009 19:27

CTGH I am sending you a virtual bunch of 24 long stemmed fragrant yellow roses for all your organisational, motivational messages and for getting me into this Fly thing. I hope you have a clean and shiny place in your house for them somewhere.

If DH and DS ask why there is no dinner on the table yet I will tell them I've been at the florist.

blissa · 02/10/2009 19:36

Hello everyone

Just fluttering in quickly, I have friends coming over so forgive me for not reading all the recent posts (there are loads!).

I have done as I promised and cleared out the cupboard under the stairs. I am very embarrassed by what I found in there! God knows how many carrier bags and dusty cloths. And phone books and yellow pages, still in their wrapping, from 2005

Anyway is nice and tidy now, I can access everything and close the door properly! I didn't manage a complete clean in the hallway, but managed to put all the clutter away.

Will be back tomorrow for a proper catch up, I'm off for wine and nibbles

positiveattitudeonly · 02/10/2009 19:50

Welcome Star. Most of us need the kick up the bum here, so join good company.

OM I could always do it to wind you up !! Sorry, couldn't resist, you know me! It is better than being anyway. I think the looks quite menacing, myself.

Romanarama - Have you actually got your golden retriever yet? Is it a puppy? Argh! It will be a total time waster and you will have no time for flying, now.

Have a good evening all.

droitwichmum · 02/10/2009 20:21

Day 2 done! I am so relieved that there are others out there with the same bad habits as me. So today I have:

all dirty dishes in dishwasher and sink clear done
washing in one place ready for ironing (probably tomorrow)done

15 mins declutter in dining room done even though it involved me mending the lounge curtains first so I could put the sewing machine away
quick vac of hall and dining room done
shine my sink done

I can't believe DH and DS are already joining in albeit in a very small way.

I am also very worried that I am actually looking forward to doing it again tomorrow

MiniMarmite · 02/10/2009 20:38

How's the paperwork going OM? CTGH thanks for posting the links etc, especially when it sounds like you are pretty snowed under. Thanks for mentioning the cutesiness too, good to get it out in the open ...I might start having dreams about wearing a tabard and lace-up shoes and holding a sparkly wand soon!

My day is going well. I don't actually feel like I have done much but the house is tidy, there's not much in the laundry basket and my sink, loo and door handles are all shiny. Just about to embark on a declutter with DH - he's already started, bless him.

I'll be checking in at the weekend but just wanted to wish you a happy Friday and wonderful weekend.

Shoppingveggie · 02/10/2009 21:15

Hi everyone

Not done much I'm afraid - been in bed for the last two days - pretty much since I last posted on here saying I was about to start cleaning !

But anyway, feeling a lot better this evening and plan to be quite "keen" this weekend on getting things done.

Looking forward to getting to swish and swipe and the control journal.

Hope you all have good weekends.

tibni · 02/10/2009 21:25

Hi all,

Bit chaotic this morning - ds on a school trip and dd school assembly.

Managed to do the mission and generally do some decluttering.

Have a good weekend

BewareTheFullMoon · 02/10/2009 22:33

Right got my sink shiney yesterday and got dress to my shoes today. Have a shiney sink but going to try to do the fly lady thing and go to bed a reasonable time. Trying to keep up but sometimes find it hard to post.

paranoiabigdestroyer · 02/10/2009 22:59

OMG DH just said "the house looks tidy"

If only he knew it's all about wearing my shoes and shining my sink - both done btw

BewareTheFullMoon · 02/10/2009 23:16

See you to all else

Countingthegreyhairs · 03/10/2009 07:18

Good morning my lovelies!!

Just popping in briefly before cornering dd and ambushing her with a fistful hairgrips taking dd to ballet

Haven't caught up with entire thread yet so will be back later but for now just wanted to say a huge thank you to Paranoid for such a lovely post and for my gorgeous bouquet - never even been passed popcorn on here so I feel very honoured [fetches vase, runs tap, arranges flowers, puts them on desk by computer]

and thank you everyone for all your kind words. I am benefiting hugely myself from running this thread (have to be much more disciplined about Flying) and you are all helping to motivate me as much, if not more, than the other way around.

