Been away for the weekend so not much decluttering other than yet more old filing for shredding today & the departure of some more skincare bottles & tubes that I was determined to use up. I've had multiple containers cut in half so I could get to the last bit of contents hanging around but they're pretty much done now!

Dinosauraddict · 31/01/2022 22:18

Good declutter day here - DH took a bag and a painting to the charity shop for me, I deleted over 100 photos from my phone, unsubscribed from more mailing lists, got rid of 1 stapler, 1 pack of laminating pouches, 1 tub of pins, 1 tub of treasury tags, 1 pair of DS' socks, 1 of DS' jumpers and I would say 1 book, but DH then bought DS another book today so that was one in - one out. Downloaded Olio to reduce food waste and had a butternut squash collected.

seperatedmum · 01/02/2022 11:10

in all honesty- yesterday was just some clothes put aside for NDN and school uniform collection again- determined to keep going for my myself

ememem84 · 01/02/2022 12:46

Got rid of a bra yesterday. And a pair of trousers this morning.

Back in the office in office clothes meant a panic as I’ve been in jeans for the past 2 years….my one pair of black trousers was snug but only just passed the squat test. Didn’t trust them not to break during the day.

WildPoinsettia · 01/02/2022 20:18

Out: a key that's not for my home Confused and some library ticket-book-pass thingys for where I used to live 5yrs ago

EllieQ · 01/02/2022 20:39

Another bag of worn-out bedding (sorted a few months ago) to the charity bank yesterday for textile recycling. But also had some ins yesterday (dressing gown and new joggers for DD; new slippers for me), so need to look at getting rid of the items they’re replacing.

Dinosauraddict · 02/02/2022 06:41

Very slow day here yesterday but I got rid of a couple small items like a key ring we've never used, unsubscribed from more mailing lists and as part of my digital declutter I turned off all phone notifications for apps that weren't crucial.

stealthninjamum · 02/02/2022 11:05

11 fairy toys gone yesterday. Many were from a craft set like a paper bed so could be recycled. It’s taking a bit longer as I am working with dc to organise their spaces. The toys cleared out a whole cube in dd2s bedroom furniture to put a Lego display.

149 things out but to do 2022 this year I need to be up to 198 so after a great start I have to do loads to catch up.

WildPoinsettia · 02/02/2022 11:08

I need to commit to reading something from the pile of unread things daily. Then I can declutter what I've read. Today's out: one small magazine into the recycling and an ancient smoke alarm that no longer works.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 02/02/2022 20:07

I've thrown away a broken hair tie and given away a bike that my son grew out of.

londonmummy1966 · 02/02/2022 22:16

Out yesterday was a vinted sale. Today 6 jam jars to a neighbour who likes making preserves and a card with 6 character buttons on to another neighbour who is knitting for a new grandchild. Not a lot but at least its something.

Dinosauraddict · 03/02/2022 05:59

I think 6 jam jars is pretty good going @londonmummy1966

Good day here yesterday, filled another whole bag with stuff for the charity shop, Inc a glitter photo frame and a large camera tripod, and dropped that off yesterday afternoon so it's not hanging around. I also threw out over 100 items of stationery - used pens, highlighters, rubbers etc. On the digital side, I unsubscribed from more mailing lists but also deleted 150 photos and 7 videos from my phone!

8stone13 · 03/02/2022 16:02

A bit of digital decluttering here, deleted photos I took of items to list on eBay et al that have recently been sold. Why on earth was I hanging onto those?! 🤨😀

londonmummy1966 · 03/02/2022 17:13

Thanks @Dinosauraddict .

Today is even less constructive - just a vinted sale off to its new home. My excuse is that I've been invited to a reception at the Beefeaters private pub and then the Ceremony of the Keys at the Tower of London tonight so I had to get my hair done obviously.... Am really excited as I have been watching the series on Inside the Tower for a couple of years. (At least I didn't buy a new outfit Grin)

LivingDeadGirlUK · 03/02/2022 19:47

All I've done today is posted one item. However I had another purchase almost as soon as I got back from the post office so that's good!

I've been cleaning out under the sink and have a few bits to list on facebook.

