Come on you slatterns, get your arses in gear, I stop posting for 2 days and you all start getting lazy................

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 27/12/2008 18:43

didn't see a single bump of a slattersn thread in the 2 days I've lurked. So here we are - a brand new slatterns thread to take us over to the new year (where I think we can safely say that one of our NY Resolution won't be keeping teh house tidy at all times )

I can officialy say that:

Paper lists of things to do are SHIT. They don't work, they don't tell you how well you're doing when you update to say what you've done, they get lost under the stuff still to be sorted, and they don't give you other unrelated banter while you're having a rest from it all

So - with that in mind.

Tonight (and I use the word quite loosely as I've slept the last 2 nights so suspect there will be little sleep to be found tonight) I need to:

  • Get my washing done
  • Dry it
  • Iron it all (it's taking over the dining room!)
  • Tidy and hoover the lounge
  • Clean kitchen worktops
  • Empty kitchen bins
  • Put dishwasher on

May add more stuff later as I realise it needs doing.

Happy new year all slatterns and especially to our leader (does that sound cultish?) FAQ for giving us our threads.

To another year of slatterns with semi clean houses.

Am on a healthily eating thing so a lot of my plans for today revolve around starting that. Oh and another resolution is to have better sleeping habbits and leave the twilight zone (no offence to them as they are lovely) but am so bad at strange sleeping patterns, I got up at 5 today though so hopefully will go to bed at a reasonable hour tonight! So here my list..

have a shower and wash hair DONE
have brekkie DONE
do dishes
tidy up front room
clean bathroom
change bed covers
put a wash on
go to shops
make a pot of quorn bolognase (for freezing in portions)
make a pot of soup (same)
take xmas decs down
tidy up bedroom

Good morning, I am fresh from my day of being a slattern and ready to try and keep some sort of a clean house
This morning I have to
Clean Kitchen/dining area
Clean sitting room
Sweep Hall
Dress and feed dd3
Take down decorations STARTED (took down some cards while waiting for kettle to boil)
Sort out laundry
Wash/dry all day

SecretSlattern · 02/01/2009 09:09

Happy new year to you GCDTT!

I am having a crisis clean this morning, can't seem to get anything done with DD around but I am starting work on Monday, she is going back to school on Tuesday so there is literally no time to do anything!

She will be playing in her room today whilst I try and tackle the kitchen and living room. Mum is coming round tomorrow to try and break the back of it with me. There's just so much to do. In fact, there is so much to get done, that I can't even face doing a list so am just going to throw myself into it with these 15 minute clean ups before acutually doing any cleaning .

Living Room Clean Up

Will pop back later once I have managed the 15 mins for each room. Good luck fellow Slatterns!

NCBirdy · 02/01/2009 09:53

Well, after my success on New Years Eve yesterday I managed

Sweep floors - including under sofas!
Wipe round sides and tables done
Quick run round bedrooms with hoover and bin bag

I did also manage another family gathering and meal and to clean up after it so at least I am now in no worse a position than yesterday - just no better either

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 02/01/2009 10:33

ok well I'm going to write my list, not sure how much I'll get done. I think I may have sinusitis (and conjunctivitis - woken up with horrible sticky/slightly runny eyes too) so feeling pretty lousy.

Ideally today I would like to

  • Get the dishwasher empty
  • Re-load it and put it on
  • Pack the few bits of the DS's stuff that I had to take out to use
  • Get DS3 changed and dressed
  • Tidy living room
  • Run hoover round
  • Load of washing
  • Get it dried
OP posts:
goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 02/01/2009 10:44

oh just realised I should perhaps add "get myself dressed" to my list...........

OP posts:
IllegallyBrunette · 02/01/2009 10:44

That sounds horrible Faq, i'd just do as little as possible today if i were you.

I have to....

Get dd's out of bed
Give dd's breakfast
Get dressed
Wash up
Put a wash on
Sort paperwork for Monday
Iron uniform
Clean bathroom
Tidy and clean dinning room
Tidy my room

Probably won't get all of that done today but will have a good go. Off to get dressed and kick dd's out of bed now.

SecretSlattern · 02/01/2009 10:48

Well, so far, I have managed to put all the clean clothes into piles and have put the DC's away. Mine and DH's is still sitting on the sofa but I can't put that away until I have tackled our bedroom a bit, and by that, I mean have actually cleared some space on the floor to be able to walk around the room .

DC's have been fed and watered and are now having story time, courtesy of my good friend CBeebies .

Have put a load of washing on which is just finishing now and have picked up everything from the living room that should not be in there. It is still in there however, but in a box, ready to be distributed back into the places they came from.

DH has gone to work all snippy because DD upturned a tube of smarties by accident, he shouted at her and sent her to her room and I told him the shouting was unnecessary. He didn't even bother saying goodbye. Twat. Still, at least it means I can get on now he's out of the way!

I have to pop out this afternoon to arrange with a friend about dropping off/collecting DD to/from school once I return to work on Monday. I don't know what I am going to do if she refuses, but she is going that way anyway and I'm going to offer to pay her.

FAQ hope you are feeling better soon. I know it's tough when you're feeling ropey, but just think how much better you will feel if you manage to tackle your list today. Get thee to the chemist for some eye drops. My mum swears by Brolene and as much as it does work, it always leaves me feeling as though I have got something stuck in my eye .

Christmas decs came down yesterday. Was sick of looking at them so they are waiting for DH to return to the cupboard, but as he is pissed with me, I reckon that's another job that I can add to my list.

