Everyone welcome!

Here you can, for one month:

  • repeat or start baby steps
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone
  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering

As we are coverning more ground, to avoid confusion, I'll be posting links early in the morning on the relevant day.

Good luck!

bugger, missed out the word cope...muppet.

MommyUpNorth · 01/10/2009 20:52

Entrance area and front hallway are fairly clear as I had done them earlier in the week, sooooo decided yesterday to have a go at decluttering the laundry room. We could barely open the door, and it was rare that we could find anything in there! Two large bin bags, and a few baskets and boxes later it looks like a new room & I can get the door fully open!! I can't believe how much crap I was keeping in there.

Tonight while in the kitchen shining the sink, I have to put the oven cleaning stuff in the oven (obviously! LOL!) so that DH can sort out one of the heating elements at the weekend. I hate oven cleaning, but seeing as the kitchen is looking a bit neater, I suppose doing the oven will help keep up the motivation.

Tomorrow I'm hoping to start on the under stairs cupboard... not looking forward to that as it's a complete mess. Loads of old paint tins kept just to know what colours we've used around the house, so will put any that are really empty into a file on the computer and get rid of all the tins!

Hope everyone achieved what they wanted to today! See you all tomorrow!

alexdrake · 01/10/2009 20:57

Hi everyone, can I join in please? I think this might be just what I need to get this place sorted.

I'll start for real in the morning, fingers crossed I can catch up!

annmar · 01/10/2009 21:03

I have managed to wash all the dishes. Waiting for them to drain a bit, then off to shine my sink.

Will try and bin all the rubbish that has accumulated by the front door, but don't think I'll get much more done today.

Hopefully I'll be more productive tomorrow.

droitwichmum · 01/10/2009 21:05

Finished! (for today anyway)

Still waiting for Tesco's so I think a large glass of something is in order.

See you tomorrow!

Bigboots · 01/10/2009 21:13

Going to bed on first night of new thread feeling v. smug! Even the chickens have had the fly lady treatment and went off to roost tonight (almost) smiling (slight sort of turny-uppy beak thing going on!)

MiniMarmite · 01/10/2009 21:25

Right, I must do the following before I go to bed:
iron a few things
make breadcrumbs
shine sink
general declutter/throwing rubbish away (hall is ok because done as part of study decluttering plan as they are adjoining)

If I write it here I will have to do it!

blissa · 01/10/2009 21:52

Looks like every on has had a very productive day!

Very of your afternoon *ctgh(

My sink is not very shiney! But hey ho

paranoiabigdestroyer · 01/10/2009 22:17

Do I have to shine my sink AGAIN before I go to bed? I did it this afternoon at about 2pm for my 1st babystep. Everyone seems to be doing it before they go to bed.

Chaotic evening - now there are baby clothes all over the dining room table and there's a great big pram in the hall.

But my drawers are decluttered!

Looking forward to finding out what a control journal is CTGH If I write my baby's name in it will he stop waking me up at 3.15am?

fruitstick · 01/10/2009 22:45

Gosh this thread is busy, I haven't had time to read everybody! But welcome to all the newcomers, hope you've all got your lace up shoes and denim tabards ready.

I've been out of the house most of the day today so have achieved very little.

I have paid a criminal amount for a flash power mop though, which means I can mop up after DSs without having to do the whole mop and bucket thing.

I have also realised that the key to this is getting up before my children which I can't quite bring myself to do yet . I tend to lie in bed until finished BF DS2 or DS1 is demanding breakfast. It is not conducive to showering before I go downstairs!

Now that we are not moving DH and I are motivated to get the house looking nice this weekend and doing all of those jobs we couldn't be arsed to do and were leaving to the landlord .

Night all.

A control journal comes MUCH later in the month for those of you starting babysteps this week, but its basically a document/ folder that contains your routines and all your important info in one place

More info here control journal

dreamteamgirl · 01/10/2009 23:11

Hi fruitstick
I do also find if I can be showered and dressed before DS wakes the mormning is MUCH easier. Very hard if you are still BFing tho

Countingthegreyhairs · 01/10/2009 23:17

Thank you Dreamteam (again) for steering us in the right direction

My sink is shiny - or at least empty of dirty dishes.

DS1's packed lunch made for tomorrow.

have some free time tomorrow so am going to try to a 'mission'.

What is a SHE??

positiveattitudeonly · 02/10/2009 08:03

Morning ladies!

