A couple of ebay sales packed up to go tomorrow. Also put together a parcel of bits that DD wanted to send to her godmother for her little girl so a few things out today.

EllieQ · 16/03/2022 07:41

I went through DD’s toy storage earlier this week and pulled out all the baby toys that she doesn’t play with any more - they almost filled a bag for life. Went through all the toys with her and she picked a few to keep, but about 75% can go. I’m sure there are a few more baby toys stashed in her room, so I’ll try to find them this week and take everything to the charity shop on Saturday.

Not feeling too upset or emotional about this, which is good.

Vinorosso74 · 16/03/2022 11:38

Dropped bag into a charity shop this morning and got rid of some plastic bags/packaging at the supermarket.
I need to get a bit of brain space back to deal with some of the things we can sell.

seperatedmum · 16/03/2022 19:18

put aside some more stuff for NDN and rags respectively when putting away washing today I'll just keep going till I've got a bag of each. also STBXH's taking a plant. tidied LOLs off the table but still in house so neutral

Nordicmom · 17/03/2022 01:34

I’ve actually managed to get on with things and ordered most of the furniture just deciding about a floor lamp and the dining table but I think I’ve chosen them so will order soon .
Will need to try to dismantle the elliptical and transport it to the second floor attic room from its the current location in the half furnished dining room . I have gone through 2 school notes and work book boxes .kept just a small stack so most to recycling and a few plastic bits to bin . I also decluttered the whole contents of the kids clothes box except one pair of new sweatpants I kept for DD . I have looked through quickly ,repacked and labelled the school photos , a box of kids toys I removed two toy cars and a few dvds from and a box of DS D&T school projects I’m keeping although one bit of wood I’ll have to ask about it might not be needed . I am going to hopefully quickly go through a box of my old clothes . I think all of it can go as well . More storage boxes have been ordered ,I have 3 bigger new ones left but needed more of the medium size . I still have 2 school book boxes , 1 school / nursery memory box , 2 kids book boxes left after that from the first load DH brought me from our storage locker. he estimates roughly a similar amount of boxes left plus a buggy or two and some baby furniture etc . I can’t wait to be done with this locker and the attic then there still organising in the garage . It feels never ending …

Nordicmom · 17/03/2022 13:03

I ended up decluttering the whole contents of the large storage box of my old clothes only kept one item so happy about that ! I’m proud of myself being able to do the 7 of the 12 boxes already from the storage locker . No more procrastination! Now waiting for more new medium sized storage boxes to pack what I want to keep into . Luckily I still have 3 large ones I can use until then . I’ve asked if DH could get me another load of the boxes to sort out while he and kids will go to MIL this weekend and I’m by myself .

LivingDeadGirlUK · 17/03/2022 19:44

Today 2 pairs of shoes and box of chocolates :D

londonmummy1966 · 18/03/2022 01:05

well done @Nordicmom - sounds like a good day

Two more ebay sales packed up ready to go. Also friends daughter who had some clothes from me earlier in the week has asked for some evening dresses for work too so will drop those off early next week - all bagged up and ready to go though.

DD2 home for the weekend so will ask her to go through a box of stuff and decide if it is to stay or go.

Morning all, been enjoying reading all your updates. The days and weeks have been running away with me!

I've got off to a slow start with Vinted but so far sold 4 items which I'm really pleased with! Two charity bags went out on Monday including some bric a brac items.

I have done some spending too but pre-loved stuff so being more mindful. I'm a bit addicted at looking at Vinted Blush

LivingDeadGirlUK · 18/03/2022 20:20

4 pairs of leggings out today.

EllieQ · 19/03/2022 17:00

Took a bag of baby toys to the charity shop today, which was about half of the toys we sorted out earlier this week. Felt good to get them out of the house! Some of the others use batteries so I need to check if they all still work before dropping them off next week.

seperatedmum · 20/03/2022 09:23

a little reflection from me; I feel like I'm able to do a bit more now tho it's still glacial progress compared to the rest of you I don't know if that's because of my new vitamins, or because I've made some slight progress with the divorce or if it's psychological? I washed the floors Friday night and that made me feel more like doing stuff, eldest's mates popped in and sat down whilst I was clearing outside which would've been very stressful a year ago, eldest eventually hoovered his bedroom floor after a lot of bribery but he keeps going in the odd socks and clothes set aside to build up for charity which just drives me mental 🤬 he's got clothes 🙄

ememem84 · 20/03/2022 10:19

Binned my dressing gown today. It was ratty and tatty. But the final straw today was another spilled coffee on it (thanks ds). It won’t last another wash and tumble. So it’s gone.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 20/03/2022 13:28

Its a cleaning catch up day today but I have listed a few more bits on Vinted.

