Well done on new thread!

I have been doing some stuff but not been great at keeping track so will try and guesstimate.

Jobs:

  1. Hang up framed pictures: this has now changed to critically go through the framed artwork as we’ve agreed we don’t actually want all of it?
  2. DS2 paperwork: blue badge started
  3. my British passport application - appointment next week DONE!✔️ just have to wait to hear then go to a citizenship ceremony
  4. DS1’s gaming, PC, nerf collections to go through and tidy
  5. Portfolio work - waiting for more to be marked, more to do, always; get loads of bits ready to sign off then meet colleague for a coffee to sign them DONE 9 bits ready to sign off
  6. give away shelf bit of old desk Listed on FB GONE to tip ✔️

Not quite outs yet:
scooter hooks x 3 onto FB, need to bump up, bumped on FB
see if anyone wants a mostly working prelit Christmas tree
jigsaw to go - GONE
2.5 bags of cat litter we shouldn’t need for a long time

Out:
jigsaw
bag for old camping mat
approx 10 OOD covid tests
strap for old iPad cover that I don’t have anymore
rusty old cat crate
broken cat scratcher thing
desk top shelf thing
broken tripod DD had in her room
approx 15 bits from the ‘birthday’ box
194+7+10+15=226

Have bought a new mop, a new (old) board game and some T-shirts for me but decided I wouldn’t count Ins until I feel I’m more on top of the house. Maybe next year.

2 toys de-cluttered as, if they don’t sell on Vinted, I will donate to the charity shop.

Clearing out the kitchen drawers one at a time. several plastic food bags into soft plastic recycling pile. All the jam jars in the same place so that I can decide which to keep. Half a dozen of each size should be enough.

Decluttered three small jam jars into the recycling trolley. A lot more to go.

Went through the accordion file I keep the paperwork in, shredded 3cm of stuff which I'm counting as 30 out. Less and less comes in every year, thankfully.

Slow progress elsewhere.

JK3 · 07/03/2025 11:10

It’s been slow these past few weeks as there really isn’t much we can declutter now but this week I have given away a top that was too small and some school trousers that don’t fit my son any more. Sold 2 toys on Vinted so total outs for 2025 is 330.

stealthninjamum · 07/03/2025 15:06

ive just pulled out a couple of drawers in dd2s bedroom and found 3 pyjamas too small, loads of old school socks (about 12 pairs), a light, some magazines and a swimming costume. I also found some trousers in my wardrobe that are going.

CheesePlantFeet · 07/03/2025 17:29

@Jellycatrabbit papers in filling cabinets are my downfall! I never get rid of anything once it's been filled. It's madness 🤣

Today I've got rid of a basket of wooden crafty bits - log slices and dolly pegs etc - that I will never use and in moving the basket they were in off the shelf, descovered a mouldy patch on the wall that now needs dealing with. Sigh

Then I found a dried flower craft kit, so spent the afternoon making that. Now I have a cute little dried flower hoop in my sitting room and binned the massive box it came in!

Vinted sales: waterproof jacket, christmas dress

It’s the sun, @CheesePlantFeet!

I’m new to this thread - hi 👋 - but today I have donated via FB the piles of clothes I decluttered last month but that never made it to the charity shop:
36 items

I also took two bags at Christmas, so about another 30 things.

60 clothing items out.

Today I threw out 6 Tupperware lids with no bottoms and 3 with no tops (how does that happen?!)
2 chopping boards that were always too small to be useful (IKEA pixies)
4 grubby tea towels

75 things gone!

JK3 · 08/03/2025 17:21

Sold and posted one item on Vinted
Gave away a toothbrush holder and soap dish - replaced with just 1 item so one out

total outs 332

EllieQ · 08/03/2025 18:53

Days 4-7 of March decluttering: nothing.

Day 8: 1 pair outgrown joggers to charity bag; 2 unopened packs of socks to go on Vinted (bought in the next size up, but now DD has reached that size, she doesn’t like them); and I shredded about a third of my bag of receipts (which I’ll count as 1).

I used to be very careful about checking receipts for card payments and cash withdrawals again my bank statement, then over the past few years it drifted, and drifted, and I’ve been stuffing them all into a bag that lives down the side of my bed. I’ve now decided that it’s ridiculous, I don’t need to check them all against bank statements, and just did 30 minutes of shredding this morning.

I also got all our various thermos mugs out of the kitchen cupboards to review. I only want to keep four of them, but need DH to have a look in case he wants to keep any more.

IndianSummer78 · 08/03/2025 19:23

Yesterday I decided to sort the stuff under my DDs bed. It's one of those beds that lifts up and there's 2 storage compartments under the mattress. I managed to go through one of them. But the pistons that hold the thing up had leaked oil or similar all over 2 table cloths that my grandma had hand embroidered, probably in the 1930s or 40s and 2 bedspreads that my grandad had crocheted just before he died. They've been very gently washed and all the marks have gone thank goodness. I'm so glad for the sunny weather to dry them, the table clothes are seriously thick cotton and have taken 2 days to dry. Going to store them in vaccum bags now!

Bin/Charity shop: 3 x nightwear, pair of shoes
Vinted: denim dress, jeans, baseball hat

So pleased they came up clean and that the beautiful weather helped to dry them all!

No outs today but repaired a charger so didn’t need to waste money buying a new one

I had a ridiculously busy Friday and then terrible period pains yesterday, so did nothing much. But today has been gorgeous and a wonderful lazy Sunday. I managed to dry 2 loads of washing outside and tidy the garden.

I've had to really dig deep for declutter stuff. Day 66 I used an old flannel for a dirty cleaning job and then binned it. Day 67 - small bath oil sachet sample used up; day 68, a pack of new shoelaces (bown, we have no brown shoes)

Gotta get back on the declutter horse this week

SardinesOnGingerbread · 09/03/2025 21:52

Cleared out the box in the kitchen that we keep assorted bags in. Pile of about 30 paper bags to go to the charity shop and also six cloth shopping bags. I have a good few already and don't use all those. Also cleared out a two thirds full bottle of a nasty smelling hand soap that had taken up semi permanent residence in a cupboard instead of being thrown out immediately.
