Looking to decluuter the kitchen a bit and looking online people don't seem to have anything out . Not even a toaster! Do they just get it out of a cupboard everytime they use it? I have out toaster, nutri bullet, magimix, actifry. It feels too much. But have no room in cupboards to put it. What do you do?

Toaster, kettle, Nespresso machine. All of these are in daily use so live on the counters. Getting them out every time I need them would be a major faff - even if I had the cupboard space (which I don’t!)

RedCandyApple · 29/12/2021 13:58

Loads, I have a tiny council kitchen though with not many cupboards Barely have enough space for plates and food to fit

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 29/12/2021 13:59

Kettle,toaster microwave.

Appin · 29/12/2021 14:01

None. We have a boiling water tap so no need for a kettle. Toaster is tucked away in a cupboard when not in use.

Its so liberating, I hate clutter in the kitchen!

RJnomore1 · 29/12/2021 14:01

Nespresso and kitchenaid. Toaster lives in a drawer. I have a boiling water tap. Hate clutter(although it’s a constant battle)

Floralnomad · 29/12/2021 14:01

Toaster , kettle , velvetiser , microwave and halogen oven - aside from the toaster I use all of them daily so wouldn’t put them away even if I had a load of spare cupboards .

DramaAlpaca · 29/12/2021 14:02

The toaster, kettle, coffee machine and microwave live on the worktops permanently because they are essential and used most days.

The KitchenAid lives on the worktop because it is pretty.

WhiteCatmas · 29/12/2021 14:03

Obviously if you’re protestant the toaster goes in the cupboard.

Just kettle and toaster. The microwave is built in to the oven stack, and all other gadgets - mixer, blender, etc are in cupboards.

Stade197 · 29/12/2021 14:05

I have a kettle, toaster, radio & nutribullet out as these all get used regularly

SickAndTiredAgain · 29/12/2021 14:07

Kettle, microwave, food processor/blender in an unused corner.

Tinylittlecabbages · 29/12/2021 14:08

Kettle and microwave. The toaster I get out sometimes but often just use the grill during the week

MerryChristmas21 · 29/12/2021 14:09

Coffee machine - too cumbersome to put in a cupboard. Pot with coffee in.

Kettle - not used that often, could be put in a cupboard (if I had the space) but wouldn't because it seems weird. tea bags in cupboard.

Microwave (rarely used, won't be replaced when it dies)

Big pot of utensils - mainly because I don't have a deep second drawer. However, might stay there when the kitchen is redone anyway because it's convenient.

No toaster, low carber so very very rarely is anything toasted & just use the grill.

Olive Oil/pepper/rock salt. HATE them being out, but used throughout the day, every day and equally HATE then not being to hand.

Currently pans/colander etc on stove as due to an accident earlier in the year, I can't easily get them out/put them in the cupboard , but HATE them there and in normal times they live in the cupboard!!

BamberGascoine · 29/12/2021 14:10

Just a kettle. The toaster is stored away. Even if we all had toast every day that’s an average of 20 mins usage plus cooling down time. If I had a massive kitchen I might keep it out. The knly other thing I might allow out is if I replace my coffee machine with a Nespresso or similar

ErrolTheDragon · 29/12/2021 14:10

Toaster, panini press, weighing scales, kettle, coffee grinder. We use all of these frequently, if not daily. I don't have convenient space in cupboards for them.

Also bread maker and yogurt maker out in the utility room.

Between those and storage jars, there's something all round the edge of the work surfaces, which is fine, plenty of room left for working on.

rifling · 29/12/2021 14:11

Thermomix (didn't want one but ..long story) and toaster. No room for anything else!

Yarnivore · 29/12/2021 14:12

Kettle
Sodastream
Microwave
Breadmaker
2 toasters (one gluten free)

Anordinarymum · 29/12/2021 14:12

@Appin

None. We have a boiling water tap so no need for a kettle. Toaster is tucked away in a cupboard when not in use.

I would love one of those taps !
Anordinarymum · 29/12/2021 14:14

Kettle. Toaster, Bread bin. Microwave. Jars of utensils for cooking, two kitchen roll holders but the kitchen is quite large and long and it looks OK when clean :) it's just not always clean...............

prettyteapotsplease · 29/12/2021 14:15

Kettle which I use frequently, and the microwave which is used now and again which is too heavy to move. Sorry to say I haven't the space for much else but if I had the kitchen of my dreams I'd keep the food mixer out and the toaster.

Cherrytart23 · 29/12/2021 14:15

Kettle, toaster, microwave slow cooker, and at the min the dc milkshake maker that will go in s cupboard eventually basically if it's not used every day then its in a cupboard.

AliasGrape · 29/12/2021 14:18

Kettle - in use several times a day
Toaster - used most days

I also keep my food processor out most of the time, and the stick blender is usually knocking around somewhere accessible. This is because I can’t be arsed getting them in and out of the pokey little cupboards every time I want to use them, especially as our cupboards all have childlocks on them which are an absolute ballache. When DD is a bit older and/ or we have a new kitchen with decent storage I’ll start putting those two away.

NoHeavenNoMore · 29/12/2021 14:22

We have too many out on the side (plus many more in the cupboard...)
My grandma keeps her toaster in a cupboard on a trap type thing, she just takes it out and plonks it on the side as and when she needs it. The tray catches all the crumbs and she can just tip that into the bin making it easier for her to manage with her arthritis.

We have on the side:
Microwave
Shark mini hand held hoover (which I hate and cannot see the point of, but DP loves it!!)
Filter coffee machine
Kettle
Ninja
Ninja blender
Toaster

We keep the Ninja out because otherwise we forget to use it/Can't be bothered to get it out of the cupboard because it's too big and bulky. No point having the blender out, never use it. Kettle/toaster/filter coffee/microwave used every day. Have things like toaster maker, waffle maker, pizza maker in cupboard. DP loves gadgets he never uses 🤦‍♀️

BHX3000 · 29/12/2021 14:22

Kettle, toaster, microwave.
Filter jug + replacements.
Not gadgets, but all the oils, salt and big box of teabags are also on a counter. I hate taking that stuff out every time I use it - aka multiple times a day.

roseblosssom · 29/12/2021 14:23

None, I hate clutter.
