Decluttering Thread 13 - Hopefully Lucky For Some!

Good morning fellow sorters, chuckers & sellers! Starting a new thread as No 12 was almost full. This thread is one of my favourites & I find it hugely inspiring. I have a very long way to go as my house still resembles a jumble sale but I have got rid of a lot over the last few months plus made some money into the bargain. Last night I transferred several carrier bags of clothes that are on Vinted into a pink velvet storage chest that, ironically, hadn’t been assembled & was taking up space in DH’s office 🤣🤣🤣 It’s now in front of the storage cubes in the lounge & honestly, the pleasure I get from seeing it & the space created is immense.
I need a day to dedicate to Vinted as I have bags of clothes still to photograph & upload, some clothes to try on which may end up on there too & some TJC rings to photograph for selling. They were quite expensive but I rarely wore them & now they’re too big. I have a huge car bill to pay so the extra pennies will be great. Have a productive day all!

Ramping up decluttering speed as the days whizz by and I'm getting more and more stressed about moving day. DH and DC are worried I'll accidentally throw out something important, and DH has already lost his headphones.

It's been so hot, I haven't done that much 😞 I'm very much in the maintenance phase of decluttering, so there's never going to be loads.

Sold some jeans on Vinted
Sorted a cupboard out and recycled some packaging and LED tea lights that don't work

Have a few things to list on Vinted next week (when it will be cooler, thank goodness!)

work got in the way. The garage I thought was sorted is trashed as I’ve literally opened the door and lobbed stuff in as it’s got in the way indoors. Bags of random stuff.(like empty shoe boxes I may want, who am I kidding) Beginning to think the addition of a door from utility room into the garage to get to the freezer was a bad addition. The house didn’t originally have one.

my five things a day went out the window with the incoming work project and August has just disappeared.

cant see me getting back to sorting it out for another week. Going to try hard to do five things a day again.

My Vinted has ground to a halt.

5 bags for life for CH’s I went to 3 to share it out !
They checked everything in my bags to see if they wanted! Took everything. I did throw a least a bag of stuff in the bin!
I have bought new underwear and socks!
Still working through the food cupboards and freezer!
Need to make space for Christmas food.

I'm starting to find the motivation I lost in the stupidly hot weather!

Out - three small backpacks, two nearly new and one new with tags to DD who works in a school.

Have spent time in home office sorting through old papers and shredding all irrelevant stuff. The piles and files are slowly reducing.

I've sold two more things on Vinted. As we move into autumn, I know I have loads of autumn/winter work clothes to go to charity or on Vinted. As it's cooler now I'm getting my decluttering mojo back - I have plans for sorting several cupboards. And I need to get back to the paperwork sorting and shredding - I was doing really well with that and have stalled somewhat.

But not today, as I'm off to an art gallery 🙂

Jumping on this thread as I need the accountability! Tackled the kitchen this weekend and finally got rid of the stuff that has been sitting in the back of cupboards for years. Donated a slow cooker I never used, two sets of plates, and a load of random gadgets. Freed up so much space. The rule I have been using is if it has not come out of the cupboard in 6 months, it goes. My total so far: 47 items out. Hoping to hit 100 by end of September.

Sorted through 2 kitchen cupboards and the fridge. Also have another stack of things to list on vinted

Out - Found someone who wanted the suit and jackets.

Carrier bag of books out to oxfam.

Sorted through a mess of vehicle -related paperwork, filed and shredded. Similarly for dentist bills from years ago, most of which teeth no longer exist.

Just finished a massive blitz of upstairs. A friend was due to visit but cancelled and I was just in the mood to steam on in. Almost back to my late 2024 tidy state. The garage is still horrendous but feel sooo much better for getting the bedrooms tidy.

I have decluttered so much more stuff. But we still have so much to move. Best (?) Thing was when I reached the far end of the loft. Therefore 2 huge cardboard boxes behinda dresser I was going to get down. Turns out it was ALL of DHs PhD paperwork and few old electronics. He'd kept it all. And it all went! Our loft is pretty much empty!

Two books set aside for oxfam shop.

Caught up with two specific financial tasks that I had been putting off for weeks. It was so much easier than fretting about things.

Out - a vintage taxidermy bird, sold for £80.

Three more duplicate books added to the charity shop pile.

Another six cushions into the garage, ready to be car booted in September.

Two pairs of holey knickers binned.
