Please help! I've ruined my daughters whitefox hoody

So it was my daughters 11th birthday Friday she asked if she could have a whitefox hoody as one of her presents. I bought it in January and took weeks to pay it off on klarna. She wore it twice over weekend and had a few marks on it so instead of washing the whole hoody to try and keep it in good condition for longer I tried to spot stain the marks and I didn't rinse out the stain remover properly and then stupidly put it out on the line to dry in the sun and when I went to get it in to my horror it had big bright yellow stains dotted all over it! 🙈 she's crying, I'm crying because I can't afford a new one. I'm so gutted .
I've washed it 3 times since, tried vinegar and more laundry detergent on it and still no different.

Any help and advice to get these out would be gratefully received. Thanks guys .

With the number of patches on that, you may as well have just washed the thing.

All the advice you’re getting is for stained. That isn’t stained anymore; it’s been bleached. You’ll just have to replace it or tell your daughter that you can’t.

The spot marks were small but the stain remover spread . But yes I wish I had just washed it now . Thanks

Oh no! I’m so sorry. Try the vanish soak. If not, buy some Dylon fabric dye (supermarkets tend to do them or amazon) in as close colour match as you can get and try this. The dylon ones work in the washing machine.

Just make sure you run a few empty hot cycles through the machine afterwards to get rid of any lingering so you don’t inadvertently dye the rest of your clothes.

i don’t think it would stain the embroidery because of the vibrancy in comparison to the dye colour but let’s face it, as a last resort, what’s the worst that can happen?

Good luck

At age 11 I was 5ft 5, a size 12 and absolutely gorgeous.
20 years later, I’m 5ft 5, a size 12 and still absolutely gorgeous 🤣

Hope you manage to sort it OP xx

Aw I bet you are love your positive attitude. Take care and thank you 😊

Yes you are. To young girls these are currently a much desired item. To have a birthday present ruined so soon is very hard for the giver who saved up and the birthday girl who had waited ages. Have some empathy.

Liquid dish soap rubbed on has saved my dil's fav dress and my dc's jersey that had a large stain of salad oil.

ByQuaintAzureWasp · 14/04/2025 13:16

Dye it?

Why are people still posting this stuff?

It isn’t stained!! She bleached it. She treated it with two different stain removers (why mix stain removers in the first place; you don’t do that) and then put it out in the sun. It’s been bleached. You can’t wash off bleach marks.

It needs replacing. If she dyes it, the dye won’t take evenly and it will also dye the branding so her daughter isn’t going to want that. And it’ll look fake and bad. It needs to be replaced. Or her daughter needs to be told she can’t have one.

TiredMummma · 14/04/2025 13:26

There are lots on Vinted. They also do sales all the time, hoodies for £22 which you can again pay through Klarna? I bet you could sell it cheap on Vinted too 🤣

Youcancheck · 14/04/2025 13:29

Oh no I hope you can sort it out , this is the kind of thing that happens to me. I once shrunk my dd jumper (she was 15 and I washed it and it literally came out like a baby size 3-6 m !!!)

Also for those saying about size I’m 5’10 a size 8-10 and I buy loads of stuff to be oversized and I always get a 14 in jumpers etc for that effect so a tall 11 year old in a 14 is not unusual !

Maybe I've missed it but do we know exactly which products were used? A soap bar isn't going to contain bleach and to me the marks don't look like any colour has been removed anyway, I can see the grey colour still there underneath the yellow patches.

I bought a skate bag insert from Vinted, and it had what looked like rust stains. Soaked in Bicarbonate of Soda and white vinegar spray for a couple of days as I forgot about it. Did a regular wash, stains gone!

not the point of the thread but @TimeTravelledDoctor what is a skate bag insert? what is a skate bag?
a bag for skates I'm guessing but why would you by an insert separately? doesn't the bag do its job?

confused

Hardlyworking · 14/04/2025 13:41

Order a new one, then send this one back and say it came stained. Not morally great, but then these jumpers are incredibly overpriced so personally I wouldn't feel too bad about it.

The astonish spray she used is hydrogen peroxide. Hydrogen peroxide turns fabric yellow when left on too long. It’s bleached the fabric.

The opportunity literally says what products they use. Please read all the posts. Elbow grease bar doesn't contain bleach but the OP has used an oxy cleaner which does and then put it in the sun.

She ordered it in January and has only just noticed it is stained and sent it back? Really think they’ll believe her and replace it?

I did this to one of my dds hoodies she bought it at a theatre so expensive merch 😫

The majority of those will be fakes though, so it’s cheaper to buy a fake at source instead

All I can see is that she said "a astonish spray" and I know there are many different ones, I've even re read and I don't see where it says the specific one

@Irritateddaily you must be a better reader than me, I assume there's a typo in your post and you mean the OP, I don't see it

MariaDingbat · 14/04/2025 13:55

Just in case the stains don't come out, the same hoodie is selling in a S/M on eBay for £26.42. Good luck!

Sure buying a dupe is an option for a tenner. But white fox if you sign up to their mailing list they bombard you with deals - the hoodie I liked was eventually 50% off (£27) which is far less than the £55 it started at

Yes, you are being. And anyone with an iota of emotional intelligence understands that it's not just about the hoody FFS. It's about wanting your kid to have something special, being really pleased to have got her what she really wanted, and for that to have been spoiled so quickly; it's about watching how upset your child is and knowing how difficult it is going to be to fix, and it's about being tired that things are always this damn hard. You can always just scroll past rather than choose to stick the knife in.

mugglewump · 14/04/2025 14:09

I would just dye it a dark colour so the stains will be hidden by the dye.

Nobody of sound mind should buy white clothes past newborn stage...

Who bought white clothes? This post is about a grey hoody.