Fell of the tread a few weeks ago . DD recovered from her covid . she never got too ill and the rest of us managed not to catch it thankfully . Since then I finished the Jan decluttering challenge another 465 i think it was items out of here ,and it was my third month . I’ve gotten about another 90 gathered up since . DS turned 17 and had his first driving lesson with DH on the day I’m his new little car and now we’ve booked him 6 more with an actual teacher . He went on a helicopter flying lesson on his birthday which was most exiting thing I’ve ever done like that about 20 y ago in New Zealand so thought he’d appreciate it . He enjoyed it apparently but it was a bit scary too which was my recollection as well. We then had lovely dinner out with his grandma the next day . Today was the second day of our 23 shutters and 2 roller blinds being fitted in and they’ve done all but the 3 sets of double doors to the garden in the living / dining room . They’re looking good and seem worth the 4 m wait . Finally we’ll get to declutter the 30 paper curtains yeah ( some had more than one on them and we had some blackout ones too ) . DH has also gotten some new Wi-Fi boosters so the old ones will be decluttered either to MIL or to the electronics collection I suppose .
We had a rather large in ;a foosball table for DS present which is in the attic room . DH made space by moving the garage items onto the new rack in the garage . I do need to go do more work up in the attic room again ! Thevrest of DH garage cupboards showed up
today as well so he can then hopefully organise all his tools etc in them neatly . Then still have the garden landscaping to do ( just trees first ) and the bike / garden shed to build and the storage locker to empty . Also need to move my elliptical from dining room to my bedroom or the attic room
( it stores upright but is heavy ) ,and to find a dining table and chairs and a nice lamp there . Also probably need to get a new bed for the guest room since It’s got DD old bed that she broke one slat from although we moved them around so it’s fine for now . I can’t imagine having done all these jobs but one by one we’ll get there .

Nordicmom · 03/02/2022 20:09

Have to add a picture of the shutters I’m so happy with them !

Those are lovely NordicMom

LondonMummy the ceremony of the keys things sounds interesting. Hope you had a lovely evening.

DinosaurAddict inspired by your digital decluttering I deleted a couple of apps I don't use.

Dinosauraddict · 04/02/2022 06:16

@londonmummy1966 how was the reception?

@Nordicmom those blinds look great.

Yesterday I deleted 3 apps on my phone and moved 1 to a more sensible folder as well as unsubscribing from more mailing lists. I got rid of some unused medication, a highlighter pack, 1 tub of out of date peaches, 1 chipped plate, 2 jumpers, 1 pair of socks, and 3 tops of DS' that are too small.

Dinosauraddict · 04/02/2022 06:17

@WildPoinsettia - nice one, I am aiming to get my phone and laptop as organised as the rest of my world bit by bit!

ememem84 · 04/02/2022 07:02

Used up and got rid of a moisturiser yesterday.

Also ditched some tea towels, a pair of ds’ trousers he’d made holes in and some of their artwork.

OddSocksSparklyDocsandDungaree · 04/02/2022 14:18

Can I join?! We are having new carpets fitted soon so need as much decluttering done as possible! Grin

Any tips on decluttering magazines?! I have lots of craft ones!

Nordicmom · 04/02/2022 18:08

And the shutters are done !!! We ordered two more for a couple of bathrooms , they’ll come in June but those windows already have frosting so no hurry, and otherwise it’s all done and looking ace !
Tomorrow / Sunday decluttering a mountain of paper curtains and other packaging , pellets etc from DH garage furniture to the dump . Also need DH to find a charity shop that’s near parking and takes stuff. we had our first ever no last weekend ,they only took console games and kids puzzles since they were too full .
I’m really happy with the shutters ,as they said they really “make the room “and just look like they belong here . Another picture I’m afraid ,this time of the open plan living / dining room . I’m still in the middle of decorating it hence some empty shelves etc but I like it quite bare , less to clean !

4 items listed for sale, if they all go that'll be another £100 🤞🏻

More digital decluttering in the form of photo deletion. I've got thousands I don't want or need!

WildPoinsettia · 04/02/2022 18:20

Got no sleep so had no energy so nothing declutered. But every time I read this thread I'm inspired to go do some even if I can't, so I guess it's helping.

NordicMom your home is beautiful.

Welcome OddSocks Smile magazines I usually read then recycle. Craft magazines I stack, do each project or the closest I can get with whatever supplies I have, then recycle the magazine once all the projects in that magazine are done. In an ideal world, I want to get to the point where I've only two magazines around, the one I'm reading and the one I'm crafting from. No stacks anywhere. But that requires discipline to not buy another when I've already got one. This is not something I'm good at.
