Come on you slatterns, get your arses in gear, I stop posting for 2 days and you all start getting lazy................

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 27/12/2008 18:43

didn't see a single bump of a slattersn thread in the 2 days I've lurked. So here we are - a brand new slatterns thread to take us over to the new year (where I think we can safely say that one of our NY Resolution won't be keeping teh house tidy at all times )

I can officialy say that:

Paper lists of things to do are SHIT. They don't work, they don't tell you how well you're doing when you update to say what you've done, they get lost under the stuff still to be sorted, and they don't give you other unrelated banter while you're having a rest from it all

So - with that in mind.

Tonight (and I use the word quite loosely as I've slept the last 2 nights so suspect there will be little sleep to be found tonight) I need to:

  • Get my washing done
  • Dry it
  • Iron it all (it's taking over the dining room!)
  • Tidy and hoover the lounge
  • Clean kitchen worktops
  • Empty kitchen bins
  • Put dishwasher on

May add more stuff later as I realise it needs doing.

right I'm off to bed - I'm TIRED

OP posts:
NCBirdy · 29/12/2008 01:37

I bet youhave never been so happy to be tired!

Clear the dressing room
Hoover the garage
Clear the utility
Go through kitchen cupboards done
Clean my oven
Sort recycling
Got to the tip (may have to wait till morning for that!)
Tidy sitting room 1/2done done
Clear out car (with a shovel I think )

Thanks FAQ, I think some of this may stay a while, although I do have my own little technique - I always start with the stuff that doesn't really need to be done. So, if my mother is visiting then I do the cupboards/hoover bedrooms etc first because I know that I will have to do things such as tidy kitchen and sweep floors. I makes me work just a little bit faster!

Anyway, I am going to bed now, hopefully I will be up early and get some more things off my list

thumbwitch · 29/12/2008 01:45

NCB, I am GB-based (for now) but a real night owl. Plus still bf'ing and DS usually wakes up for his last feed round about now (20 mins ago) so I rarely go to bed before this last feed.

But I am also practising for when we get to Oz in May(ish)!

NCBirdy · 29/12/2008 01:50

Ooh, Oz, how fantastic! Are you moving or just a holiday? I spent (a very short) time in Oz and loved it so much!

Anyway, I really am going to bed now. I have just been waiting for the dryer to finish! (forgot to put that on my list hang on...)

Clear the dressing room
Hoover the garage
Clear the utility
Go through kitchen cupboards done
Clean my oven
Sort recycling
Got to the tip (may have to wait till morning for that!)
Tidy sitting room 1/2done done
Clear out car (with a shovel I think )
Put wasing ing washer, washing in dryer and fold washing done

That is better

thumbwitch · 29/12/2008 02:01

moving out there - DH is Australian and he wants to go back to his family.

I am also going to bed, having done NONE of my washing chores - am a real slattern.

NCBirdy · 29/12/2008 02:04

Sounds fab to me - mind you I have short visit rose tinted glasses on of course

ComeWhineWithMe · 29/12/2008 09:08

ComeWhineWithMe · 29/12/2008 09:46

No I haven't even started mine yet though dc are on wii and I am slobbing researching on MN.

cikecaka · 29/12/2008 09:51

Would love an industrial size washing machine and dryer to cope with the amount of washing and drying I have . Think I will start on downstairs loo as it is he smallest space to do

ComeWhineWithMe · 29/12/2008 09:57

Well I have just put in second load of washing and emptied dryer and put another load in .

I know what you mean about bigger washers when we move I am seriously thinking about getting two washers to cope with six dc I need it .

Just discovered my washing up liquid has all gone so ds has gone to get me some .

cikecaka · 29/12/2008 10:25

I have finished downstairs loo. Going to clean hall now so if people look in the house will appear clean. Unfortunately my drier has given up and my airer has collapsed under the weight of the clothes so relying on the radiators in the house!! pita

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 29/12/2008 10:39

ok I've just got up

Took ages to fall asleep last night - last time I looked at the clock it was 2.15. Then the alarm (darn thing must have left it switched on lol), woke me up at 7.30, then dozed on and off until about 1/2hr ago.

DS1 and 2 were doing a stirling job of entertaining DS3 in his cot (think he woke up about 9ish!_.

So I've got loads to do and hard

OP posts:
cikecaka · 29/12/2008 10:44

Hate not being able to sleep, I was in bed at 8.30 last night and dh and dd3 (22 months) have both being very ill over christmas and I have been left to do everything so it eventually caught up on me last night, hence why I am so anxious to get house clean today because I have a lot more energy.
Have cleaned hall, ready now to battle sitting room!

ComeWhineWithMe · 29/12/2008 10:56

Just having breakfast myself and going to start on bathing and clothes mountain.

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 29/12/2008 11:00

oh I'm not complaining about it taking about 1hr to get to sleep - it's the first time I've slept in my bed for a LOOOOOOOONG time, and that's 5 nights with a reasonable amount of sleep in a row now .

Right suppose I'd better get on - just had a coffee and quick fag, we're all still in our PJ's, DS1 and 2 are emptying the dishwasher for me.

Think I'll scrap the morrisons and just go to the local shop later, not desperate for anything.

ooooo you're making me loook extremely slatternly, DS1 is now dressed, but DS2 is still faffing around upstairs finding his clothes (with DS1 "helping"), DS3 wandering around in his PJ's still - going to have to change him in a minute, his nappy is rather wet and starting to fall down - I'm still in my dressing gown and PJ's too

If it helps FAQ my dc are still in their PJs and are being babysat by the PS2

Is it ok to keep adding to your list with things you have done instea of the things you should ave been doing from the original list? I am thinking that it helps with my sense of achievement - and explains the long gaps which has to be good doesn't it?

Clear the dressing room
Hoover the garage done
Clear the utility done
Go through kitchen cupboards done
Clean my oven
Sort recycling done
Sort through dc drawers and pull out old/small clothes for recycling done
Go to the tip (may have to wait till morning for that!) done
Tidy sitting room done
Clear out car (with a shovel I think )1/2done
Put washing in washer, washing in dryer and fold washing done
Put more washing in washer, washing in dryer and fold washing done
Tidy my room done
Make my bed
Clean Bathrooms

blossomsmine · 29/12/2008 11:52

Do you mind if i join in??
I have done nothing for days, so here goes...
Make a start on washing
go up garden and find dry (hopefully) washing in tumble dryer
put more drying in tumble dryer
tidy bedrooms
hoover through
mop floors

That will do for now

cikecaka · 29/12/2008 11:55

I am sure they wont mind blossomsmine, I am an intruder this morning and they have been very nice to me . I have just done my dishes and now to clean worktops and sweep kitchen floor

NCBirdy · 29/12/2008 12:14

As far as I know all are welcome - the more slatterns the better as it makes us feel safe to run in a pack

I now have a shiny sink

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 29/12/2008 12:17

oh absolutely NC! I often add things which I've done but which were omitted from the list.

then at least if I get to the end of the day and nothing on my original list is done I can still I've done something

And - yes everyone welcome
