Come on you slatterns, get your arses in gear, I stop posting for 2 days and you all start getting lazy................

didn't see a single bump of a slattersn thread in the 2 days I've lurked. So here we are - a brand new slatterns thread to take us over to the new year (where I think we can safely say that one of our NY Resolution won't be keeping teh house tidy at all times )

I can officialy say that:

Paper lists of things to do are SHIT. They don't work, they don't tell you how well you're doing when you update to say what you've done, they get lost under the stuff still to be sorted, and they don't give you other unrelated banter while you're having a rest from it all

So - with that in mind.

Tonight (and I use the word quite loosely as I've slept the last 2 nights so suspect there will be little sleep to be found tonight) I need to:

  • Get my washing done
  • Dry it
  • Iron it all (it's taking over the dining room!)
  • Tidy and hoover the lounge
  • Clean kitchen worktops
  • Empty kitchen bins
  • Put dishwasher on

May add more stuff later as I realise it needs doing.

well done - I'm still getting through my clothes getting them dried, dinner is on the stove at the moment, I've also scrubbed my sink - following a horrible couoghing fit where I ended up being sick into the sink because of the coughing - it was already looking rank, so had a good scrub and bleach afterwards

OP posts:
Wintersun · 28/12/2008 21:53

So I did 3 more loads but still have another 2 to do. I don't know how that happened .

I still have clean clothes to put away - a mountain of them.

I have however;

hoovered
bulk cooked
made bread
cleaned kitchen
tidied living room

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 29/12/2008 00:27

bump for NCBirdy

I have done................

BUGGER ALL tonight, just going to have a fag, do a 15 minute whizz round in the kitchen, make a coffee and then sleep !!!!

OP posts:
NCBirdy · 29/12/2008 00:35

Ok, I am here

Right, tonight I must...

Have quick cig,
Drink quick Coffee,
Make list of things to do..

, am thinking that this may be a bit too slatternly

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 29/12/2008 00:36

so that's fine - it's a start - we all have to start somewhere

OP posts:
thumbwitch · 29/12/2008 00:42

Tonight I should have (and therefore still need to)

  • clear the airer of the dry washing into the airing cupboard
  • hang out the washing on the airer that I took out of the machine yesterday
  • take out the current load of washing in the machine
  • put in the next load of washing

Tomorrow I need to:

  • call the plumber AGAIN about the CH which still doesn't bloody well work properly (on upstairs but not downstairs and not up to temp)
  • clean out the car
  • vacuum and clean and vacuum again the front room carpet - it's minging!

oh there must be more - I can't add the general "tidy the whole house", I can't bear it!

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 29/12/2008 00:43

right I'm off to do my 15 minutes.............

OP posts:
NCBirdy · 29/12/2008 00:48

How is this for achievement!

Have quick cig, done
Drink quick Coffee, done
Make list of things to do.. done

NCBirdy · 29/12/2008 00:51

Ok, now on to the real stuff!

Clear the dressing room
Hoover the garage
Clear the utility
Go through kitchen cupboards
Clean my oven
Sort recycling
Got to the tip (may have to wait till morning for that!)
Tidy sitting room
Clear out car (with a shovel I think )

Argh, it all seems so much!

thumbwitch · 29/12/2008 01:05

i might be being a bit dense here, but you don't actually do all this stuff at night do you? I couldn't vacuum at night, it would wake DS and DH up!

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 29/12/2008 01:07

ok I'm back,

My dishwasher is now fully loaded (bar one bottle lid - which could be anywhere)

I've cleared and cleaned one worktop (it's the main one we use so useful to be clear lol.

I've emptied my main kitchen bin, and pu the stuff in the recycling/on top of the recycling bin out too.

I've still got more recyclig stuff to go out, but that's in the form of about 5 milk bottles, and severla Dr Pepper bottles on the other worktops .

That's me done for the night, going ot have a coffee and fag then go to bed - yes I'm actually feeling brave enough to try sleeing in my bed tonight - haven't slept in it for ermm, errrm, ermm a loooooooooong time (although did change the sheets recently lol).

Will make some of tomorrows list while I'm having my fag and coffee

OP posts:
goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 29/12/2008 01:09

thumbwitch - most people do it during the (UK) day time, but we have a couple of slatterns the otherside of the world, and some mad people like me occasionaly hoover at 11pm and later at night .

But generally during the day.........

oh and it's not at all uncommon for something to be posted on Monday's list of stuff to do to still be on the list on the Friday

OP posts:
NCBirdy · 29/12/2008 01:09

TW, I do hte quiet/downstairs stuff at night then run the hoover round whilst the dcs get dressed etc in the morning. My hteory is that I have a tidy house at the start of the day - nice idea!

thumbwitch · 29/12/2008 01:11

phew, that's ok then!
Ds is much too much of a light sleeper for me to do much moving stuff around when he is in bed. DH, of course, could sleep through a hurricane.

NCBirdy · 29/12/2008 01:12

Oooh, get you FAQ! acieving on so many levels tonight! I so hope your sleep problems are eased now, it would be such a freedom for you to be well rested!

Clear the dressing room
Hoover the garage
Clear the utility
Go through kitchen cupboards done
Clean my oven
Sort recycling
Got to the tip (may have to wait till morning for that!)
Tidy sitting room 1/2done
Clear out car (with a shovel I think )

I need to step it up a bit I think!

NCBirdy · 29/12/2008 01:13

So are you non-gb then TW or are you another late night lady?

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 29/12/2008 01:15

ok tomorrow's list (Monday)

  • Get myself dressed
  • Get DS's sorted
  • Load of washing (possibly - actually probably lol)
  • Empty dishwasher
  • Pop to Morrisons
  • Finishg tidying kitchen worktops
  • Take rest of the rubbish out
  • Tidy lounge/diner floor
  • Clear/Clean dining room table (the DS's are currently piling things in the middle to make space for their table mats to eat their meals
  • IRONING (when DS3 has his nap in the afternoon)
  • Put clothes away
  • Hoover
  • Sort dinner
  • Boys in bed
  • Meeting to plan January (eek!!!) hymns
  • Put dishwasher on
  • Tidy kitchen floor
  • Clean kitchen and bathroom floors

Think that's it for now.......actually some of this list will almost certainly carry over into Tuesday but hey ho I can always live in hope of getting it all done

OP posts:
goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 29/12/2008 01:19

hey don't sweat it NC - we're slatterns on this thread, things on the list can stay on your daily lists for as long as you want (or can cope with it not being done lol).

You watch and see how often "mop/clean kitchen floor appears on my daily lists" and doesn't get a triumphants DONE next to it .

I have extremely forgiving dark red quarry stone tiles on my kitchen floor, DS3 doesn't go into the kitchen at al (except on bath nights when he runs through to the bathroom) so it goes a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time between cleans
