Come on you slatterns, get your arses in gear, I stop posting for 2 days and you all start getting lazy................

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 27/12/2008 18:43

didn't see a single bump of a slattersn thread in the 2 days I've lurked. So here we are - a brand new slatterns thread to take us over to the new year (where I think we can safely say that one of our NY Resolution won't be keeping teh house tidy at all times )

I can officialy say that:

Paper lists of things to do are SHIT. They don't work, they don't tell you how well you're doing when you update to say what you've done, they get lost under the stuff still to be sorted, and they don't give you other unrelated banter while you're having a rest from it all

So - with that in mind.

Tonight (and I use the word quite loosely as I've slept the last 2 nights so suspect there will be little sleep to be found tonight) I need to:

  • Get my washing done
  • Dry it
  • Iron it all (it's taking over the dining room!)
  • Tidy and hoover the lounge
  • Clean kitchen worktops
  • Empty kitchen bins
  • Put dishwasher on

May add more stuff later as I realise it needs doing.

SecretSlattern · 04/01/2009 10:48

Morning all. Had a busy day yesterday as Mum came round for crisis cleaning. Place doesn't look like it's been touched though .

My list for today:

-Get myself and the DCs washed and dressed
-Breakfast Done
-Wash up, dry and put away
-Clean kitchen surfaces
-At least 2 loads of washing
-Food shopping
-Iron school uniform and work clothes
-Find DD's school books and reading record
-Sort out too small baby clothes for friend Half done
-Clean bathroom including washing the floor and putting the mats back down in the bathroom
-Big bath night
-Put clothes away Half done

Having a bit of a slow start today. DS thankfully slept until 10 so have only just finished breakfast. Have also woken up with a bit of a sniffle so have taken some pills to fight it before it grows into something more nasty. I'm starting work tomorrow and could do without this flu bug thing.

JustKeepSwimming · 04/01/2009 11:12

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 04/01/2009 11:55

first thing I have to do is WARM UP

The church heating had broken, and by the end of the service I literally couldn't feel my fingers tips, or my toes. Not helped by a sub zero draft that comes from one of the windows behind the organ, and keys the were so cold that it felt like I was playing on ice cubes all morning.

Thank GOD I'm not playing for tonights service!

FAQ - sounds like the staffroom at my work - sweets, lip balm, everything is solid after a few minutes in the cold there!

-have shower and get dressed
-wash dish mountain done
-vacuum downstairs done
-clean kitchen done
-put on a load of laundry done
-do something with the ironing mountain done
-tidy up done

Finally, some progress! I'm off out with my friends tonight, so have a few more things to do before I go.

-pack bag for overnight stay
-clean bathroom
-dry wash load

OK I've just had my hands in warm water in the sink and I can now just about feel them again, think the best way to tackle this is in order, so going to have a coffee (kettle is boiling as a I type) and tackle each job in order on the list...........

I'll have 4 1/2 hours (by the time I've had a coffee) - which sounds like LOADS but I'm sure I'll end up getting sidetracked/taking ages over some of it.......

FAQ - I wasn't sure what you meant 'play' at church, i am impressed by the organ playing, v tricky instrument!!

LRB978 · 04/01/2009 13:33

Hi

Have decided to come and see if this can get me motivated. My house is a tip and I am really struggling to get anything done. I hate housework at the best of times, but the mess has really taken over

I think I'm gonna start with a small managable list, cos if I listed everything that needs doing, I'd be sat here typing all day, and have anothe excuse not to start the cleaning (yes I am that bad! )

So:
Have bath and get dressed DONE
Give DS bath - he's there as I type
Tidy round living room
Do dishes
Clean sides
Sweep floor in kitchen side of kitchen/diner (ignore the diner side for today)
Do two loads of washing.
Make my lunch for tomorrow
Make DS's lunh for tomorrow
Make evening meal

Here goes nothing.....

LRB978 · 04/01/2009 13:45

Give DS bath - still there
Tidy round living room DONE (was almst tidy, tis the only room I have worked on recently)
Do dishes
Clean sides
Sweep floor in kitchen side of kitchen/diner (ignore the diner side for today)
Do two loads of washing.
Make my lunch for tomorrow
Make DS's lunch for tomorrow
Make evening meal

  • Get up and dressed DONE
  • Finish sorting toys/toy box DONE
  • Play at church DONE
  • Ironing DONE
  • Make DS1's bed DONE
  • Put clothes away DONE
  • Clear/clean computer desk DONE
  • Clear piano and table DONE
  • Tidy dining half of lounge diner almost finished
  • Take boxes upstairs (decorations/ebay stuff)
  • Hoover
  • Sort bookcase (and drawers of said bookcase)
  • Pack stuff off bookcase that isn't needed before our move (whenever that may be)
  • Load dishwasher and (and put it on?)
  • Sort dinner

Taking me a bit longer as I'm giving it a proper clean but there's only a few bits left on the floor then I can run the hoover round and tackle the bookcase - EEK!
