I've really fallen off the thread but determined to get back into it. Few bits sold on Vinted but hopefully will be able to tackle some problem areas this weekend.

londonmummy1966 · 09/04/2022 21:42

The bundle of fabric I put together on Thursday sold and out of the door and a dress on Vinted to go tomorrow. May not be much but better than nothing.

Also fallen off the thread recently, but here I am on page 40 reporting some decluttering today. I took another bag of baby toys to the charity shop (with a little bit of a pang as it included two that DD loved as a baby). I also put two summer tops in the charity bag, but as I’d bought four new tops this week, it doesn’t really count unless I get rid of two more!

LivingDeadGirlUK · 10/04/2022 15:43

I've taken a bag of books, clothes and blankets to the charity shop, its something thats been on the floor in my bedroom for a while so its a bit more floor exposed!

Holey pair of pjs in the textiles tip pile, and about to gift some old toys via our wastesavers group.

GeneLovesJezebel · 10/04/2022 15:46

Put a few things up for sale on Facebook, but got messed around and a strange message off a man, so I’ve taken it off and it’s going to the charity shop.
Need to do my whole loft .

Haven’t been here for a bit again . We have been getting ready for our next Wed Finland trip frantically since only decided to try to go there with 2 w to spare . Have been organising the dog boarding ( he’s never been and his doggy daycare didn’t have any availability so it was a bit of a problem ). We met the lady of the couple he’ll stay with through a nearby well rated agency we’ll have to trust since we don’t want to put him into a kennel . We moved flights we had rescheduled when we cancelled before Christmas, found the hotel etc . Several medical appointments lately and tomorrow physio for DS then turns out DD had fractured the top of her finger playing basketball with DS a while ago and after a private GP appointment yesterday she and DH ended up in a walk in centre for X-rays . Now it’s in a splint and the fracture clinic will be in touch . Had to then cancel a bunch of things like her riding lesson and trampolining ,and I don’t know what we can do in Finland , there’s possibly a few ski centres still open in the south too . I had booked bowling and ice skating for her birthday after we’re back then she’s meant to take part in a charity triathlon in a few weeks as well so it’s all very annoying plus it’s on the right hand so writing is hard as well . It’s lucky we’re not trying to go on some activity holiday right now ( was looking at finally going long haul again at October halfterm maybe Mexico if we’re lucky ) and of course lucky it’s not a broken arm or a leg and it’s still perfectly straight and works . Just typical timing .
DH didn’t have time to go back to the locker after his first visit there . We did other stuff instead . He has done dump a few times though so garage keeps on getting emptier . When we’re back he needs to decide on the hard landscaper and get his shed built and motorcycle ready to sell then he can bring in his little boat he just went to see in the reservoir he used to sail it in competitions so he can fix it up a bit to sell as well . In all we then have two big things to sell ; a motorcycle and a boat , and several smaller items ;the 2 buggies , motor cycle panniers , a Herman Miller office chair ,my handbag and 2 pairs of designer shoes . I need to prompt him to do these asap ! He’s sold a bunch of bikes and engines and even boats lately so he just has to get around to it . When we’re back I’ll get him to empty the rest of the storage locker to dump , charity and the few items here to clean and sell like the buggy and motorcycle panniers . I have today managed to label and move 4 boxes out of the dining room to the attic ( 2 mailing envelopes , 1 my clothes I kept 5 things only when I went through them ,and sentimental cards ) . Besides everyday stuff ,things for the trip and endless appointments I’ve gotten DD birthday organised except we’ll plan her party later . I also booked DD first covid vaccine after getting a letter finally , and a couple of secondary school tours . Also finally ordered myself glasses since I can’t see further away so well anymore especially with a migraine headache . It’s odd after a lifetime of good vision it’s come to this . I’ve been using DH glasses but they’re not strong enough . The to do list is endless but we keep chipping at it . Right now I’m skipping going to movies since I had to stay home to get packing etc done .
I finished the last month’s minimalism challenge a bit late but I did it and that’s it for me I’ll just stay with this thread from now on . I’ve decluttered roughly 40 more things I’ve remembered to write down in my running list since the minimalism challenge .

Glad that everyone is still decluttering

Today's out was half a bag of bits to the charity shop - quite a lot of them were old school dictionaries etc in various languages but the shop is right next to quite a poor estate so hopefully someone will pick up books needed for school more cheaply and neither or my DC have kept their languages on.

New thread here for when we've cluttered this one right up

@londonmummy1966 brilliant storage idea 😂 didn’t even think of that.

I’ve had a successful few days selling a steriliser and two brand new unused baby bottles . I’ve then finally had someone buy a watch I had on but it seems to be causing an issue as seller isn’t too happy about no battery but started messaging me after she’d bought it 🤔 the bloody watch is tainted as was an ex boyfriend that gave me it!

WildPoinsettia · 12/04/2022 02:52

I got rid of another bag-of-bags

seperatedmum · 12/04/2022 11:35

Decluttering tip for you- let something get covered in dirt then it's not sentimental anymore, you're welcome 😳

WildPoinsettia · 12/04/2022 20:24

Oh no SeparatedMum hope you're not too sad about it.

Another novel read and added to the donations pile today.

ememem84 · 12/04/2022 22:44

I am back in my house!

Moved back on Saturday.

Since then two huge laundry bags of clothes have been charity shopped along with a coffee machine 6 cook books some cups a microwave stair gate book case. Changing mat binned.

About a zillion tonnes of cardboard and packaging gone.

And some of the dcs toys were stealth removed.

seperatedmum · 13/04/2022 08:06

I think im ok, I've got a photo of when it was clean, I did however throw out one of the boxes from my Liz Earle advent calendar I want to keepnot really sentimental but want it so gotta look through recycling for that. then the children can give me lots of lovely presents again 🤞🏽
londonmummy1966 · 13/04/2022 18:59

@ememem84 - hope the move back has gone well. COme on over to the new thread and tell us!

LivingInaBuildingSite · 16/04/2022 16:17

I fell off the wagon and thread months ago but thought I’d pop back in.

Not doing brilliantly, builders still here. Lots of things without a home yet.

Have got a pile for the charity shop including most of the jigsaws, kids only wanted to keep one, I’ve kept two that were presents.

I gave away an old camera to a collector, was just making me feel guilty whenever I saw it as I always meant to try and get some old film and give it a go. Was a relief to pass it along.

Have a boot full of shopping bags to pass along from a charity collection for Ukraine where everybody donated in bags that they didn’t want.
Also, leant a basket to a friend for Easter things, so all contents now on the floor 🙄 may try and go through them and see if it’s all to keep.

DD’s birthday party today, so more stuff coming in, only 3 guests so limited thankfully.
