Decluttering Thread 13 - Hopefully Lucky For Some!

Good morning fellow sorters, chuckers & sellers! Starting a new thread as No 12 was almost full. This thread is one of my favourites & I find it hugely inspiring. I have a very long way to go as my house still resembles a jumble sale but I have got rid of a lot over the last few months plus made some money into the bargain. Last night I transferred several carrier bags of clothes that are on Vinted into a pink velvet storage chest that, ironically, hadn’t been assembled & was taking up space in DH’s office 🤣🤣🤣 It’s now in front of the storage cubes in the lounge & honestly, the pleasure I get from seeing it & the space created is immense.
I need a day to dedicate to Vinted as I have bags of clothes still to photograph & upload, some clothes to try on which may end up on there too & some TJC rings to photograph for selling. They were quite expensive but I rarely wore them & now they’re too big. I have a huge car bill to pay so the extra pennies will be great. Have a productive day all!

Still working on the kitchen. Did 2 more cupboards today

Bin: 10x expired food
Vinted/sold locally: skirt

Total: 1381

Hasthisreallyhappened · 31/08/2026 10:26

Yey. Almost there, well in the house. Having a coffee and a scroll as my Eufy robovac marches round the lounge hoovering. Just three bags to be delivered to correct places and put away and hopefully the rest of my day is my own (still got the garage to do but looking forward to sitting in a tidy house)

TidyClutterIsStillClutter · 31/08/2026 17:00

Out - fifteen more books for the pile. First I check that each one is available as an audiobook, then add it to the out pile.

had a long chat with chatgpt about fitting into a studio apartment when and/or if it becomes necessary. Came up with very good storage solutions and layout. I’m more positive now about being able to make this happen.

CheesePlantFeet · 31/08/2026 23:34

Still going through the kitchen...

Charity shop: mug, travel mug, teapot, water jug, 2x miniatures, 2x plates, 5 dishes
Bin / recycling: 2x leaky water bottles

Also yesterday - kid chose his favourite bath toys and I was able to declutter the six he no longer wants.

Pigtailsandall · 02/09/2026 07:34

Last few things out before the move:

Paint primer tub
Poster and a Poster tube
Vacuum storage bag
Old gym bag
4 dinner plates
Nail varnish
Notepad
4 playdoh jars and 2 sets of moulds
Old bath towel
Period pants
Kid's ball & dress-up costume
Sheet with elastic gone

And finally, I sold the pram! Out went the actual frame, newborn carrycot, raincoat and other accessories. Huge relief

Total outs for the year is 1796

TheNoWord · 02/09/2026 10:05

Just done my flour cupboard. It’s only just now I realise I have such a thing. I have about 12 bags of flour. Gluten-free. In all varieties. General flour in all varieties of plain, self raising And bread. Plus some special bread flour. Plus a self raising flour that is wholemeal. Plus a self raising flour that is also something else supposedly for sponge cakes and it’s totally rank bought by Accident and had to re make the cake.

any little bits were lobbed in the bin or used to fill up other open bags.

Then there’s semolina, 00 pasta flour, and gram flours.

all my yeast were out of date years ago and went in the bin.

all jam and excess honey went in a larder cupboard in the garage (with a lot of the flours) to make way for my empty tubs with lid on collection I use every day.

I did set a 45 minute timer and went over by 30 minutes but I’m now sat with the satisfyingly nice cup of tea thinking my utility room is now free of all those plastic tubs with lids on.

Happy Sunday everyone 😃

@TheNoWord I also started thinking about Christmas today. I have a big box under my bed that I buy random things normally with somebody intended and then forget about it. After my cuppa I’m going to go and look at it and write a list of what’s in there.

CheesePlantFeet · 06/09/2026 14:46

@TheNoWord what is the Christmas Cleanalong? Sounds both motivational and very useful!

I've gone through a couple of kitchen drawers, my dressing table and I've swapped over my summer and winter clothes. I love how much I find that I can say goodbye to when I do the clothes swap. I have a lovely big pile for vinted now, some already listed and sold.

Charity shop: 2x trousers, 2x shirt, 4x tops, dress
Bin / recycling: 3x utensils, 2x skin care, hair band
Vinted: boots, jacket, skirt, shirt

Total: 1416

TidyClutterIsStillClutter · Yesterday 15:59

Flattened by awful virus over the past week, and could hardly think straight in order to make decisions. Managed to get moving again today for a few minutes at a time.

One bag for life full of books left this morning for donation. Started filling a new bag later this afternoon. An ancient flat screen tv is waiting for someone stronger than me to get it to the garage then the dump.

Riverswims · Yesterday 16:22

hello again everyone 👋🏽
long time no post think I’ve forgotten some things?
went away in the summer and brought very little back only a sweatshirt coz the room was too air conditioned and good American medicines 🤷🏽‍♀️ DD hit Sephora hard 🙄 going through “everything” again and started indexing another cupboard,
gave away a backpack out
bag of recycling/rubbish out
non working digital radio out
lovely free desk in which prompted the room declutter
sure there’s something else?
hope you’re all doing well?

Riverswims · Yesterday 19:16

I also have more empty storage generated by ⬆️

RubySparrow · Yesterday 22:15

I’m still working through my food cupboards!
Anyone complaining about my cooking can make their own! I’m using AI for recipes, I know it’s killing the planet but it’s really useful 🫣
Sold a few items on Vinted!
Remembered to return a couple of items I bought then have changed my mind!
Well really just looked at my clutter and sent them back!
Cancelled a couple of book orders as I have about 20 books still to read!
Now have 2 more empty boxes!

Kikimusnik · Today 13:32

I have had such a busy few weeks..what with kids back and school and various illness hitting the household 🙄

I did manage to sort out 4 bags for Anglo to collect tomorrow. Which is a relief.

My oldest sorted out his shoes/trainers he no longer wants. 3 pairs gone..

I will be making a start on toys next week, to get a head start for Christmas and my youngest has a birthday on 28th December..so it's a bit manic. I think I will limit what people buy etc
