I think you just started it Grin

Okay 😀 I’m going through my kids’ books. Most are from the eighties and nineties, and very much outdated. There’s

How are all the declutterers getting on?

There’s only a few of the books that I would encourage my DGC to read. Looking through them brings back happy memories, but they no longer belong on my shelves.

I cleared away all the stuff that was on top of the bookcases. It had been really annoying me. Took a few days to get used to the gaps :-))

I can probably get rid of one of the three! coffee tables in the living-room.

Will contact mnhq to go back to my decluttering name.

I've had a name change but I'm back and raring to declutter!
There was room in the bin this week (shock horror) so I took the opportunity to throw out a couple of very broken toys that DC has been holding onto. Now I'm going to have to find the old thread to work out my YTD but it's whatever that was plus 2...

Edit: I'm on 251 now! 🎉

I was going to start one but life got mad!
I was going to call it "Decluttering thread 10 - spring is here, time to get those surfaces clear " or something else naff 😂

CheesePlantFeet · 28/02/2025 14:18

Hello shiny new thread!

Vinted: 2x dress, sandals, 4x skirts, dungarees, 2x jumpers
Bin: pants, bathmat

Total: 242

Pigtailsandall · 28/02/2025 14:28

I am still continuing my decluttering one thing a day (but a fairly substantial thing!)

Day 57 was a whisk which was very rattly and loose and I have another one I prefer;
Day 58 - pair of kids' winter boots
Day 59 (today) - an electronic pest repellent device thing which I'm not sure did anything, plus we now have a cat :)

DeclutteringJane · 28/02/2025 17:31

I've just thrown out a very mouldy hairbrush from the bottom of a box. YTD 252.

stealthninjamum · 28/02/2025 17:33

@Pigtailsandall I love that thread title! I was thinking of starting one didn’t get round to it.

Today I took a load of old coat hangers to Tesco to recycle.

Part of me would love to see all those books as that was when I was a child/ teenager 😀 Thanks for setting up the new thread!

In the last week of February I put one worn out pair of school socks into the fabric recycling, and listed a box of megablocks plus a bag of megablocks vehicles/ figures on our local ‘free stuff’ facebook page, which are supposed to be collected tiday.

My total for February was 7 items decluttered, which is low but as I started a new job I wasn’t expecting to do a lot. It’s been quite tiring! My total for 2025 is 121.

Today DH took a few packets of pet medication to the vet for recycling, so I’ll count that as 1.

TidyClutterIsStillClutter · 02/03/2025 08:40

I cleared all the junk off one of the three coffee tables, and put the table in the utility room ready to
go into the garage if it ever stops raining.

Sat down to admire the new space and realised that a mound of clothes and dolls in the corner was sitting on another smaller table. Sigh….

Will deal with that this afternoon.

well I’ve had a big disaster to put it mildly; we were messed about by everyone involved in the house move but I ended up with no washer/dryer/microwave for 10 days coz I declutterred them too soon/microwave broke then a really awful moving out experience not getting the keys until after 6pm for our new rental but the worst thing is I declutterred both too much as above and not enough coz there was just too much little bits still! all I can do is learn from this and start being super organized with how I filter/label/store from now on 😳

CheesePlantFeet · 02/03/2025 16:49

Oh that sounds very stressful @Riverswims I hope things are improving.

I added a dress that hasn't sold on vinted to my bag of stuff, and dropped it all off at the charity shop today. And more importantly didn't buy anything while I was there!
Threw away another nail varnish.

Total 244

Sammysquiz · 02/03/2025 17:18

The things I find hardest to get rid of is those which mean admitting I made a bad decision. So the expensive lipstick which doesn’t suit me. The sewing stuff I bought to do a project years ago and which I’ve never started (and never will!). Some things I can make some money from but usually nothing like I paid for them, so I just need to say ‘that was a mistake, and it’s time to move on’. But it’s hard!

Jellycatrabbit · 02/03/2025 17:22

Thanks for the new thread! I thought the last one had gone quiet, didn't realise it was full.

I am on 590, not quite hitting my end of February target of 600. Hoping to get to 750 by the end of March. I have a day off on Weds which will hopefully be a charity shop/tip day.

Pigtailsandall · 02/03/2025 18:48

@TidyClutterIsStillClutter you changed the thread name! 😄 it's suitably cheesy.

Busy weekend but I did get rid of 2 pairs of DC grown-out pants so counting those for days 60 amd 61. I also spotted some clothes that definitely don't fit well anymore so I need to cull them at some point.

Riverswims · 02/03/2025 22:16

many boxes out via Olio
new bed for DS in

EllieQ · 02/03/2025 22:57

Day 2 of March decluttering: three packets of expired medication taken to Boots for disposal.

The box and bag of megablocks were collected yesterday, which left us with an empty cube on the kallax unit in the living room 😮 I’ve moved various games from an overflowing cupboard there for now pending a wider reorganisation.

But the big decluttering news is that I finally found a charity that could take the baby clothes that I packed up for donation around this time last year 🙈 and they were dropped off today. There were two boxes and a couple of bags as well. Finally out of the house! This has cleared space underneath a set of shelves in DD’s room, so there’s more space for storage in there.

Pigtailsandall · 03/03/2025 12:39

@EllieQ that's fantastic, I remember the baby clothes woe vividly!

My day 62 declutter was woolly socks for dc. Slightly sad as I forgot about them and now they are too small.

CheesePlantFeet · 03/03/2025 13:20

Really really really trying not to buy unnecessary things this month!

Bin: old underwear, stained shirt, debobbler tool thing that doesn't work
Charity: 2 pairs of gloves, hat

Total 250

Hi everyone thanks for the new thread @TidyClutterIsStillClutter hope the recovery is going ok @ememem84
I haven’t posted in ages but have been continuing to chip away. Priority tasks for this year are the remaining book shelves and the Lego!

EllieQ · 03/03/2025 22:00

Thank you @Pigtailsandall 😊 It’s felt like a long time coming!

Day 3 of March decluttering: one outgrown top of DD’s to the charity bag.

JK3 · 04/03/2025 12:25

Sorry, took me a while to find this thread, didn’t realise the old one was full 🙈

I checked back and found I’d decluttered 321 items before it filled up. Since then I have

Sold 2 items on Vinted
Thrown away a pair of my son’s shoes which were beyond any form of recycling!
De cluttered lots of money on paying holiday balance and annual insurance premiums 😖 shame these don’t count, I’d be a pro!

Total puts this year 324

Pigtailsandall · 04/03/2025 13:57

Day 63 declutter - kids toilet seat thingy. DC hasn't used it in months as they are big enough to sit on the loo without a kids seat attached. It was a nightmare to clean and always floating about the bathroom so happy to pass it on!
