Everyone welcome!

Here you can, for one month:

  • repeat or start baby steps
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone
  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering

As we are coverning more ground, to avoid confusion, I'll be posting links early in the morning on the relevant day.

Good luck!

Is everyone clear about what they are doing?

OP posts:
Countingthegreyhairs · 01/10/2009 07:40

Oh no!

I've gone wrong on my first morning!!

Can everyone tell I don't know what I am doing!!

This is Thursday's mission.

Please ignore the earlier one

Sorry. Learning process for me too.

I am planning to be airborne with you if that's OK? Serious clutter here as we have just moved house!

walkthedinosaur · 01/10/2009 07:47

Woohoo I'm here, I've found you all - welcome to new flyers, who I'm too lazy to go back through the thread and find your names

Saddo that I am I'm really looking forward into going into a 2nd month of this - I've just printed out the detailed cleaning lists so I've got something to guide me.

I actually did 10 mins in DS1's bedroom yesterday before I felt the need for air, but now there are a huge pile of games on my landing which DH is going to sell at a car boot.

I'm feeling very excited today, my DH works in the UK (we're in France) and he hasn't made it home for 3 weeks, when he gets home in the morning he's going to feel like he's walked into a completely different house, it's been transformed in a month of September flying. Onwards and upwards I say. Right to work for me, happy flying everyone.

Countingthegreyhairs · 01/10/2009 07:51

Great we have so many new recruits!

A warm welcome to Romanarama!

Hello WalktheD ... what a lovely romantic story to start the day!! Have a wonderful time tomorrow (do remember to change your denim Flylady vest and lace up shoes )

Right I'm back. I'm actually going to write things down this month instead of typing it up on the PC and saying I will print it off and then not....

Hoping nesting will help with the FLYing

Rhian82 · 01/10/2009 08:55

The decluttering/packing went pretty well last night. We boxed up most of the DVDs and videos, and threw out a huge bin bag full of old taped-off-telly videos. We also have a pile of videos and DVDs to try and sell, and have listed the sofa we're getting rid of on Gumtree - please keep your fingers crossed that it goes quickly!

I wasn't sure how I'd manage steps/missions with the move and everything, but I think I'm actually pretty sorted with today's Firstly? I've never shined the sink. Well, the kitchen is all DH's area, and I'm not sure what he'd say to the idea. But he was complaining before about how long it took him to clean the kitchen of our old flat last time we moved house (he pulled an all-nighter, came to bed as I was getting up for work) so I might be able to persuade him if we do it together!

Also, the entrance/dining room. Well, we live in a flat, and our front hall is empty, so nothing to do there. We don't have a dining room, but we do have a table at the back of the living room, and it's very cluttered! So tonight DH and I will de-clutter, clean and pack all the stuff on and around the table!

Wow, I feel virtuous already, and all I'm doing is sitting in work MNing?

Shoppingveggie · 01/10/2009 09:24

Morning everyone

I have to be in work for 12, so I have a few hours to do:

Washing and put on line
Empty DW
Clear kitchen
Hoover downstairs
Hoover stairs
General tidy up

That should be do-able.

Another thing I am doing which is loosely tied in with fly-lady I guess is getting things done I have been meaning to for ages, like book a chiropodist appointment (my feet are an embarrassment), take some sewing to the sewing lady - that sort of thing..... anyway off to empty dishwasher.......

optimisticmumma · 01/10/2009 09:35

Morning all! Good grief I can't believe how many posts there are already How virtuous are we??

Right, Piggy flu is subsiding nicely although I am a bit fed up with my 3 DC cluttering up the place being ill on and off too, so today:

sink shiny - done
swish/swash/swipe - done
hotspot-done
room rescue - done
supper?
lesson planning for next week
loads of jobs to do in town
15 min decluttering zone 1 (lucky me no dining room any more - knocked through to make big kitchen )
PAPERWORK - argggh

See you all later...

Sorry elliepac that was me leading you along the wine path again .

optimisticmumma · 01/10/2009 09:37

Sorry forgot to say welcome to all the new people....

droitwichmum · 01/10/2009 09:45

OK - I think I know what I'm doing. I work FT so have taken a few mins before I start work to plan what I will do when I get home. Already done internet shop for delivery later so a good start.
List for today:

  • shine sink
  • 15 min declutter dining room [scared emoticon]
  • 15 min trash hunt in hall
Countingthegreyhairs · 01/10/2009 09:57

Hello Snitch Rhian82 ShoppingVeggie Optimistic and Hi again to Droitwich

Great to see you and everyone else.

