Come on you slatterns, get your arses in gear, I stop posting for 2 days and you all start getting lazy................

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 27/12/2008 18:43

didn't see a single bump of a slattersn thread in the 2 days I've lurked. So here we are - a brand new slatterns thread to take us over to the new year (where I think we can safely say that one of our NY Resolution won't be keeping teh house tidy at all times )

I can officialy say that:

Paper lists of things to do are SHIT. They don't work, they don't tell you how well you're doing when you update to say what you've done, they get lost under the stuff still to be sorted, and they don't give you other unrelated banter while you're having a rest from it all

So - with that in mind.

Tonight (and I use the word quite loosely as I've slept the last 2 nights so suspect there will be little sleep to be found tonight) I need to:

  • Get my washing done
  • Dry it
  • Iron it all (it's taking over the dining room!)
  • Tidy and hoover the lounge
  • Clean kitchen worktops
  • Empty kitchen bins
  • Put dishwasher on

May add more stuff later as I realise it needs doing.

  • Start sorting out the boxes of stuff in my room properly
  • Dinner
  • Download Turbo lister onto this computer DONE

Just put second wash on (first not hung up as planning to hang in DDs room when she wakes up).

Done first loads of washing up but still got more to do (we go through loads and I like to leave it to dry instead of use a tea towel so do it in bits.

My cats are being a nightmare (whole other thread) so have also had to clear up poo etc from them

And actually, having the same problem with DD as she is having runny nappies that keep leaking!!

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 03/01/2009 17:54

ok I've just wasted another hour.

Going to sort myself some dinner in a minute, then finish in here,

Going to swap "sort boxes in my room" for sort bookcase down here......

I have boxes now so may pack up the photos that are in the drawers..........

OP posts:
JustKeepSwimming · 03/01/2009 19:29

Back to my proper list:

  • ironing
  • remove crap stuff from our room to reclaim it and find new homes for it (or get rid....) started
  • tidy/sort guest rooms, find anything left behind & decide whether to post it on or keep for next visit (currently 2 pairs of slippers & a jumper) started
  • get rid of lots of stuff we've cleared out to freecycle/charity shop/rubbish tip started
  • ebay/freecycle unwanted presents (sorry, harsh but true), esp ones for the DCs as they have so much already
  • Xmas decs down DONE & put away in loft
  • tidy post decs down started
  • try and find new homes for all new things
  • spend some time playing with our own new toys (ipod docking thing, etc...) started
  • get back on track with weight loss...

+:

  • pack for Center Parcs
  • check cat food supplies
  • package up slippers to post to sister
  • sort kitchen & dishwasher
  • strip beds monday morning ready for cleaners to remake on tuesday ((blush) that i have cleaners and that i still live in chaos!!!)
  • check spare bedlinen is clean & dry
  • leave notes for cleaners & cat feeder
  • pre-register for C.P.
  • check borrowed bike rack fits our car & DH's bike
  • move books from playroom upstairs & books out of DCs new room to new spare room (maybe getting rid of some on the way....!)

trying to get everything out of my head and written down so i can keep checking back to remind myself what i need to do!

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 03/01/2009 20:38

ok - 1/2 way through the lounge diner, just need to go through the toy box, may as well purge that now I've got some boxes at hand to chuck the stuff into that I want to get rid of.

Then it's just the "dining" half of the room to do. Hopefully shouldn't take quite so long as the other half as less furniture to move around to get out crap from behind

OP posts:
TeenyTinyToria · 03/01/2009 20:44

I'm having an awful day today - done practically nothing.

-dry uniform for work done
-have shower and get dressed done
-wash dishes
-dry laundry done
-tidy up toys dh did
-go to see my mum done

Looks ok on screen, but I actually have 2 days worth of dishes built up and nothing in my cupboards. I've been at work now all day and can't be bothered doing any housework - bleh!

cikecaka · 03/01/2009 21:22

I would like to announce that I have finally sorted out all the clothes that was filling my travel cot to the top in my room.
I have also taken down all the decorations in my sitting room.
Problem is: I will be so pleased with myself for doing it, it willprobably be another week before I do anything else productive,.

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 03/01/2009 21:25

yay well done - I currenlty have most of the contents of the toy box strewn over the (once clean) living room floor, having a coffee and fag before I hoover the inside of it (lots of bisucit crumbs ) and chuck back in what I'm keeping.........

Not sure the ironing is going to get done tonight LOL

OP posts:
goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 03/01/2009 21:26

TTT - why not just do a few bits so you have stuff for the morning and then tackle the rest of it in the morning?

You could leave it to soak overnight so it'll be easier.

OP posts:
TeenyTinyToria · 03/01/2009 21:37

Good idea, I should do that FAQ. I'm just feeling thoroughly knackered at the moment, thought I had got to the "blooming" phase, but obviously not lol!

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 03/01/2009 21:38

I have a dishwasher, yet I stillfrequently just throw in the bits I need in the morning and set it going if I don't have the energy/motivation to round all the bits and pieces up

Though that's going to have to stop.........as one of the DS's new "jobs" this year is to empty the dishwasher in the mornings before school..............

OP posts:
thumbwitch · 03/01/2009 22:46

So far:

  • collect paperwork to fill in spreadsheets for doing tax return
  • unload current wash and hang up to dry
  • put in next load
  • phone a carpenter to talk about adding a baluster rail to our staircases
  • clean the front room carpet (DH hoovered it but it's still pretty minging!)
  • put all bath and pedestal mats into wash (DS was a naughty little free-wee-er this pm while having his nappy changed!)
  • change bed linen
  • make banana cookies to use up dodgy ageing bananas - DONE
  • pay Bookclub bill
  • take down DS's birthday cards - DONE

Am working on the principle that it is still the holidays and will resume normal (semi)functional level on monday. It's not a good principle, but it works for me.

Today it seemed far more important to go for a lovely walk with DH and DS to the frozen pond.