Bright sunny morning here.
Dishwasher done,
Kitchen sorted
Sandwiches x7 done
Breakfast - doing!
Washing machine done.

good start to the day. - something to do with no wine last night, probably! - boring meeting instead!

Fruitstick - You lucky thing - seen those mops, but the idea of spending that amount on a mop seemed slightly obscene to me, but is it any good? If it is I might succumb, all in the name of fly lady, obviously! Isn't it sad that we are excited over buying a kitchen mop? I used to be excited over handbags, clothes, make-up, shoes. Never would I have imagined having the same enjoyment contemplating buying a mop! I must be turning into the sad old woman my delightful teenagers already think I am.

shoppingveggie - Getting the uniform sorted as I go along through the week is smoething that I have noticed is good too. No more frantic monday morning search for PE kits, football sock (you always lose one don't you.). Much better now.

Mommyupnorth + Elliepac - can't remember which one of you wanted the kick up the bum for your understairs cupboard, but consider yourself slightly encouraged this morning. Harder persuasion coming up this evening if not done!

Frantic wave to CTGH- Month 3 wow, how far we have come! ITs growing and growing. How encouraging.

Hi to everyone else, too many now to name, but warm wishes and soapy suds and shiny sinks to everyone!

Fluffy slippers are still resisting the lace-ups here.

Hope you all have a good day.

positiveattitudeonly · 02/10/2009 08:05

Romanarama - sorry, took ages to get that post done, while eating and sorting out DCs, so crossed posts. Where did the SHE come from? Off the fly website?

GoldenSnitch · 02/10/2009 08:11

Was motivated yesterday by a friend popping round and me being devestated at having to invite her in!!

House was totally a case of C.H.A.O.S.!

Managed to get the downstairs of the house looking relatively tidy by the end of the day - including my hallway (but as it's less than 2m square, that's not an achievement) I did get out with a bucket of water and a brush and clean the downstairs windows to make up for not having a porch or a dining room though

walkthedinosaur · 02/10/2009 08:20

Well first day of zone cleaning for me yesterday and I'm going to say it was great, hall and dining room. Slammed on Lady Gaga and got my checklist out and now it's shiny sparkling and what's more because I wasn't wiping aimlessly here and there and was working to a checklist it went great.

This flying thing is catching, DS1 was awake early this morning, so while I was having a shower and getting DS2 dressed, he got himself dressed and then went round upstairs making my bed, his own bed and DS2's bed - he's a little star. I woke him up last night when I was putting the ironing away in his bedroom and he mumbled away half asleep that he thought it was fairies who put his pants and socks in his drawer when he was asleep, I think I've shattered an illusion

Am feeling very excited, DH is on his way home after 3 weeks away, I want him home to see our sparkly clean house, he's going to be so surprised that our bedroom actually has a floor! But also it's been over 3 weeks since he was last home and I've missed him, hopefully I won't have too much work to do over the weekend and we can have some nice family time.

Well done all the newbies for a good start, hope everyone has a good weekend.

frazzled74 · 02/10/2009 09:25

I would love to join in. I want a sparkly, uncluttered house by christmas.

MiniMarmite · 02/10/2009 09:28

Morning Ladies

WalktheD Bless your DS1, how sweet - both tidying etc and fairies!

Can't wait to hear about your DH's reaction to having a sparkly home. Don't forget to have a night off cleaning though!

We'll I'm dressed to my socks! Can't bring myself to wear shoes indoors when my floors are finally clean. Will shine my door knobs at lunch time when DS has a nap.

My sink is shining and so is the sun {grin], have a great day everyone. I'll be looking into Flash power mops as well Fruitstick

optimisticmumma · 02/10/2009 10:21

Morning all

Walkthed - hope you have a lovely time with your DH . 3 weeks is a long time apart especially with littlies.

I too had a great start to zone 1 but have to agree with you PAO - when did I 'get off' on cleaning and spending money of household goods? I have bought a pack of tea towels, a scrubbing brush with a handle and a steam generator . OMG!(iron with a big bowl on the bottom). Never in my life have I felt so excited about my ironing

Today I'm going to:
sort out coats in hall
take coats to drycleaners
hoover decobweb porch
recycle
wash rugby kit
strip and wash DD and DS2 bedding
make muffins
PAPERWORK.

Have a great day all.

If I haven't referred to doing any paperwork can someone please ask me if I've done it. (sever procrastination emoticon)

optimisticmumma · 02/10/2009 10:23

severe doh!

elliepac- took your advice-wine didn't taste vinegary at all . Feeling a bit slow today though
