Whatever your speed or method, whether it’s a few shelves, a couple of boxes or entire attics, rooms, or garages, come here and share both your successes and your struggles. There’s support and commiserations, and lots of good ideas.

I sold an unused moisturiser on.Vinted and posted it off today.

2 Tshirts outgrown in the charity bag

Old coat with broken zip in textile recycling bag.

Just got to get all these bags out the house!

FoolShapeHeart · 07/01/2026 01:06

A few ins today - 2 preloved books that I ordered at the end of last year (ie less than a week ago) plus a final Christmas gift for each of us: chocolate for me, that I have already decluttered #progress and a small toy for MiniFool. I haven't done any decluttering at all.

Emptied my car bin yesterday - it’s from Temu & really small! Looked bigger in the photo. I need to empty the car doors too. Sold a Seasalt dress on Vinted for a tenner last night. I’m really fired up now & going to go through my wardrobe & drawers again for more items to sell. One more cabinet drawer to tidy.

TidyClutterIsStillClutter · 07/01/2026 07:16

Donate/sell - three skateboards, two pairs in-line roller skates.

Tidied and sorted - three shelves of school and hobby stuff. Now reduced to two shelves. Found a few items that had been lost or forgotten. I’ll have a quick look through the paper and drawings today, and declutter what’s no longer needed.

I have asked DD quite a few times what to do with her 2 skateboards & her roller skates but can’t get a straight answer (it’s the same with all her stuff & sometimes I just have to get rid). She never uses them. The skates were quite expensive.

@MarmaladeSandwich7I’ve got the new-to-Vinted itch too! Suddenly looking at everything through the lens of “how much could I get for that?!”

Zireael · 07/01/2026 08:36

I've managed to get rid of a few things without really trying - two dead houseplants, last years calendar and OOD coupons off the fridge.

I really should be working on a university assignment, so trying to be strict with myself on that, but I'd rather get stuck into the kitchen cupboards for a sort out!

IncessantNameChanger · 07/01/2026 08:56

I have listed some of the kids shoes and wellies on Vinted but they have very low vibes so not sure they will sell. They are bulky too so I think I will donate them by the end of the week. Still got a massive bag of clothes that dd said she wants rid of yo sort through as well. I'm not buying her any clothes this year unless she asks for it or new uniform. Got to get rid off another 200 items this month to hit my 2025 target and stay on track for 2026.

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 07/01/2026 10:24

Another sale! A long coat which fits me but I don’t wear because the hood is absolutely massive!! Someone definitely got a bargain as it went for £12

Clutterbug2026 · 07/01/2026 10:40

6 full bags gone today, mostly kids clothes, bedding and my clothes. I need to buy new clothes now.

My wardrobe is so tidy but I have a few random things from my wardrobe hanging around my bedroom which need tidying up.

EllieQ · 07/01/2026 11:35

I’m really impressed by how much everyone is doing! Very slow progress here and I would really like to declutter this cold that I’ve had for a week now. I’m back at work, but working from home and not being that productive, if I’m honest 😩

Had a couple of outs since the past few days - sorted through a pile of receipts on my bedside table and threw most of them away, and today I put a pair of tights in the fabric recycling bag as they had a hole in the toe.

Decorations are down and packed away, but still need to find homes for most of the presents (mainly books).

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 07/01/2026 11:38

Cleared out the bottom drawer of the cabinet & just about to post a pair of Nicole Farhi trousers on Vinted, although not sure how good a price I’ll get. These particular ones retail at around £80.

SydneyCarton · 07/01/2026 12:20

We have a bulky waste collection booked for tomorrow to take away our crappy horrible old sofa, hurrah! It may mean some time spent sitting on camp chairs as DP wants to take the opportunity to remove our crappy horrible old carpet as well, which has lovely original parquet flooring underneath. They're also taking a load of cardboard packaging and a random "bag of bits and pieces" which we added to get to the minimum charge, which still has some space to chuck a few things in.

