Whatever your speed or method, whether it’s a few shelves, a couple of boxes or entire attics, rooms, or garages, come here and share both your successes and your struggles. There’s support and commiserations, and lots of good ideas.

Two more sales on Vinted. DD is away today - so so tempting to go in her room & chuck loads out!

Vinorosso74 · 15/03/2026 13:32

Most of the decluttering has been stuff from FILs. Sent a load of stuff to charity shops this week.
So, thanks to DP's sibling leaving him to deal with finishing clearing the house, I've not done anywhere near what I'd hoped but am on top of daily stuff.

mutleyschuckles · 15/03/2026 14:47

A few dresses on vinted today, I’d bought thinking I can be girlie but I really am not! 1 sold in minutes. Only on for a pound each so hoping I can shift the others. They will stay in the charity bag for a couple of weeks before being donated.
several new dog toys in this weekend as we were away & he always gets new things on a holiday 😂

Iceisnice · 15/03/2026 21:15

I have been following along but haven't been actually decluttering myself 😳.
I have had a few health issues that have cropped up and one of them (underactive thyroid) explains why I have been feeling so tired and poorly for quite a while. I have occupied myself with volunteering and taking care of dh who had been off work for 7 weeks (!) And hopefully he should be back to work next week. I plan to start again with regard to numbers and will count my 'ins' as well, because the posts that have discussed the surprising quantity have been illuminating and I think are likely to be the reason I cannot get ahead!

Used up three candles! Two were tea lights but still. 😂.
Sold a couple of books on Vinted today but I have bought two books, so made £3 and spent £33! But the packaging is coming in handy. 🫣

Today I spent about an hour working on the room of doom.

Made several piles including 2 large bags for the charity shop. Tomorrow I'll put them in the car to get them out of the house - need to make sure that I take them in the next few days.

Room is starting to look a bit more spacious.

EllieQ · 17/03/2026 22:37

More ins from the weekend: key ring and toy car from a design workshop that DD went to, plus a daffodil in a pot for me for Mother’s Day.

Yesterday I went through a small box of random stuff that was in our bedroom. Realised it was from a last-minute tidy up of the dining room before my sister visited in summer 2024. The main contents were an old set of four place mats and four coasters, which have gone in the bin due to being too tattered to donate to charity (I got new ones around the time of the visit). The box also contained some bank statements (filed/ recycled), some ribbon (added to my ribbon stash), and some spare party bag fillers (put in larger box of random stuff in our bedroom). The box itself went into the recycling.

Feels ridiculous that I held onto those placemats for nearly two years, but they’re in the bin now!

BerfyTigot · 18/03/2026 11:24

@EllieQ I can relate to bags of random stuff. I even created another at the weekend when I wanted to get my car cleaned 😩

Today i am doing more decluttering but also sorting some storage space. It feels like a bottomless project but I'm keeping my spirits up by frequent coffees in the garden and sitting on the sofa watching Space Invaders on YouTube 😆

mutleyschuckles · 18/03/2026 15:57

Argh I was doing so well. Posted off 2 vinted sales then bought a pair of converse & pair of jeans on there with birthday money. I don’t need any more clothes- maybe the shoes. Will have to find some other bits to get rid of instead

IndianSummer78 · 18/03/2026 21:05

Two pairs of uncomfortable trainers donated. Total is 4447

CheesePlantFeet · 19/03/2026 08:20

Assembled a coffee table that I found in my loft pile of doom and took it to a charity shop. Also a pair of trousers added to the clothes bag for charity.
Sold a dress on vinted. Everything else has been up for ages and relisted many times so might just charity shop it next time I go. Also sold a ring and necklace.

Total: 583

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 19/03/2026 11:59

Away from home again for a couple of weeks but have sold a few bits on Vinted. Will have a mega blast when I return at Easter!

IndianSummer78 · 20/03/2026 02:39

Council information read and recycled.
Too small shoes donated.
T-shirt not wanted donated.
Total is 4450

glowfrog · 20/03/2026 10:52

new to the thread and wish I’d seen it in December when I started my decluttering quest! Been slower going than I’d like but so far I have managed to throw away / give etc at least half of whatever I clear out, Sort Your Life Out style. But I think it might get harder when I get started on our bedroom, which has become the repository of all sorts of annoying things. Wish I could find a decent spot for DH’s workbench and stool - definitely not throwing that out but they take up a lot of space and our house is very small. I’m also hoping I can get rid of some storage furniture to give us more room and hopefully stop us from accumulating things again.

EllieQ · 20/03/2026 17:28

More ins from this week: three new pairs of leggings for DD (though I will get rid of three outgrown pairs), and a heavy-duty coat hanger for DH’s fencing protective jacket. I’ve also ordered a new dress for me (for work) and a new hoodie for DD (her current favourite hoodie in the next size up - she’s very picky about clothes) from Vinted.

I posted DD’s old dance uniform on FB freecycle, and someone is interested, so hopefully that will get collected this weekend.

DH is unfortunately ill at the moment, so my plans for sorting through old clothes this weekend are unlikely to go ahead as I won’t be able use the bedroom for sorting and organising. Maybe I’ll tackle the bathroom cabinet instead.

Hasthisreallyhappened · 20/03/2026 18:44

I dismantled the old pump fountain for the pond and installed a new one so the fish now have nice water to swim under.

Did quite a big tidy up of the garden and garden furniture and generally spruced it up. Two Robbins came and flew all around me for about 30 minutes. I believe in Robbins. I kind of felt it was DH telling me I was doing a good job.

IndianSummer78 · 21/03/2026 03:36

One pair of outgrown trainers donated and two catalogues recycled. Total is 4453
