Everyone welcome!

Here you can, for one month:

  • repeat or start baby steps
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone
  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering

As we are coverning more ground, to avoid confusion, I'll be posting links early in the morning on the relevant day.

Good luck!

Lunchtime peek!

You all sound v industrious this morning.

CTGH - thanks for the coffee!

I had to wake DS up at 7 and force-feed him breakfast so we could get out on time. Thankfully the 7.32 train was late this morning . And I know you all know he goes to breakfast club but he still insists on having his actual breakfast before he goes.

Anyway - managed to get to the bank this lunchtime and started thinking about where to start with my lifebook.

ellipac - hope DD is feeling a bit better
HB - I am notorious amongst family and friends for having the most horrendous house so am looking forward to showing it off. I know exactly what you mean about becoming a different person. I can't believe I am looking forward to going home and cleaning my appliances (kitchen variety).

Check in later!

elliepac · 08/10/2009 15:07

ctgh i remember reading some camus for french a-level now. Confused me then, confused me early this morning

Thanks for all the kind wishes about DD. DD is doing that thing that kids do when they are poorly. Give calpol, cheer up, calpol wears off, become grumpy, give calpol, cheer up...ad infinitum.

HAven't actually managed to do a great deal apart from a general tidy downstairs, shine sink, 2 loads of washing. Have however, using the wonderful world of the internet managed to fix the faulty plug on the dishwasher. It has been broken for ages and DH promised to fix. A promise that has been broken. So i did it myself , and i can't believe how much i missed my dishwasher and how much tidier my kitchen looks now it is fixed .

Anyway, can hear her rambling about in her cot so has obviously woken from nap. Am going to attempt mission this afternoon. Will check in later.

elliepac · 08/10/2009 15:09

Well, what the bloody hell happened there then?

post should read,
*ctgh, i remember reading camus for french a level. Confused me then, confused me this morning.

Muppet that i am.

pushmepullyou · 08/10/2009 16:25

Afternoon everyone.

Just sneaking on at work to catch up and have a look at todays mission.

ctgh am motivated and inspired by early morning Camus, but that may be because I read it at 3pm with a cup of tea and a biscuit!

ellie hope DD is feeling better

to everyone else [smile}

Today I have done my morning routine and that's it so far.

Tonight I will do my evening routine and clean my appliances!

tibni · 08/10/2009 16:49

Afternoon.

Heard this afternoon I have got an the interview next week! I will have to dig my suit out; I have a feeling that it will not fit as its a 12 and im a 10 now so I may have to go shopping.

Had a friend round for coffee this morning who commented how clean and tidy my house is .

My morning routine is doing well, evening is a bit more hit and miss so need to concentrate on that - when I know I am working I do the evening routine but when I have a day off i'm not so good. Managed the mission but no hotspots yet today.

positiveattitudeonly · 08/10/2009 18:17

tbni - Great news! Well done. Fingers crossed and keep us all posted cos I'm very nosey! You are certainly flying well too.

Mrs Doolittle - Camus may be even better at 10pm after a glass of wine - I'll let you know!

Jumbs - Thats my sort of "putting out clothes", too! I try the arguement that the weather may change over night, so how can you know what to wear 12 hours ahead??

Elliepac - Hope DD has a good night sleep and feels better tomorrow.

Hellsbelles - The one thing that gave me the biggest kick up the backside to stick to this was when I received an award at the end of the school year from work, for being the most untidy member of staff! It was given as a "joke" and I laughed and smiled and pretended that it was the most hilarious thing I had ever heard, but hated it! I was so upset, but it made me really change overnight. Since then i have become almost obsessed! I've had many comments from colleagues about how tidy my desk is this year! I have to admit that I am feeling far more organised in all areas of my life and I like it!

Everything is going ok here. Keeping up with the journal, still ticking madly!

CTGH - I've tried again!

Hi to everyone else. You are al doing really well. Keep it up!

Shoppingveggie · 08/10/2009 18:43

Hi-flyers!

I have had a quick flick through the thread, but if someone knows without having to look it up - could they tell me who did the control journal everyone has - hoping I can have a copy too

Thank yoooou

walkthedinosaur · 08/10/2009 18:48

The Control Journal was dreamteamgirl and it's fab! She's a star!

MiniMarmite · 08/10/2009 19:42

Evening All

Tibni great news about the job interview (and about being a size 10 )

CTGH not only are you helping me to get my house in order but giving me an education too!

Well I didn't do any of the things I said I was going to do last night, including the pampering Feeling a bit sorry for myself at the moment as my morning sickness seems to be lasting all day and I'm feeling exhausted.

