Please help! I've ruined my daughters whitefox hoody

So it was my daughters 11th birthday Friday she asked if she could have a whitefox hoody as one of her presents. I bought it in January and took weeks to pay it off on klarna. She wore it twice over weekend and had a few marks on it so instead of washing the whole hoody to try and keep it in good condition for longer I tried to spot stain the marks and I didn't rinse out the stain remover properly and then stupidly put it out on the line to dry in the sun and when I went to get it in to my horror it had big bright yellow stains dotted all over it! 🙈 she's crying, I'm crying because I can't afford a new one. I'm so gutted .
I've washed it 3 times since, tried vinegar and more laundry detergent on it and still no different.

Any help and advice to get these out would be gratefully received. Thanks guys .

If you can't get it clean try vinted. I've just sold at pink one on there for £15 x

ThistleTits · 15/04/2025 19:57

@Weezee0409 could you dye it?

LighterSpring25 · 15/04/2025 20:22

Accidents happen, it wasn’t deliberate. Nobody died. Turn it into a life lesson for your daughter.

Yes, we know that but her DD is upset over something she loved. OP sounds like a lovely Mum unlike some posters with harsh comments.

GoodEnoughParents · 15/04/2025 20:41

Whenever something of mine gets ruined I try find a dye colour that will work well. Dylon dye pods are amazing.
Ive dyed many sweatshirts and aslong as you are mindful that the thread doesn’t often dye the same colour (different cotton?) it’s fine. Choose a colour that will suit like a darker grey or maybe a soft pink for the red font

Dobbycraft · 15/04/2025 21:21

😥 I'd be happy to contribute to a new one for your daughter if there is a way to do it that you're comfortable with

Newtothis2023 · 15/04/2025 22:51

I've done this to white clothes belonging to my daughter too and they've turned yellow in places. When this happened before, I wet the top in luke warm water and rubbed green washing up liquid on the stains, be generous, and then let the clothes soak in the warm water for a while. I washed afterwards straight from wet and then left the items flat on a table in my garden for a few days (come rain or sun) and washed again. I can't remember if I had to repeat the process but this works for me.... has worked with bubble stains that no amount of stain remover could get rid of. The sun is the best remedy I find. Good luck

Read her posts. Someone has already bought her/sent her money for a new one.

Those aren't coming out it's ruined , I'm sorry .
The fabric has been discoloured there's no making them go away I've done this myself with baby clothes and absolutely nothing fixes it

pollymere · 16/04/2025 13:56

You can also try making a paste with vanish powder and leaving it on the stains as long as you dare (couple of hours)! Rinse and repeat. Then put on the washing line in bright sunlight. I'd be tempted to use Vanish white rather than pink but try pink first.

Vanish doesn’t get out bleach marks. The thing has been bleached. It isn’t stained. Vanish won’t put the grey colour back in.

Mamofboys5972 · 16/04/2025 14:37

If it's already been washed and dried multiple times then the stain will have set. Only option for me would be to dye it, but be mindful the stained parts might even dye a slightly different shade ! You could get creative and try to make a marble tie dye effect pattern, camouflage the stains even.

LighterSpring25 · 16/04/2025 14:39

@Blackdow I get that it's bleached 😂

Yes I've come to the realisation that I've ruined it after trying various things as people have suggested. My daughter has been great about it though bless her . Thanks for your comment

As it's grey marl what it can do is put bluing agents into the yellow which will make them whiter where it should be white. I have saved many a marl hoodie! 😂

I did read her posts. Didn't see her say that!

blandierst · 16/04/2025 19:45

@Weezee0409

just out of interest, how many private messages did you get offering to buy you a new one or send you money?

There's obviously been one open one here.

I'm interested because I am surprised people would be offering to do that for a total stranger and want to get a sense of how widespread it is and if I'm totally out of synch with the norm in my genuine surprise.

It's possible I read too much into the below, but that was my assumption (and, I see it is the assumption of another poster):

There are some amazing people in this world some whom have private messaged me and been very generous and kind 😇 Thank you 😊

Chipsandricetonight · 16/04/2025 21:15

@Weezee0409 they have 40% off everything with TAKE40 at the moment if you are looking to replace it/can afford to

Haven’t you see the fake begging posts? It’s rife during holiday times. People are often taken in.

I am not suggesting for one moment that this OP is begging btw, far from it and I hope it’s fixed now for her DD.

I, personally, would help a stranger in such a way if needed and I could

Lilylouis · 16/04/2025 22:20

Could you tie die it?
I'm thinking doing this, there would be a way to not die the logo (google how) then it can still be worn as tie die is so ‘in’.

And if you put on here a go fund me page I would genuinely donate.

You can pick up when people are milking something or being greedy and this is not the case here.

Newtothis2023 · 16/04/2025 22:44

I've bleached clothes with leaving vanish on too long (in my daughter's white tops), which resulted in big yellow patches all over, alot more than the actual small stain in the first instance. Perseverance with green washing up liquid being rubbed into the tops with Luke warm water and leaving in the sun and rain for a week, followed by washing again did work for me. This method has done wanders for me on a few occasions

Private1980 · 17/04/2025 21:22

The only thing that works for me is lemon fairy washing liquid got to be lemon though put it on neat on area and let it sit for at least 24 hours then put it on a 40 wash I think it's definitely fixable I hope this helps

MegsRolls · 30/07/2025 07:53

I have had the same issue with my daughters White Fox. I purchased a pink white fox hoodie for her birthday - I have just washed it in cold water once. It was not even worn before I washed it so it had no stains. It came out of the wash with light brown tea like stains all over it! I have asked for a refund as i think it a defect in the fabric.
