Glad to report a bit done today, a few baby clothes that were never worn, so not sure why I kept them but as they're not sentimental they're going.

londonmummy1966 · 11/03/2022 00:19

@Vinorosso74 - welcome back - hope all is going well post treatment. I sympathise @stealthninjamum as I'm in a similar space at the moment for the same reason and am struggling to motivate myself to do anything except scroll through MN....

I've been doing the odd minor thing - a few ebay sales posted out and I managed to give away the bread making kit to a neighbour. (Just who thinks someone who has spent much of the past 20 years chained to a kitchen sink wants a bread making kit for a present??) Disappointed that British Heart Foundation cannot be arsed to get back to me about furniture I wanted to donate to them so I've still got a dismantled bed in my ensuite. I need to think of another way to get rid of it. Beyond that I think that I've done most of the easier stuff and need to get ruthless with the likes of the linen cupboard which is always pretty grim and a two person job to unfold, check and refold bedlinen.

WildPoinsettia · 11/03/2022 00:23

One magazine read and recycled (I have a stack I'm working through)

stealthninjamum · 11/03/2022 12:53

Thanks everyone I’m feeling better today. Last night - without being asked - dd2 decluttered her bedroom. Some of the toys she’s selling / giving away have boxes so I’ll be in the loft in a minute looking for them. She has asked to get rid of a huge pile of stuff.

I’m up to 476 items in the ‘to go’ pile (although lots have already gone). My target is 2022 this year so I am ahead of that so far.

WildPoinsettia · 11/03/2022 19:34

That's impressive Stealthninjamum it's great you've got the family thinking along the same lines.

Some more digital decluttering today for me.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 12/03/2022 17:25

An old pair of shoes and an old bra gone today. Plus some more old paperwork shredded.

londonmummy1966 · 12/03/2022 18:14

@stealthninjamum - glad you're feeling better today. I managed to declutter a bag of knitted squares yesterday to someone collecting them for the local neo natal ICU. Today I've dropped off six books at a local little library. I also had 3 ebay sales collected including a job lot which is another items so feeling a bit better about things. Will try and get back into the habit of at least one thing out a day.

Goldfishmountainclimber · 13/03/2022 06:31

Apologies if this has been asked before, but do you know where you can sell used books and whether it is actually worth it? Any views or advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Pineappleapple · 13/03/2022 08:06

Hi everyone, pleased with yesterday's success, finished going through a photo album and now have slimmed 5 albums into 3 without losing any pictures I wanted. Just blurry ones etc. So a little more room on the shelf. Not sure where to tackle next really. Definitely need to visit the tip, stuff is piling up. OH got rid of a t-shirt yesterday too.
Goldfish - not sure sorry, I have never bothered. I think fiction is probably hard to sell, I generally give to charity shop.

Vinorosso74 · 13/03/2022 14:26

I just found a bag of 6 small cushions we were sent by a family friend in Australia when DD was a baby. They're all very twee with slogans on, such as "if mums were flowers, I'd pick you". They're still in the packaging so in good condition. I have a few other things for a charity shop drop off so will pop a couple in the bag. The others can go to different shops.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 13/03/2022 14:47

I've posted 2 items I sold on Vinted today, also carried on with the never ending shredding.

Sorted out my sons books and gifted a carrier bag full via Facebook.

Various bits of rubbish thrown out from the office (room of horrors).

So not bad but I have now realised that I've been dumping stuff in the garage so now THAT also needs a good sort out.

ememem84 · 13/03/2022 17:30

Dropped off thread. But house is coming along. Kitchen gone. Doors gone. Walls gone. Windows in.

Next week electrics get their second fix I think.

Today DH and I went to house and did a bit more of a declutter. Ditching/charity shopping:

Microwave
Coffee machine
Hand blender
Instant pot
Two table mats and coasters
A wine glass
Tongs and fish slice
Coffee cups
Curtains

londonmummy1966 · 13/03/2022 19:09

Went to take DD2 out for lunch today as she was bored at school. Came back with 2 display books so I can take all the DC certificates down from the family wall and put them in the books. Will then have a think about what to replace them with. Whilst i was out DH has culled some books and taken them to the charity shop. I've packed up and posted an ebay sale.