Vinorosso74 · 20/03/2022 17:55

Nothing major gone but SIL took 3 toys/games for her DC today.
Some ins as I bought myself some new vest tops. I have several which are misshapen, loose threads which can go so will sort them out this week.

londonmummy1966 · 20/03/2022 19:40

Nothing out today but I took down some "gallery wall" display pockets which had originally held toddler art and subsequently been the DCs "boasting wall" with their certificates etc in. It was incredibly useful when they were younger but now they're adults I'm not sure they need their swimming certificates on display.... I've put all the important certificates in display books (one each) and offered the pockets on a local mums group. However if anyone on here wants a means to organise and display children's art do let me know and I'll post them to you....

MrsTidyHouse · 20/03/2022 22:42

It's a while since I got rid of anything. Something clicked this morning, and I got started again. With DS's help, I'm working my way through old techy stuff.

Three ancient mobile phones set aside for recycling at tip.

Four pairs ripped pyjama trousers now in rag drawer for dusters.

One ripped man's shirt into ragbag.

Three DS's shirts repurposed as gardening/housework shirts for me.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 21/03/2022 06:49

Last night I found, and 'decluttered' some gin miniatures I got for Christmas last year and was subsequently lost on the shelf of doom. Bit sleepy this morning lol

ememem84 · 21/03/2022 11:43

Decluttered a lot of wine yesterday. Ffs. When will I learn.

Today am doing some serious hydrating. And am eating all the things.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 21/03/2022 20:31

1 pair of holey socks out today.

EllieQ · 21/03/2022 22:15

Shredded/ recycled a few bits of paperwork today (delivery notes mainly). Feeling frustrated that the only way I can get even tiny bits of decluttering done is to sacrifice my free time , and even then it’s going at a glacial pace Sad

londonmummy1966 · 22/03/2022 00:37

Finally got a 5ft bed out of the house! Really pleased there is no longer a pile of wooden slats in the bathroom!

Nordicmom · 22/03/2022 01:01

I’ve managed to go through another 2 medium boxes of baby and toddler clothes all of which except about 4 items I decluttered to charity shop mainly. a few bits to clothes bank then I did 2 big boxes of my own old clothes again very nearly all to charity and just kept a few . All in all about 80+ items from our storage locker heading right out and not to cluttering up our attic room so very happy of the progress so far ! we are tossing most of what we’re bringing back from the locker . I have another 12 boxes to sift through and to repack neatly into nice new labelled boxes what I want to keep . I’ve had bad time with my storage boxes so having to organise most of them being sent back . I’ve ordered more from a place I’ve used before hopefully they’re ok they should arrive tomorrow as should a piece of furniture for the dining room . Am waiting for chairs too , table’s being ordered soon once the elliptical has been moved . I’m hoping DH will be able to go get some stuff out of the locker and take it to the dump next weekend ! There’s a few loads like that and the buggy to sell left in there I think . I just want it done and off my list !

Pineappleapple · 22/03/2022 07:12

EllieQ totally get you on having to use only bit of free time did decluttering, in the same boat. It's hard. I find I feel more motivated when I"ve identified an area to go through and I know there are things in there which can go, otherwise I am stalling a bit. OH got rid of a jacket and t-shirt. Visited some family who are hoarders, not extreme like on telly but they really do have so much stuff. Old magazines, many multiples of cleaning stuff. Having to move piles to a different room to clear space. Just makes it hard work for them. Have come back thinking I need to carry on decluttering. I have definitely got my tendancies from them.

stealthninjamum · 22/03/2022 13:18

ellieq I know it’s frustrating to give up free time to do decluttering but in the long run it will save you time so if you didn’t do it life would be harder. So much of the decluttering we do saves us time when we find things quicker but it’s easy to forget that.

Since I last post I have got rid of tights, magazines, trousers, books, some stuff in the freezer I didn’t like.

I also made a few packing boxes and started packing stbexh’s things. It has made me realise how much we own as a family. I do feel good knowing I don’t have to look at his stuff (although I now have a pile of boxes which bother me less)

Anyway my ‘ours’ are now 541.