Posted a Vinted parcel this morning just making the deadline - Vinted seems to have automatically added a couple of new couriers to my profile settings and I wasn't aware that I was now offering this particular oneHmm. Think I will probably disable it as it's not the most convenient.

stealthninjamum · 07/01/2026 15:16

Happy new year everyone! I can’t believe how quickly this thread is moving. You’re all doing really well.

Im theoretically maintaining - apart from the Lego - but I use an app to tidy two areas of the house each day which often leads to finding clutter. I decided to get rid of 7 board games, 7 books and 2 unused silicon moulds for chocolate making. I’ve also got a nearly empty pot of paint that might have to go to the tip if they accept it.

i usually count and get bored by mid January but here goes.

number of outs 17 (well almost - they’re in a pile waiting to go)

begone25 · 07/01/2026 16:15

Cleared two kitchen cupboards just now and binned loads, probably 150 items! Lots of out of date items, condiments etc. Plus sold something on eBay for £40 that’s been hanging around for ages. Definitely feeling motivated to do more 🙌

Total = 163

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 07/01/2026 16:21

Another wardrobe sort out - I have an XXL Temu dress to advertise & a few bits to try on, including a pale blue Joules dress still with tags on which will hopefully now fit me.

CheesePlantFeet · 07/01/2026 16:34

Pulled out a chest of drawers and found a stack of photo stuff underneath and a pair of missing swimming trunks 😂

Charity shop: 6x picture frames, shirt

Bin / recycling: dead plant, 4x "useful" boxes, projector parts, photo mount

Total: 123

mutleyschuckles · 07/01/2026 16:45

I’ve posted off a fluffy child’s blanket on vinted this morning. Have taken everything else off it as it’s been up for a month with just favourites & they are £1/2 coats etc so I can’t price them any lower they are now in a bag in the car to be dropped off at the charity warehouse tomorrow.
have also added some of those massive novelty mugs to the car/charity bag.
I did order the dog a new fleecy jumper though yesterday but at the moment he’s wearing one out with the dog Walker & getting it filthy (which I am quite fine with means he’s had fun) & then because he’s not bright enough to snuggle under blankets he’s not got a clean dry one for the nights. & he looks cute in his jimjams 😂
big win for me was going to west quay with the child after an appointment today & looking round all the shops we don’t have on the island & not buying anything 🙌

TidyClutterIsStillClutter · 07/01/2026 21:49

Reduced three drawers of kids’ artwork and random jotters to two. Two remaining drawers earmarked for Friday and weekend.

Four school v-necks set aside for anyone who can repair tiny splits in seams.

Did a quick tidy in garage. Unfortunately nothing decluttered apart from old takeaway coffee cups.

Great productivity from everyone. I took two vintage parcels to one of the self service lockers today and I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to use.

IncessantNameChanger · 07/01/2026 22:46

Mutley are you on the IOW? We looked at St Catherine's for my sons school. Beautiful place. OK I'm very close to hitting my 2025 in 2025 target late but it's within ten days

Headphones
Broken dress up crown and hanger
21 hangers
Rat bait box - on its side in garden - why?
Two pairs of my jeans, dd hat to charity.
In new long gray Cardigan

Total out 121
Total in = 11

IncessantNameChanger · 07/01/2026 22:50

9 things to go then I have hit 2025 out in 2025 but then this year resets to zero.

Tomorrow I'm going to smash it. Then I'm going to smash 2026 out in 2026

RubySparrow · 07/01/2026 22:57

Can I join? Everyone is doing so well.
I have been selling bits and pieces on Vinted, I am upset with myself about how much money I have wasted.
I don’t sell my stuff for much, But seeing how much it is worth second hand is stopping me buying more.
I am window/basket shopping 🤣. Putting in my basket then going back a week later thinking just why!

IndianSummer78 · 08/01/2026 00:44

Of course you can ruby

Gone - a letter that's been hanging around since November apparently. Total is 4236

mutleyschuckles · 08/01/2026 08:26

yep iow all my life 😂 much prefer it in winter when all the tourists have gone but I’m not a people person. Most other islanders are much friendlier than me 😬
it is very pretty, & great for younger kids to grow up. I do rely on online shopping a lot though & we’ve only had uber eats for a few years so a bit behind everywhere else!