Slow progress but it is progress.....

Nordicmom · 13/03/2022 19:24

We’ve started emptying the storage locker finally ! The first load is in the house .I asked for boxes of my too small clothes , any kids clothes DH would have missed last times and kids school books . First school box is next to my bed now to start with .
DH took the remaining baby / toddler clothes bags I’d sorted out earlier to the charity shop today , I’ve got a pile of newspapers and magazines going to recycling and DD too small school clothes will be donated to school and a few shabby cardigans will go to clothes bank . DH is progressing on putting up garage shelves to get stuff of the floor other surfaces and unpacking small things into his new drawers then plastic storage boxes will go . He’ll change a small part in his motorcycle and will then hopefully sell it soonish ,that’ll be quite a bit of floor space freed . We’ve had a crazy amount of appointments and admin recently besides the usual stuff that’s taken our time and energy so not much decluttering done but we are keeping at it and things are slowly getting done in this house . We’ve given the landscapers one last chance to get on with it then we’ll go with someone else . Also have decided on a bunch of furniture after a long pondering so will hopefully get that ordered today .

Pineappleapple · 14/03/2022 12:35

2 bath toys gone!

LivingDeadGirlUK · 14/03/2022 17:57

10 bits of my son's old clothes donated today. Every bit helps :)

stealthninjamum · 14/03/2022 18:20

I’m up to 500 items in the ‘outs’ pile now. Since I last posted I’ve added dinosaurs, ancient seed packets and various bits of plastic.

goldfishmountainclimber I sell
Books on the ziffit and webuybooks apps. They also take CDs,DVDs and videogames.

I scan all the items on both apps and sel the items to the app that will give me the most money. I’ve found that ziffit tends to give more but sometimes webuybooks will buy books that ziffit won’t take. I once got £5 for a doctor Zeuss book but often I just get 10p or 30p. It’s worth it because if you have enough they will collect the books which saves me a drive into my local town. I have found that some collections like early reading collections or famous five, Ronald Dahl, or simply lots from one author can get a reasonable amount from Facebook buyers.

londonmummy1966 · 14/03/2022 19:04

A couple of jackets out today to a friend's daughter who has a new job and needs a new smarter wardrobe really nice to help out that way rather than an anonymous charity shop.

Well done @stealthninjamum - 500 items is a lot when the year is not yet a quarter done

LivingDeadGirlUK · 14/03/2022 20:28

Last year I gifted a massive box of workwear to a local charity that helps low income people with interview clothes. Def worth looking if there is something similar nearby if, like me, your now wearing work clothes 2 sizes bigger than pre lockdown :P

londonmummy1966 · 14/03/2022 22:45

My daughters have raided my wardrobe like a pair of vultures so there is relatively little left now other than vintage stuff that I'd like to sell as it was expensive in the first place. (1980s vintage Laura Ashley ball gowns and Droopy & Browns so is worth quite a bit if I could find the right place.) I'm struggling to find a good site to resell vintage though.

ememem84 · 15/03/2022 06:59

Used up shampoo and conditioner and a cleanser. So those are binned.
The builders took our French doors in our house yesterday and replaced with a window.

When we move out of here (temporary accommodation) we will need to do a de clutter again. But for now….

seperatedmum · 15/03/2022 07:47

2 bags of clothes/shoes went to NDN yesterday= ok considering it was a work day for me

WildPoinsettia · 15/03/2022 11:33

Another bag-of-bags gone.

stealthninjamum · 15/03/2022 18:55

I took another three bags to the charity shop - mainly stuff that dd2 got rid of last week.

I also spent a few hours trying to make Lego sets and playmobil sets to sell them or at least give them away complete. This meant going up in the loft. My loft is largely empty other than old Lego and playmobil boxes and I’ve brought so many down it’s even emptier.

I also ordered ten moving boxes. I never wanted to pack my stbexh’s stuff - it’s just another job he never did - but his stuff is everywhere so I’m going to at least pack it so I can get rid of furniture that it sits on. I won’t be so annoyed if I have ten moving boxes to look at

LivingDeadGirlUK · 15/03/2022 20:33

A bundle of 5 items of clothing sold and posted today.
