Today i have sorted out a couple of drawers of older bras. Eight suitable for smalls for all so in a box ready to post. Two that fit but got misfiled at some point! Eleven fit only for recycling but bravissimo not accepting at the moment so local textile recycling it is.

stealthninjamum · 14/08/2025 11:45

Another 5 minutes in my bedroom. I’m clearing out drawers to fit the excess surface crap in.

outs include
4 pairs of shorts
3 pairs of trousers
one scarf
one pair of sandals
a box my air buds came in

i can see 9 books on surfaces - 5 cookery books that dd2 brought in to read about a year ago - they can go back to the kitchen, 2 were given to dd2 and the other 2 are mine. Dd2 won’t read so I’ll donate the 2 that were gifts if she doesn’t want them. That will clear loads of surfaces.

Oh dear, not a great day yesterday. Took ds for his theory test and the nearest was a big town miles away that has a lovely high street. So while waiting me and dd went into Primark and had too much fun. I bought three basic tshirts I wanted to buy so I can wear some skirts and trousers in summer. Then dd bought 4 t shirts she didn't need. We bought some tiny items like makeup I won't count. Then ds passed his test. He agreed on mooching a bit more as we had driven a hour. I then bought him three pairs of joggers and two tshirts he also needed.

Two items out on Vinted. Two items in on Vinted!

I have told dd no more clothes until next year. We both know she doesn't need more. Feel the guilt now but it's rare to be in the high street for us.

I need to spotlight my Vinted really in preparation of getting rid of all that stuff.

I bought this in card factory so hoping to try to use it.

Stuff used up and not replaced
Finally got around to sorting out a box of work stuff that can now be disposed of x 70 (!) items given to a friend for a project, x 19 into the bin. Bag of items to be passed onto one of the children this weekend x 8. Feels good to finally get this stuff out of the house. = 97

Recycled/binned
Outdated medication to pharmacy x 3, packaging x 1, packs of stickers x 2 = 6

Charity shop
New bag started

Vinted
0 but have sorted some stuff to list when I get back.

UncertainPerson · 14/08/2025 17:44

Bag of expired medicines to the pharmacy. The pharmacy asked me if it was all legal 😂.

A bag of toys to the charity shop.

Tomorrow I’ve a day off and am going to take pics and list all the Vinted stuff (finally!)

UncertainPerson · 14/08/2025 17:45

Well done to your DS @IncessantNameChanger!

stealthninjamum · 15/08/2025 09:36

Yesterday I took three bags of stuff to the charity shop including many of the clothes I have found in my bedroom.

Today I spent my 5 minutes of my bedroom tidy going through gym clothes drawer so I could tidy away resistance bands, marbles and golf balls that I use to strengthen my flat feet. They were on my bedside table. Outs include one gym top and a bra.

from my wardrobe I am getting rid of some trousers and two skirts. They’re all about 4 sizes too small for me and by the time I diet into them would be unfashionable. I don’t really follow fashion but I think skirt shape is one of those things that easily looks dated.

My room is looking better. Surfaces are clearer (I should’ve taken photos) but it’s nice to know the insides of cupboards and drawers are emptying and becoming more organised too.

Later I have to spend time in the garden pruning more ivy that’s gone crazy.

Hello 😀 A little bit about myself. As my name suggests, I thought the answer was more shelving, most of it to ceiling height!

I try to discard something every day. I’m not always successful, but the decluttering posts keep me focussed.

It’s great to share how we dispose of stuff, as that can be a stumbling block for some people.

So I hope we will all continue the good work, and more will join in.

Please may I join?
When I left my 4bed/garage/loft marital home I decanted 30 years of stuff into a two bed cottage. Which I am now extensively remodelling (walls coming down/extension/moving bathrooms and kitchen) so have to get rid as much as possible as woo be 5 months and really want to store only dog that is genuinely useful on the B short term or genuinely nostalgic.

LR47 · 15/08/2025 16:07

Gave away 2 too-small school sweatshirts
3 t shirts and some shorts to the charity shop
1 item sold on Vinted
3 big boxes broken up and put in recycling

Total outs: 826

PeonyPatch · 15/08/2025 16:09

I use Anglo doorstep collections to donate unwanted clothes, bric a brac, books etc. Really easy to book online on the website, and you leave boxes outside and they’ll collect on the date you book. I’ve used it twice now, and have another booked for next week. You can choose a charity to donate to as well.