Have quickly tidied around DD's room so again there is floor space. I invested in some cheap collapsible boxes from Wilkinsons and sorted all her crap toys into them. Did the same for DS but his are living in the corner of the living room atm because there is nowhere else for them to go.

Will be back later because all the while I'm posting about my little achievements, I'm not actually getting anything else done. Damn MN

TeenyTinyTorya · 02/01/2009 10:52

Happy New Year everybody! My New Year's resolution is to be more organised, especially round the house, in preparation for dc2's arrival. I expect to be saying exactly the same next New Year though, lol!

Today I need to -

-dry uniform for work
-dry rest of laundry
-have a shower and get dressed
-wash dishes
-stuff the toy I'm knitting
-sort and iron laundry

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 02/01/2009 10:52

urghh not sure I can muster up the energy to get them all sorted to get to town to a chemist today.......might just hat to tolerate it today and go tomorrow when it's just me to sort. I need milk and bread - but thankfully DS1 can now be trusted to pop to the corner shop for me to get such things so he'll be off there soon.

You're probably right I wil feel better if I get some of the housework done......

OP posts:
SecretSlattern · 02/01/2009 11:07

Lol at "arse glued to chair".

Think I'm suffering from the same condition

IllegallyBrunette · 02/01/2009 12:30

Right, I am back, have done a couple of things off my list and also seemed to end up cleaning out the kitchen cupboards I only went to put something away, and thought the one could do with a bit of organising and before I knew it i'd done them all.

Get dd's out of bed done
Give dd's breakfast done
Get dressed done
Wash up done
Put a wash on done
Sort paperwork for Monday
Iron uniform
Clean bathroom
Tidy and clean dinning room
Tidy my room

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 02/01/2009 12:32

well done IB

  • Get the dishwasher empty DONE
  • Get myself dressed DONE
  • Pop to the shop DONE
  • Re-load it and put it on
  • Pack the few bits of the DS's stuff that I had to take out to use
  • Get DS3 changed and dressed DONE
  • Tidy living room
  • Run hoover round
  • Load of washing
  • Get it dried

urghh my head feels like it's going to explode, runny nose has stopped. I lost it with DS1 and 2 a little while ago, ranted and stropped at them and dragged them all to the shop - but we've made up again since and I've apologised for being stroppy with them, explaining that I'm not well - so all is calm again for now......

OP posts:
SecretSlattern · 02/01/2009 12:37

Well done IB and FAQ for going out!

I have spent loads more time on MN and then went and hoovered (on my hands and knees) the hallway and DD's room. DC are now dressed although still got to do DD's hair. DS has had lunch but needs a clothes change.

Still to do:

-Kitchen (all of it )
-Bathroom (all of it )
-My room
-Hoover and dust in living room

Going out now but will be back to finish off later!

Have fun

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 02/01/2009 12:37

well i I think it was adrenalin from geting stroppy at the DS's that did it - but still I've been out, forgot to get any paracetomal or any other painkillers though

cikecaka · 02/01/2009 12:51

Havent had too productive of a morning. However I have cleared the kitchen/dining room of any trace of christmas apart from the christmas plates that I am going to use for lunch.
Have prepared and am cooking lunch
Have entertained my mother for the last hour and a half which was more mentally strenuous than anything else
Took out a wash and put in another wash.
Not much there off my list but it is a start. Would have done more if my mother hadnt called as she is such hard work she drains all energy from me

bigbaubleeyes · 02/01/2009 12:51

Hello errrr slatterns - whats your ethos? I tried fly thread and ... well.. I must be a slattern... I think????

Been ill over xmas hols not done anything except cook n do dishes - all other domestic tasks suspended I now have a house like a bag of shit that was lush a couple of weeks ago. Am I the only one who needs to

put posh glassess and crockery away from xmas dinner?
Put all new toys that are scattered through lounge into DS room (how the f**k they gonna fit in?)
Take out wrapping paper - this is in bags
Needs a bulldozer to get to laundry basket and skips to sort it into piles

Oh and there is still 'fairy dust' thats trodden throughout the house from a check up visit

Thank god for ravioli and party rings

Please tell me Im not the only one - still have pjs on so does DS neither sets match - oh the shame

I have made a fewl phone calls today though does this count? Right after my coffee......

giraffescantdancethetango · 02/01/2009 12:54

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 02/01/2009 12:55

hello bugbabuleeyes,

our ethos is something along the lines of post what you want/need to do for the day (even everyday stuff such as getting dressed, feeding the DC etc).

You copy and paste your list through the day with a little DONE next to what you've achieved.

If you don't finish your list, hey ho, there's always tomorrow.

We motivate and inspire each other on and try and keep our houses in some sort of relative order.

And yes phone calls count - they needed to be done and take time so definitely a job done for you today.

Oh and yes we have lots of coffee (and cigrattes for some of us) to keep us going

OP posts:
cikecaka · 02/01/2009 12:58

Welcome BBE, sounds like you are just like the rest of us, I have only joined this thread since christmas and found it to be a great help, its like someone constantly congratulating you for doing the housework.

You just need to post a list of things you need to do for the day and keep checking in as you get through them, (i think thats how it works).

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 02/01/2009 13:02

ooo giraffe - you're a genius, I've just checked my cupboard and I do have some lemsip in, no other adult medicine though, never got round to re-stocking it after last Arpil.........

Have just boiled the kettle - and think I may have a fried egg sandwich with it.

OP posts:
bigbaubleeyes · 02/01/2009 13:21

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 02/01/2009 13:24
