Come on you slatterns, get your arses in gear, I stop posting for 2 days and you all start getting lazy................

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 27/12/2008 18:43

didn't see a single bump of a slattersn thread in the 2 days I've lurked. So here we are - a brand new slatterns thread to take us over to the new year (where I think we can safely say that one of our NY Resolution won't be keeping teh house tidy at all times )

I can officialy say that:

Paper lists of things to do are SHIT. They don't work, they don't tell you how well you're doing when you update to say what you've done, they get lost under the stuff still to be sorted, and they don't give you other unrelated banter while you're having a rest from it all

So - with that in mind.

Tonight (and I use the word quite loosely as I've slept the last 2 nights so suspect there will be little sleep to be found tonight) I need to:

  • Get my washing done
  • Dry it
  • Iron it all (it's taking over the dining room!)
  • Tidy and hoover the lounge
  • Clean kitchen worktops
  • Empty kitchen bins
  • Put dishwasher on

May add more stuff later as I realise it needs doing.

You really are getting the hang of this sleeping lark FAQ!

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 01/01/2009 12:23

I am

didn't really sleep much after I got the DS's up.........slight issue of a hefty toddler clambering on and off me and boys squealing, but I did sleep in my bed again last night

JustKeepSingingCarols · 01/01/2009 12:55

Well done NC

& good sleeping FAQ

I am still tackling the laundry mountain - how did we make so much in just a few days????

And going to get rid of decorations in a bit - got fed up with them now.

Then will look at my list again, off to loft for boxes...

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 01/01/2009 12:58

ok it's slow progress - I've just finally got DS3 dressed (and only then because he was due to go down for a nap)......nothing else done so far

OP posts:
goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 01/01/2009 14:22

getting there - I had some wine (a whole 25cl bottle to myself LOL) last night, and have a stonking headache, it's not a hangover though, it's caffeine withdrawal - usually I drink gallons of coffee in the evenings, but I didn't last night, didn't have ANY!

Just made myself another strong one to try and kick start the system again

Slow progress here today - but I'm getting there (just)

  • Get DS3 dressed DONE
  • Get myself dressed
  • Sort the DS's stuff out for staying at exH's
  • Load dishwasher and put it on
  • Put soup in the freezer (currently in the fridge as I could't be arsed last night
  • Tidy in here and hoover
  • Shower DONE
OP posts:
JustKeepSingingCarols · 01/01/2009 14:39
  • get everyone dressed done
  • laundry, laundry, laundry ongoing
  • any ironing as a result of laundry

  • book cat feeder for when we are away next week
  • write list of what to pack for Center Parcs next week
  • get rid of lots of stuff we've cleared out to freecycle/charity shop/rubbish tip started
  • ebay/freecycle unwanted presents (sorry, harsh but true), esp ones for the DCs as they have so much already
  • Xmas decs down done & put away in loft
  • tidy post decs down started
  • try and find new homes for all new things
  • spend some time playing with our own new toys (ipod docking thing, etc...)

Can I join you guys? I think I joined in about a month ago but forgot all about it when I was ill (still am ill actually but have to get on with it all).

MY DD has been such a pain in the arse! I know that sounds horrible, love her really, lol. But she has suddenly got the seperation problems where as soon as I move more than 2 metres from her she screams the place down. NOT helping my housework at all!

Hoping to get some stuff done this evening as DH working till 11pm and didn't get much done today. ALthough all this depends on DD who was up till 2am last night for new year.

Min I want to get done tonight:
1 clothes wash
hang up clothes
washing up
Hoover living room
Clean kitchen
Tidy living room
Take rubbish out

If I get time, would be good if I could also:
Clean bathroom
Sweep and mop kicthen and bathroom
Set up new house phone upstairs
Tidy PC desk
Bath DD if she doesn't go to bed on time.

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 01/01/2009 18:46

hello Chloe.

Well I've done quite well with my list so far, got the boys stuff ready to go to exH's..........

The fact that today is Thursday so therefore almost 24hrs until it's needed (and that I've just made a prat of myself calling exH to ask when he was picking them up as he hadn't rung to say he was going to be late and he had to inform me that today was Thursday and not Friday is slightly irrelevant)

JustKeepSingingCarols · 01/01/2009 18:58

Oops FAQ !!!

At least you are ahead of yourself now! What will you do with the extra day?! LOL.

