Another dump trip. Got rid of plates cups glasses knives forks couch etc.

Will most likely do the clear out again once we put the things back into the new kitchen.

TruffleNoir · 14/02/2022 15:54

@FurBabyMum02 thank you. I understand what you mean about choosing time out rather than going to bed. It really is as important!

londonmummy1966 · 14/02/2022 19:06

Amazed how anyone does any decluttering with tinies around...

Today I have got rid of a dozen books via Freecycle and have people coming on Wednesday who will take 60 more between them so half a set of shelves will be empty at that point. One ebay package out and fingers crossed someone is going to buy several items as they messaged to ask if I'd give them a discount.

I've also ordered a lot of small organza bags as I find them helpful for organising jewellery as I can see what is inside. I have a lot of the DCs jewellery that I don't want them to lose/trash so I plan on sorting their jewellery into colour coded bags and rebag mine as the current bags are looking a bit tatty. I might look at getting rid of some costume jewellery at the same time.

A few poundshop toys gone, bought them ages ago to entertain kids who come round, but my toddler is growing out of them and my friends kids are too old. Would like to do a little bit today, but not sure I will manage it. Definitely a challenge decluttering with little ones!

seperatedmum · 15/02/2022 15:49

cleared loads out of porch cupboard, it's the gift that keeps giving while getting paint out to tart bathroom up

Alrightqueenie · 15/02/2022 16:02

Boxed up a few jigsaws for friends kids, unopened so brand new really. I've got a toddler bed in the garage I'll put up on Facebook market place later.

Also boxed up kids old books to drop off at the nursery down the road. Bagged up dd's old clothes, she's grown 10 inches over night! Shock

I've told dh that if he doesn't sort the shed out then I will and I am ruthless. There'll be nothing in there by th e time I've finished! Grin We're decluttering ahead of a house move so I've really got to get my skates on.

FurBabyMum02 · 15/02/2022 20:23

Started on the kitchen today, got a blender we were given when we moved in (coincided with gran doing out the caravan and we had most of it after putting everything on the deposit) that I've been keeping for 8 years to puree baby food and has never been used as we did baby led weaning, huge space now created where that was. Also 10 mismatched wine glasses out (also caravan rescues) kept the set of 8 big ones which still seems ridiculous as I'm the only 1 who drinks, not at the moment anyway as I'm breastfeeding and very rarely at home.
Also had my first ever sale today! Listed a skirt on Facebook marketplace yesterday and today it's gone, couldn't believe it!

londonmummy1966 · 15/02/2022 22:40

Not a lot done today as I went to see the Hogarth exhibition at the Tate. I did manage to offload 3 books on the friend I went with as they are relevant for her PhD. Also had a couple of sales on ebay so they are packed up and ready for the postman to collect tomorrow. Main task tomorrow will be boxing up books for people to collect from Freecycle. Hopefully loads will go in the next 24 hours.

Think that definitely wins the thread @ememem84!

Not much going on here. Managed to tidy up the pile of DD’s stuff on top of the mini chest of drawers that holds paper and art supplies. Lots of random bits of paper in the bid, and I’ve put a small storage box on there to hold notebooks and pens that don’t fit in the drawers. One of the drawers is full of sticks Confused hence the need for storage on top!

seperatedmum · 16/02/2022 09:16

added some more non working electricals to the pile

can I ask advice I think I know the answer- if I order a hippo bag so I don't need STBXH help we have no driveway, 5m away from road will be on a common area, people will just fill it before I get a chance won't they? any experience?

8stone13 · 16/02/2022 10:45

@ememem84 Someone came to my house just as my kitchen was removed & looked like your photo two. He took one glance & said: "Well, you're committed now aren't you" 😆

WildPoinsettia · 16/02/2022 17:32

Bin day so another pile of cardboard has gone from the recycling stack. I've one box left to get rid of after its next emptied then it's all gone.