Anyway, that's quite enough whinging from me and back to counting my lucky starts that I am pregnant.

I'm going to seek out a folder to start my control journal, watch locationLL, express some milk (DH and I are going away for the first time since DS was born tomorrow night ), shine stuff, sort clothes for tomorrow and hang out wet and fold dry washing. Then bath and bed. I might do my decluttering if I get time, oh and appliances too (I did wipe a bit of muck off the washing machine earlier, does that count?)

Pushmepullyou do you have some swimming lessons in your area you could sign up for? I never take DS swimming on my own but he loves his swimming lesson and it is in a really warm pool at a local school.

havingagiraffe · 08/10/2009 20:35

Lots to catch up on today so have had to skim it.

Know what you mean about being a different person but the same. I keep thinking that I'm a bit sad to have systems in place just to run the house but then I think I used to at work so what's different. I'm still not advertising it though.

CTGH Loving the quote - keeps you in the now so to speak.

Which I need today as am feeling that I've had a no take off day. Been out with DS nearly all day so all a bit chaotic at home now BUT I have....

Done morning routine
Put washing on and on line and in again
Same with a load of nappies

So not too bad but wanted to do more of my 'zone' today but am in a bit more tomorrow so will get more done.

(Plus - my ironing is starting to pile up again - shhhhhh)

Tibni Well done on the interview - Fingers crossed.

Eillipac Hope DD is on the mend. DS's cold is FINALLY on the way out - I hope!

BTW- Aquacleanse is a thing on my oven that is supposed to soften the grease with evaporated water - not really sure it does much but now I'm going to clean my oven more regularly it will be fine.

pushmepullyou · 08/10/2009 21:24

Hi all

tbni well done on the interview. I am having the opposite problem from you where my suit is a size 10 and I am a size 12 . only a few more pounds to go though. I will be back to my pre-pregnancy weight by the time DD is a year old!

positiveattitude mmmmm... wine... I'm not having any until tomorrow (see previous suit crisis), but could seriously do with a glass tonight.

minimarmite we don't have a public children's pool that near us and tbh I was a bit put off the private one when they explained in copious literature that if I paid them £5 per week every week until DD was 3 she might be able to swim a breadth of the pool. I am much keener now I'm feeling a bit more together generally though, so may bite the bullet and give it a go.

Feeling a bit down tonight as DH has an appointment to have his cholesterol checked in the morning as his optician said he had a ring round his iris which often means it is high . Am a bit worried about him and also rather selfishly that I am married to someone old enough to have high cholesterol and therefore older than I like to think of myself!

Anyway - I have excelled myself kitchen-wise tonight as I realised that tomorrow is the last day in the zone and really can't bear to leave it in itsa current state (or to spend my Friday night cleaning it!)

evening routine done
appliance mission done
cupboard doors and cooker hood cleaned
back door and catflap cleaned
Grubbiest bits of the ceiling cleaned

paranoiabigdestroyer · 08/10/2009 21:51

Oh dear, out all day today so nothing has happened chez paranoia but I did remember to defrost a casserole so that was ready for supper and my sink is shiny.

But really too tired to make packed lunch now so will just have to deal with that tomorrow morning.

Goodnight everyone - I have visions of you all hanging up your clothes for tomorrow and sinks shining across the land.

Bigboots · 08/10/2009 22:06

Have come to realise that I am an 'all or nothing' person. Manage the 'all' for about 3 days (at the beginning of this thread and at the beginning of the previous one) and then do precisely nothing for the next two weeks.

However, house is a tip and PIL arriving tomorrow lunchtime (so DH and I can have a sneaky night away ) so HAVE to get back on track tomorrow - I feel an early start coming on...will update progress tomorrow.

MiniMarmite · 08/10/2009 22:06

That's what it's all about paranoia, so much easier when you know you're not the only one shining your sink - I hate doing housework on my own!

Off to order a slow cooker to (hopefully) make my life easier. Will report back!

dreamteamgirl · 08/10/2009 22:16

shoppingveggie Control Journal was mine

email me if you want a copy jules_ ashford @ yahoo .com (squish of course)

CTGH I loved your Camus, although I feel quite uneducated not having heard of him

Have done my usual mid month disappear from the thread of course- too much going on at home, work and with my Freecycle groups and Slimming World forum ARGHHHHHHH - I need to stop saying yes to things!!!