For tonight:

  • laundry, laundry, laundry
  • book cat feeder for when we are away next week
  • write list of what to pack for Center Parcs next week started
  • spend some time playing with our own new toys (ipod docking thing, etc...) started
  • dinner
  • early night....
goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 01/01/2009 18:58

I don't know what I'll do with my extra day, probably the housework I was intending on doing on Saturday (which I thought was tomorrow) so at least it'll be out of the way when the DS's do go to exH's

OP posts:
goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 01/01/2009 18:59

so I am currently cooking burgers and potato waffles in the oven for dinner for the DS's - as I didn't think I had to cook anything today so had nothing out of the freezer

OP posts:
JustKeepSingingCarols · 01/01/2009 19:12

Thank goodness for freezers!

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 01/01/2009 19:13

would have been scrambled eggs (without the toast hehe) or baked potatoes and cheese otherwise

I really have been a slattern today. Was owed a lot of lie-ins as Dh was very ill over christmas and everything was left to me. Got up at 12.30, got dressed, got dc dressed and we left dd3 at my sisters while myself, dh,and3 other dc went to the cinema and mcdonalds for dinner. Going to start afresh tomorrow.

JustKeepSingingCarols · 01/01/2009 20:08

cikecaka - sounds like a good day! I had a lie-in too as similar with DH being ill (he's been keeping me awake at night with his spluttering/sniffing/nose blowing). So i got up at 6 with the boys, then back to bed at about 7 when DH got up.
I didn't get up until 10.30 !! didn't believe the clock!

For tonight:

  • laundry, laundry, laundry still doing
  • book cat feeder for when we are away next week
  • write list of what to pack for Center Parcs next week started
  • spend some time playing with our own new toys (ipod docking thing, etc...) started
  • dinner DONE
  • early night....

even managed some ironing! started

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 01/01/2009 20:11

ok - right so it's thursday today, that means there's various bits of housework that do need to be done tonight/tomorrow (urggh) as I will have the DS's with me most of the day tomorrow

Tonight I must

  • Unload dishwasher (wouldn't have put it on earlier if I'd reliasied it was Thursday lol)
  • Tidy in here
  • Hoover
  • Load dishwaser
  • Load of washing
  • Get it dried
OP posts:
chloemegjess · 01/01/2009 20:17

I seem to have run out of washing powder!! LOL. I know I have some somewhere but can't find it at all! Shows what tidying up does!! Have washing in the washer ready to go but can't put it on! ARGH!

Have filled the sink ready for washing up, just letting it soak for a bit as it is from yesterday

Off to tidy living room

JustKeepSingingCarols · 01/01/2009 21:15

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 01/01/2009 21:26

I'm just having a coffee and fag before I start on my evening stuff, I "popped on the Wii" for 5 minutes to show DS1 one something.......htat was at 8pm, h e went to bed at 9 and I just got off a few minutes ago

OP posts:
thumbwitch · 02/01/2009 00:06

I don't think I even want to go back to my previous list - too embarrassing probably!

New list then:

  • collect paperwork to fill in spreadsheets for doing tax return
  • unload current wash and hang up to dry
  • put in next load
  • phone a carpenter to talk about adding a baluster rail to our staircases
  • clean the front room carpet (DH hoovered it but it's still pretty minging!)
  • put all bath and pedestal mats into wash (DS was a naughty little free-wee-er this pm while having his nappy changed!)
  • change bed linen

that'll do for now!

Happy New Year, slatterns - do we hope to improve this year?

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 02/01/2009 00:09

I've done nothing tonight, totaly got thrown by my days of the week mix-up.

Shall post a new list in the morning.......

Do we hope to improve???? Oh no - I think if we've joined this thread we no there's no real hope of us ever being Anthea Turner

OP posts:
goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 02/01/2009 00:11

and besides - I seem to have accidently started a long running thread/theme you know like the bBBAAAR, the FLYers, the Sanctuary etc etc - I never thought I'd manage to do that (I usually kill my own threads after replying to myself twice ) so don't want to lose it

So we're not ALLOWED to get better

OP posts:
thumbwitch · 02/01/2009 00:12

I live in hope that one day I will improve - but it is like hoping that one day I will be a size 10 again - it needs some form of external miracle, cos I ain't doing anything to help it!!!