FurBabyMum02 · 16/02/2022 19:28

Had another good session in the kitchen today and got rid of 2 bags of rubbish from under the kitchen sink and reorganised it all neatly. I've been keeping various baskets aside from decluttering the rest of the house and they came in handy today, if the others don't get used they will also be going in the charity pile.

londonmummy1966 · 16/02/2022 23:39

About 30 books out today - the lady who came to collect them brought a shopping trolley and we filled it. Someone is coming tomorrow and I've got about 60 for them to take. Also someone bought 5 items from me on ebay so a parcel waiting for the postman tomorrow. DC1 popped home this afternoon and took several music books as well.

Alrightqueenie · 17/02/2022 07:29

I decluttered under the sink last night, everything always fell out when I opened the door! All the laundry has been put away & the charity bag of clothes are in the boot for drop off.

Today I'm going to tackle the dreaded cupboard under the stairs, wish me luck. Everything will be removed, sorted for charity or dump and then put back.

Next it will be under the sofas and book cases, same as cupboard under stairs treatment. Same for all the house cupboards, today will be cupboard sorting day. The weather is atrocious outside so I might as well declutter because the estate agent is coming tomorrow.

Pineappleapple · 17/02/2022 12:35

Emenem wow!
Queenie sounds like you are doing amazing.

I identified some pj's that are too small, that's all from me for now. Would love a day to myself to get some proper decluttering done! Just have to keep reminding myself that a little bit here and there adds up

Alrightqueenie · 17/02/2022 13:05

Thank you Pineappleapple I'm desperate to move house and although I love my current home, we've outgrown it. Dh reckons we can declutter once we've moved Hmm Confused. He doesn't understand that we'd have to pay the removal guys to move our junk to the new house! So it's best to declutter now especially before the estate agent takes their pictures. You'd think it was obvious but not to my dh it isn't!

LivingDeadGirlUK · 17/02/2022 16:20

Well I'm back from taking my son away at half term to find a wonderfully clean and tidy house. Ready to get back into the declutter as there is still so much stuff everywhere!

I've just listed a few more bits on Vinted, I'm starting to feel like I've got there with my wardrobe which is nice and I'm going to try and enjoy it before I it's time to switch in the Spring items.

My son's clothes however could use some work, lots of small items at the back of the cupboard.

I let my partner talk me into this and we are STILL trying to declutter it 4 years later...
londonmummy1966 · 17/02/2022 19:03

I had a lucky win with a gentleman who came to pick up some books I'd put on Freecycle. He wanted them for a community project and was happy to wait while I whizzed around the shelves and found a load more for him to take. SO at least 100 Kindleable books have left the house. I also dropped off another half dozen at the local little library that was looking a bit empty this afternoon. I decided to delist some items from vinted that weren't selling, packed them in a surplus rucksack with some other bits and pieces and dropped the lot off at the charity shop. Then went and bought a load of new underwear as TKMaxx had a brand I like in at a big discount.......

seperatedmum · 17/02/2022 20:43

2 arm fulls of cuttings from garden and 2 bags of rubble out
few more items added to the dump pile
1 bag of clothes gone to children's cousin, I'll eventually get it back probably with more so that's a neutral
1 pair of shoes ready for NDN's daughter

WildPoinsettia · 18/02/2022 13:54

Well done with finding homes for the books LondonMummy. I'm having to read/re-read mine before I can decide whether to let them go or not so it's taking ages.

I tried to charge the handheld vacuum cleaner last night and discovered it's broken. Probably from being half dropped swept swiftly onto the floor ages ago so I could unplug the (literally 🤦 ) flaming toaster. I didn't use the vacuum much so I shan't bother getting it repaired. Into the recycling it goes.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 18/02/2022 15:51

I've sorted out all the too small or worn out PJ's and put them aside for textile recycling/gifting depending on state.

duvetdayforeveryone · 18/02/2022 15:53

Today I decluttered my wardrobe and shoes. I've been meaning to do it for a long time so it feels good now it is done :)

Tomorrow I need to do my cosmetics and books.