UncertainPerson · 15/08/2025 17:24

Just realised Dunelm take home textiles for recycling which is great because I’m always unsure what to with bedding and towels etc.

Pigtailsandall · 15/08/2025 18:41

Day 226 declutter is a slightly emotional one - a punjab dress my uni friends parents gave me. It's very pretty but I haven't worn it in 15 years and it no longer fits me. Hopefully someone else can wear it

IndianSummer78 · 15/08/2025 20:02

One pair damaged shoes
One dress with a fastening that gets caught up

Total is 3820

IndianSummer78 · 15/08/2025 20:16

Of course you can join MrsG. Still trying to work out how you store a dog though, you mean kennels? That might get expensive for 5 months.

Love that planner Incessant. I bought some different ones this year to try to get organised and it has helped a little.

TidyClutterIsStillClutter · 15/08/2025 20:27

Out - two outgrown carseats and two outgrown school skirts.

Busy in garden whenever it’s not too hot or wet. A lot of leaves and twigs coming down almost daily.

Gassylady · 15/08/2025 20:50

Lots of cardbord taken to recycling as well as two old and cracked food waste bins. Bag of rags taken to charity shop as they sell them on to a recyling company

CherryRipe1 · 15/08/2025 21:43

Naff old toilet roll/kitchen roll holder & rusty planter out. Used up almost empty kitchen & bathroom sprays and some bleach, bottles recycled. Used up an ancient but expensive skin cream.

Hasthisreallyhappened · 16/08/2025 08:06

Back in the garage again today is the intention, I still cannot believe I can muck it up again and again. Lots of random things gone this week curtesy of fb free before the tip type group.

then im going to paint the shed if it remains cloudy, yesterday was far to hot and I had to stop.

UncertainPerson · 16/08/2025 11:25

Accountability post: I will have items posted on Vinted by the end of today!

Realfastfoodie · 16/08/2025 13:05

Thanks for the new thread @TidyClutterIsStillClutter!

I’m still only making baby steps, but did a bit of a sort out of bathroom stuff, and got rid of a few broken bits and pieces. One pair of socks with holes.

23 items so far in August but I’m going to do a big push as our decorators are leaving soon, so boxes can be unpacked (ideally directly into a donation bag!)

kryptonfactor · 16/08/2025 14:40

Hi everyone,

Hope it is ok to join! We are moving in the next few months (cross-country move - South Wales to North Scotland, eeek) and I am determined to get rid of as much as I can before we go. We've moved twice in the last three years and I've vowed that I will not be taking any boxes of stuff with us that have been unopened the whole time we have been here - this has happened in the past!

I've done well this year, I feel much lighter and better for it. I'm also really looking forward to the move, which has been really motivating. Now feels like the big push before we go. I've uploaded some more things to vinted this morning (I love vinted) and have just spotlighted my wardrobe, so fingers crossed. I also love taking old books over to the donation point at our local supermarket, so I'll be doing more of that.

I'm really loving it - this way I know I will be moving with possessions that I really love, rather than a load of stuff that just weighs me down.

stealthninjamum · 16/08/2025 16:35

5 minutes tidying of bedroom. I found a bag of crap. It has an inch high pile of papers that need to be shredded and I have tidied away other bits.

I also spent 15 minutes on the rest of the house. I found a bag of old video games I might put on trash nothing and some craft activities I can give a friend. I also shredded papers including letters from three companies about house insurance which are being shredded. Renewal time is next week so I’ll be cancelling my existing one and finding a cheaper company tonight.

UncertainPerson · 16/08/2025 17:04

Stuff listed on eBay, Vinted and local free Facebook, yay!

LivingDeadGirlUK · 16/08/2025 18:27

After quite a slow few weeks we got a load of cardboard and a bin bag and a half of textiles recycling to the tip. I feel quite accomplished as the cardboard is packaging from a large bit of furniture we bought and assembled earlier in the week. Feel so good to not have it sitting about for ages!
I've checked out a pair of boots which have broken and listed a pair of DM's on Vinted that I don't wear anymore.
Really trying to get to grips with my flat surfaces but pleased to report my desk, which I cleared off around a month or 6 weeks ago, is still clutter free!
