Cleared out the space under the stairs:

  • three jam jars plus lids = 6
  • five plastic takeaway containers plus lids = 10
  • 11 water glasses
  • 16 assorted lone earrings, bits of broken jewellery etc
that's 43 items to add to my previous total of 36, 79 is my new total.
PeonyPatch · 16/08/2025 20:24

Sold two items on Vinted today - pair of sunglasses, and a bikini!

IncessantNameChanger · 17/08/2025 11:42

Right! I'm going to spotlight my Vinted stuff so I can get rid of it one way or another before school starts. Has anyone else used it?

I can't belive my new with tags Joules dress hasn't gone. It's way too long for me. But I do sew, so I might take it up.

I might keep back ten of the best brands as that will fit in top of ds cupboard. I have only made £10 selling three things out of 21 listed.

itsonlyjoan · 17/08/2025 11:51

Thereislightattheendofthetunnel · 17/08/2025 14:00

Checking in. I have not done much recently but I just installed a clothesline in my patio.

IndianSummer78 · 17/08/2025 19:20

Welcome newbies 😊

Today I realised my pyjamas drawer is stuffed full and there's still some in the laundry bin, so I've started the weeding process with a vest and shorts that aren't part of a set just mismatched odds and ends. Total is 3822

UncertainPerson · 17/08/2025 19:37

Wow @itsonlyjoan you've done so well 🎉. It must feel great looking at all that!

I’ve brought 3 bags to the rag bin and posted 4 Vinted parcels.

Plus cleaned and tidied under the sink and my sewing area ☺️

Workisntworking · 17/08/2025 21:37

Im going to join - Hello!

My study is a tip and it's stopping me working.

I spent the afternoon clearing paper work that barely made a dent but

I've got the day off tomorrow and am planning a Stacey Solomon style exercise where I put everything in the back garden and I choose what goes back in the house.

DH thinks this will be too much but something has to give.

Not sure how to do it.

I think I'm just going to have Keep and Chuck piles. If I start various piles for Donate, Sell etc I think I'll be dithering on those and not get anywhere.

I’ve used it yes!

take good photos, multiple photos. Use hashtags and buzzwords in your listing.

Consider “bumping” high value items or items you think will sell! X

You will be able to make a dent in it.. even if it doesn't seem like it at first.

If you have any donations, it is best to get them out of the house sooner rather than later.

Im sure DH will rescue any books for selling and he does like a trip to the tip and to take items to the charity shop - we are very mismatched people!

Did some quick and easy holiday decluttering by taking the kids old underwear and T-shirts to wear once more, then binned them. Most of it will need to be replaced with bigger sizes but it was a bit less stuff to pack up. Sold two pairs of BNWT Mountain Warehouse shorts on Vinted which have been stuck in a carrier bag for a year since I forgot to take them back in time, and will post on Wednesday as the buyer is away.

Bag of old clothes to go to textile recycling and a couple of childrens' coats to look at and see if they might go on Vinted, but not sure if the time is right yet - are people looking now for winter stuff? I've got some Christmas jumpers which I will either sell or donate to school but too early as yet.

Pigtailsandall · 18/08/2025 16:40

Days 227-229 declutters were 3 t-shirts. But they were from my memory stash so didn't actually make a dent in my wardrobe (which is starting to feel full. It's quite a small wardrobe but it feels very packed)

I am sure some people will want winter stuff now if they are travelling to a colder country.

Well done on the quick and easy holiday decluttering!

Ancient remains of face cream rinsed out and tub into plastic bins for tomorrow’s recycling.

Odds and ends for the food waste bin, and fridge now clean and tidy.

Trying out tesco’s whoosh deliveries to keep better track and avoid corner shop top-ups.

I managed to declutter my study today. An extraordinary amount of paper, old gift bags and about 20,000 - Im blaming DH for those and he actually rescued some from the bin.

Gassylady · 18/08/2025 21:42

20000 what? And surely you didn’t count them?!

Workisntworking · 18/08/2025 21:46

Sorry - 20,000 staples - so just a few boxes.
Apologies if you thought it was something more substantial!!

stealthninjamum · 18/08/2025 21:47

I’m still doing 5 minutes a day in my bedroom and it’s such a nice way of re-kick starting my decluttering as I keep moving things to other rooms where I find more clutter.

dd2 let me donate 2 of her books that were on my dressing table. There were another 6 that were in one of my wardrobes that are now in the pile.

i have also found about 8 pairs of trousers in dd1s room that no longer fit her. And my cleaner had put two massive boxes in the room of doom (I bought a new hoover and office chair recently). They’re now broken up in a pile on the landing for the next bin day.

My bedroom surfaces are nearly clear now but I’m also in the middle of emptying all the drawers and wardrobes.

Thanks for this idea @stealthninjamum- I need to find a way to get started. 5 mins is totally achievable.

stealthninjamum · 19/08/2025 07:48

Thanks @Realfastfoodie I’ve been at a point for about 18 months where I would say I’d largely finished decluttering, yet my bedroom still looks a tip (and the room of doom and playroom do too). I have a daily routine where I’ll tidy the public bits of the house in less than 15 minutes before I go to bed (sometimes it only takes 5 minutes) and I’m sure my New Year’s resolution last year or this year was to be able to tidy the whole house in 30 minutes. So when I’ve done my bedroom I’ll add it to the 15 minutes routine.

I’ve just ordered 3 paintings and frames for a bathroom that I have just had painted and I am decluttering a chair I keep in there. It’ll probably go to trash nothing. It’s an actual finished room that’s now minimalist.

Realfastfoodie · 19/08/2025 08:39

Inspired by @stealthninjamumthe 5 min declutter found me 3 toys/ puzzles that I’ve sent to nursery!

UncertainPerson · 19/08/2025 09:34

Staples 😂 love it! One more parcel posted for Vinted, yay.

CherryRipe1 · 19/08/2025 11:08

Three items sold on eBay & posted. Large quantity of cardboard in excess to recycling taken on foot to mini recycling centre.

IndianSummer78 · 19/08/2025 18:34

That makes you a good team though. You can declutter, he can deal with the reject pile - selling, donating or tipping as suits him. That side of things can take up a lot of time, having someone willing to sort that out is a worthwhile contribution to the cause. Good luck with your enormously daunting sounding project 🍀

Today I've binned one broken DVD that won't play and finished another shampoo. Total is 3824