OK, so heres a quote I like- had to google for exact wording:

Winning isn't everything, but wanting to win is.
Vince Lombardi

Also found this which I think is fabuolous

"Whether you think you can or whether you think you can't, you're right.
Henry Ford"

On the bright side, house is nice and kitchen was clear enough that I was able to do the whole weeks missions on Wednesday (I sneak peaked LOL)

Hope to properly back for a few days before I implode again!!

droitwichmum · 08/10/2009 22:18

Is it bedtime already? No idea where today has gone. Could happily have vegetated in front of telly but made myself do the things I had promised myself SO today I have

get dressed done
ironing done
clean kitchen appliances done
Hot Spot - computer desk again done - still needs more
writing up planner and life book mostly done just need to put birthdays in life book. Planner done and hanging up
shine sink done
also cleaned out saucepan cupboard

I've got a large bottle of red to share - anyone got a corkscrew?

dreamteamgirl · 08/10/2009 22:45

Oh no DWM now I need wine!!! White for me tho, and gotta love screw caps

Well done today BTW, you did good

stepaway · 09/10/2009 00:13

my to-do list for tomorrow morning:

shine sink
scrub out kitchen bin
vacuum upstairs (did downstairs this evening)
2 loads of laundry
mop kitchen floor

Go to work!!

Countingthegreyhairs · 09/10/2009 06:32

Morning all

baby step for Friday 9 October This is a very important step!!

day of being in the Kitchen, Zone 2

today's mission is to mop our kitchen floor's imperfectly!!

According to Flylady, today is a day of "Fun, Laughter and Togetherness" (pass the bucket)

I'm afraid for me it's going to be a day of office work, supermarket shopping, hospital appointments, school meetings, school runs and laundry (same as yesterday) so sorry not to reply to everyone individually, but I'll be back this evening!!

Keep going!!!

OP posts:
droitwichmum · 09/10/2009 06:33

Good morning fellow flutterers! Been awake since 4.45 thanks to DS and cats but ready for the fray (sort of).

Today's list
washing first load on
put yesterdays' ironing away done
shower
dress to shoes
breakfast
make packed lunch
walk to breakfast club/station
finish life book
15 min declutter - the old pantry which is now filled with 'stuff' for DS to make models with, and spiders...
Hot spot - that computer desk again!
Room rescue - spare bedroom (yikes!)
vacuum kitchen floor
shine sink

That looks quite a lot and I think there is a parents meeting at school tonight - heard nothing about it, just a one-liner amongst other stuff. Oh well, no work tomorrow so if it doesn't get done I can catch up then

DTG and BB start again today - I'll get some white wine in for tonight

Countingthegreyhairs · 09/10/2009 06:34

Oh dear

Just try that zone link again

Should have read:

last day of being in Zone 2, the kitchen

Countingthegreyhairs · 09/10/2009 06:35

PA - sorry - dashing off now - will "speak" to you tonight/over the w/e - have a good 'un

OP posts:
elliepac · 09/10/2009 07:01

Morning one and all.

DD still poorly. A bit better but not well enough to go to the childminders so another day off for me.

tibni well done on the interview and good luck. When is it?

jumbs if this theory works about putting clothes out, then my whole wardrobe is permanently ready to go!

PA i think we might be the same person. ALthough i didn't win any awards for my untidyness, it was a standing joke. Am making a concerted effort to keep my desk tidy and so far it is working (thank god because i haven't been in the last two days!) Don't go looking in my cupboards though!

minimarmite you are more than entitled to feel sorry for yourself because morning sickness sucks and wiping gink of washing machine definitely counts.

pushmepullyou hope DH's appointment goes alright. I know what you mean about the age thing. Whenever i do those guess the year things while listening to the radio i always get it wrong because my timing goes all out as i unconsciously take about 3 years off my age (putting me below the big 3 0)

bigboots just do what you can. Rome wasn't built in a day (how cheesy am I?)

droitwichmum how fabulously are you doing? Putting me to shame.

Am worn out now from all that scrolling up and down so a quick hello and wave to havingagiraffe, optimistic and ctgh.

Today's list:-
Dishwasher unloaded and reloaded
Washing
general tidy downstairs
missions in kitchen
take pork chops out of freezer
bathroom swish and swipe
tidy/clean dc's bedrooms
hotspot in hallway
15min declutter in my bedroom

Will check in later and partake in some wine.

GoldenSnitch · 09/10/2009 07:16

Had a check up with the midwife yesterday and she's given me the all clear so it's back to FLYing today.

Annoyingly Luckily DS woke me up at 6,30 this morning so I can make a head start!

elliepac · 09/10/2009 07:38

goldensnitch glad to hear everything is ok.
did you ever think you would be excited to getting back to housework