A warm welcome to Star and Bewarethefullmoon (who I think I may have forgotten to say 'hello' to earlier)

Back later everyone!

step for Saturday October 3rd - nothing too onerous - a spot of revision!

if you are very keen and/or need to buy materials/get prepared this weekend, then here's a sneak peek for the week ahead

OP posts:
Countingthegreyhairs · 03/10/2009 07:19

That was meant to be

of hairgrips (I'm useless at crossing out too!!)

OP posts:
droitwichmum · 03/10/2009 09:24

Am dressed to shoes (well slippers)

today's list
washing
DS swimming lesson
ironing
put laundry away (not good at that)
clear DS's table (major hotspot)
shine my sink

check in later!

MiniMarmite · 03/10/2009 09:43

Morning All

Well done PBD, house must be looking great and OM on the paperwork . I just realised I nagged you after you had already finished, sorry about that! This thread is moving so fast I can't keep up!

Have fun with the BLW Havingagiraffe

Most of morning routine done, just need to cook some courgettes before DS wakes up in 1 minutes and read CTGH's message so I know what to do today.

Over and out!

TeamEdwardTango · 03/10/2009 09:45

Hello!
I ducked out of September's baby flyers because I was bedridden with flu. But now I'm back and ready to try out my wings again.
I'm dressed. It's a start...

hellsbelles · 03/10/2009 09:55

Hello all- really enjoying this - and the house is already looking so much better even though I"m only early days. It's amazing the sense of calmness when you complete your steps then can sit down and surf MN catch up with some emails/work knowing that you are not 'supposed' to be doing more clearing up.

Are you all getting your DCs to do the Riley challenge? I've got my DS to do a few and he LOVES them he keeps asking what his challenge is for today (he's 6)! Do they get bored quickly or are any DC's still doing it? I live in hope this is something he'll keep wanted to do

droitwichmum · 03/10/2009 11:14

I've not heard of the Riley challenge. What is it about? My DS is almost 6 and ready for a challenge

hellsbelles · 03/10/2009 12:59

I signed up for the emails and if you scroll down there is usually one there

Here's the one on there today....it's not as good as usual as they usually have a timescale - so I"m going to say he has to do this in 5 mins (that's the bit he likes - beating the clock iyswim!).

The one DS particularly liked was when he had 5 mins to find 10 items around the house that belonged in his room and to put them back in there (it was on an old thread I read)...I gave him a bag to carry them up in and he rushed round doing it!

Anyway - here's the one for today (as I said it's a bit boring - maybe start with the 10 items one to get him up for the challenge!)

flyladykelly - 10/2/2009 7:15 am

Hi Kids!

It is time for the Riley Challenge of the day!

Today is really easy - check your bedroom floor for any paper clutter that you do not need and toss it in the recycle bin or the trash can.

Check your floor for things that you do not need, love or use!

Have fun!

Kelly

droitwichmum · 03/10/2009 13:01

Thanks hellsbelles. I'll have a look. Might be worth signing up for the e-mails after all

hellsbelles · 03/10/2009 13:07

droitwichmum - if you do - make sure you do it as the 'daily digest' otherwise you get hundreds of emails!

optimisticmumma · 03/10/2009 14:00

Hi everyone!

My DH was also pretty impressed with the condition of porch and hallway particularly as I washed a couple of his jackets too.

Those of you doing this in Sept will remember the conversation about whether we were mentioning all this to DH/DPs . The risk of being branded a stepford wife was too much.

Well - I have a confession to make - I came out yesterday to DH regarding the flying . Actually it wasn't as bad as I thought. He didn't run for the hills!

Th Riley challenge made me smile as when my DC were much younger(All teens now just about)I used to play the 5p game. Each would have a bag, run round the house, collect and rehouse as much stuff as they could for 5p a go. How dreadful is that? Anyway, in times of iminent guest arrival it worked a treat!

Today I have:

stripped, remade,washed our bedlinen
put on 2 loads of washing
watched DS2 play rugby
posted letters

Not much else today but am risking writing on here paperwork(shh)

have a great weekend all