Just popped in to remind everyone to take it steady.

Shine your sink.

15 mins decluttering in current zone (if you are doing zones as well)

That's IT for today.

This has got to be realistic and sustainable. SLOW starts everyone please.

OP posts:
Countingthegreyhairs · 01/10/2009 10:00

Droitwich - just to be clear, my last post wasn't targeted at you!!

OP posts:
Jumbs · 01/10/2009 10:00

I'm a bit confused! I've shined my sink as today is my first fly day, but should I be spending 15mins decluttering in my porch & hall too? I will try and do that anyway as parents in law have left bike and scooter for DS1 in the porch and I can't get the pushchair in and out now!

I really hope I get the hang of all this.

DS2 woken up now so everything will be on hold until he decides to nap again now!

Jumbs

dreamteamgirl · 01/10/2009 10:03

Wowsers, this thread is CRAZY busy

I am doing the repeat babysteps and mission prong, so I dont need to do anything on my babysteps today, as it is later in month I fall apart

I dont have a separate dining room, and dining table is clear, my porch is literally justa porch- as in cover and step and outside so that is ok, so i am going to do all 15 mins in my hallway and around doorway. I have a table covered in junk mail just inside door and a big pile of stuff waiting to go on Freecycle or down charity shop so thats todays work sorted!

Done the usual as well:
swish & swipe, dressed to shoes (zip ankle boots not lace up ), brakfast stuff in DW, LOL put on, beds made and me at work!
Its Thursday today so tonight when I get home its wash downstairs floors and polish cupboard in hallway- which fits in well with todays fly zone! Hurrah!

Welcome to all the fledglings and WB to the flutterers

dreamteamgirl · 01/10/2009 10:06

Jumbs
If you are just starting out then its just the babysteps
So shine you sink and nothing else.

Of course if you have 15 mins spare, then hey go for a 15 min declutter, but dont burn out! If you plan to declutter set the timer and just do 15 mins. Here is how to declutter

Enjoy and dont over do it!

Rhian82 · 01/10/2009 10:12

droitwichmum - you've reminded me we've got internet shopping arriving tonight as well! Hmmm we'll see how this evening goes?

droitwichmum · 01/10/2009 10:20

I'm planning to do the 'extra bits' while I'm waiting for the delivery . If it doesn't get done there's always tomorrow (it's not going anywhere, it's been there for months

BTW - feel free to abbreviate to DWM!

dreamteamgirl · 01/10/2009 10:39

DWM and Rhian2 I have my internet shop coming tonight too- it somehow always seems to create clutter in my kitchen when I do!!

And like DWM I am often shortened to DTG

Oh and OptimisticMumma glad you are feeling btter.

Shoppingveggie thats all really good stuff- the appointment making IS a big part of it- Flylady has days defined to do it all on, whcih works well for some folk. I have a phone calls to make long list, but I never do it!!

WalktheD that will be so cool when DH gets home and sees your lovely home- oooh and you will be able to tease him, that it must be him that makes the mess!

positiveattitudeonly · 01/10/2009 11:26

46 messages already!!! Whoa!!!

Hi everyone, oldies and newbies! I am back. I was only away for a day and i can't believe all the activity on here!

Am just flying (ha ha) past just so that I can get to the thread easier later. Not got time to tell you everything I am not going to have time to do today, as having a manic day!
Next step of today is to hop in the bath that DH has just run for me - oh hard work!

Forgive me for not adding any names and not catching up on all the news. Will try to catch up later.

Sink is shiny!!! (that's about it)

BrokkenHarted · 01/10/2009 11:45

Urgh
I cant get motivated....
Someone help me motivate myself!!!

dreamteamgirl · 01/10/2009 12:27

Hi brokkenharted
Dont try to get motivated- that will come with time. Just do one thing today thats all, just clean your sink. It wont take long and you will have achieved something. If you do nothing else this month do that

Good luck

hellsbelles · 01/10/2009 12:40

Hi All....sink is shiney (from yesterday - I got over excited and started too soon ) - so I've also done a 15 minute declutter. I do love the rather smug proud feeling I get from getting going on this! Thanks for introducing me to all this.

annmar · 01/10/2009 12:42

I need to join and do this.

I keep starting, but don't seem to get much further than shining the sink.

Will do that today and try and do the 15 minute trash hunt.
