Come on you slatterns, get your arses in gear, I stop posting for 2 days and you all start getting lazy................

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 27/12/2008 18:43

didn't see a single bump of a slattersn thread in the 2 days I've lurked. So here we are - a brand new slatterns thread to take us over to the new year (where I think we can safely say that one of our NY Resolution won't be keeping teh house tidy at all times )

I can officialy say that:

Paper lists of things to do are SHIT. They don't work, they don't tell you how well you're doing when you update to say what you've done, they get lost under the stuff still to be sorted, and they don't give you other unrelated banter while you're having a rest from it all

So - with that in mind.

Tonight (and I use the word quite loosely as I've slept the last 2 nights so suspect there will be little sleep to be found tonight) I need to:

  • Get my washing done
  • Dry it
  • Iron it all (it's taking over the dining room!)
  • Tidy and hoover the lounge
  • Clean kitchen worktops
  • Empty kitchen bins
  • Put dishwasher on

May add more stuff later as I realise it needs doing.

FAQtothefuture · 06/01/2009 10:03

things are slow here, DS3 didn't have a nap yesterday - seemed to have worked great - he only took about 20 minutes to drop off to sleep (as opposed to the 1 1/2hrs I've had for a week or so).

But this morning he's in the most foul mood, obviously very tired and doing my head in.

I have got him dressed though..........

pushchair · 06/01/2009 11:02

Now need list for tomorrow

Dress me-done
Breakfast me-done, just at 10.58
Dress DDs2+3-done
Packed lunch DD1-done, she did it herself!
Tidy Kitchen-done
Shopping
Return uniform
Lunch
Hoovering
Pick up DD1
Dry washing
Washing into machine

Anything else that comes up

Well that does look better than it feels. Feels like I have done nothing and I have that horrible feeling of wading through mud. Every room I go into has so much to do in it and I keep picking up bits and pieces to put away and end up carrying them round and eventually putting down somewhere else. Feeling of Dont Know Where To Start.
Guess thats why the list is good. Follow the list.Follow the list. Follow the list.

FAQtothefuture · 06/01/2009 11:04

nothing else happened here yet, DS3 only stopped whinging/screaming/crying about 15 minutes ago and I'm trying to "regoup" myself before he starts again/I start doing stuff

I am letting dd watch Curious George before dinner ,then we are going to a friends at 1.30 to see her new baby .
Its going to be odd here next week without DD around for three days ,she is starting nursery I think I am going to dedicate one day of the week to doing a massive clean .
Only got until May though until another LO is around to take up all my time .

FAQtothefuture · 06/01/2009 11:31

Only 1 rule........

If you complete more than 3 (proper full day) lists in a week you're OUT

cikecaka · 06/01/2009 11:35

Why does clothes around the house make it look so untidy .
I have done nothing apart from washing this morning. Have been on the computer.

pushchair · 06/01/2009 11:41

Am not doing stuff. Am on computer. Don't want to do it. Oh hell. It's cold. DD3 screaming because I wouldn't let her put on wet pajamas-[the ones in washing basket waiting to be hung up]. Bleugh!!!!!

FAQtothefuture · 06/01/2009 11:43

pushchair - I'm not doing stuff ether,

About to change DS3's bottom, give him milk and chuck him (almost literally ) in his cot for a nap, right now I don't care how long he keep sDS2 awake tonight (and therefore how much of a PITA DS2 will then be tomorrow) he's doing my head

pushchair · 06/01/2009 11:46

Can't seem to get up off chair even though its freezing and I should at least go and turn thermostat up. RIGHT massive effort, loud ripping noise as arse peeled off seat and upstairs.............

GoodAdvice · 06/01/2009 13:53

Hi, I am new around here and wondered if I could join you all? I am not great at housework and would probably benefit from a virtual support network of like-minded souls

FAQtothefuture · 06/01/2009 13:54

hell GoodAdvice, yes everyone welcome, just post your list and off you go to do it (or back to Active Conversations to waste some more time )

GoodAdvice · 06/01/2009 13:56

Thank you FAQ, here is my first list for a renewed attempt at being a domestic goddess (ok maybe that is pushing it!)

Wipe down kitchen sides
sweep through downstairs
Tidy bedrooms
Hoover upstairs
Hoover Attic
Collect Photos
Mop downstairs
Take down decs and put in boxes (I know I am late!)
Put decs in garage ready for next year

FAQtothefuture · 06/01/2009 13:58

sorry you've come to the wrong thread if your looking to become a domestic goddess

We have only 1 rule, and that is no more than 3 completed (daily) lists in a week or you're out (completed smaller "must do this before 10am" type are allowed).

GoodAdvice · 06/01/2009 14:03

Well I think I will manage to be ok with that, is there a lower limit at which you are kicked out as being a minging slob rather than a Slattern? If there is you had best tell me now so as I can be ready for it when my good intentions wear off!

FAQtothefuture · 06/01/2009 14:03

no we don't have a lower limit

and if you post things such as

"get dressed"
"feed children"

etc - then you'll always have something mark as done LOL

KingCanuteIAm · 06/01/2009 14:19

Hmm, am being a bit flakey about my name - I keep changing my mind about which is better... what do you think FAQ?

FAQtothefuture · 06/01/2009 15:34

ermm which is the other option???
