Looking to decluuter the kitchen a bit and looking online people don't seem to have anything out . Not even a toaster! Do they just get it out of a cupboard everytime they use it? I have out toaster, nutri bullet, magimix, actifry. It feels too much. But have no room in cupboards to put it. What do you do?

Kettle and toaster at the moment. New kitchen they will both be hidden in breakfast pantry

I don’t own half of the things above listed, wouldn’t have room on side or in cupboards. No steamer, coffee machine, slow cooker, food processor, mixer, soup maker, rice cooker, bread maker, egg basket, etc

purplesequins · 29/12/2021 16:12

toaster and kettle
both used daily

standmixer
used once or twice a week

RedHot22 · 29/12/2021 16:14

We have a boiling water tap and built in microwave. We also have a full height cupboard about 30cms deep. There’s a worktop inside (at worktop height) with plug sockets along the back. Nutribullet, coffee grinder, coffee machine etc are all in there.
The toaster is tucked away in the pantry

TeaAndStrumpets · 29/12/2021 16:18

@WhiteCatmas

Obviously if you’re protestant the toaster goes in the cupboard. Grin
I am lapsed. I used to keep my toaster out but now the worktop is so jampacked it goes in the cupboard Xmas Wink

My Kitchenaid food processor stays out because it is too heavy to move. My large steamer stays out because it is homeless. I got rid of my microwave and replaced it with a Sage oven because it it works faster than my main oven.

Iamanicepersonreally · 29/12/2021 16:21

Kettle, toaster, bread maker and a paper shredder. Not really sure why the shredder is in the kitchen

Kite22 · 29/12/2021 16:21

Not sure where on-line you are looking, but I think 'instagramable' kitchens are just that - posed for the photos.
We actually live here and use our kitchen, so there are all sorts of things on the surfaces - kettle, toaster, microwave, bread bin, breadmaker, a box of lfts , a pile of post, a fruit bowl. Another bowl of satsumas, the coffee maker, the radio, the tub we put compostable stuff into, washing up liquid, hand soap, hand cream, sometime something waiting to be washed up or to go in the dishwasher, an electronic tin opener, and I'm sure lots more besides on different days.

GOODCAT · 29/12/2021 16:23

Kettle, microwave, kitchen roll, tray with tea bags, coffee and water filter, a glass chopping board, the cat's medication and mobile chargers because they get used a lot. It is also in part because my husband doesn't agree that some of this stuff could live somewhere else.

Despite that it is relatively uncluttered compared to my friends and family.

GiltEdges · 29/12/2021 16:24

Toaster, kettle, coffee machine, microwave, soda stream and nutribullet. All in daily use so easier to have them out. Thankfully we have a large kitchen!

PositiveLife · 29/12/2021 16:29

Kettle, toaster, microwave, air fryer.
Kettle is used loads, toaster is used fairly regularly, microwave is used regularly. The air fryer is semi-regular but I have nowhere else to really store it.

I have a small amount of worktop so it's all a bit annoying. I got a 2nd hand island so I had more worktop/storage. I'd love to have the kitchen redone but it's going to be a really expensive job Sad

NatMoz · 29/12/2021 16:34

On the worktops in the kitchen we have a toaster and kettle. Our pantry has a work surface and electric sockets so the ugly stuff goes in there. My microwave, a diseased looking coffee machine, my ancient Kenwood mixer (not a pretty one and stained yellow from the sun) and a perfect prep machine for baby

LadyLazarus40 · 29/12/2021 16:36

We have a kettle and that’s all - I’m annoyed we didn’t have a boiling water tap installed when we redid the kitchen 5 years ago.

prettybird · 29/12/2021 16:41

Kettle, toaster, coffee machine (used to be the larger bean-to-cup machine but it's broken at the moment so we've reverted to our old ground coffee one), food processor (because my new one is too big to go in the cupboard and the blender attachment takes the space in the cupboard that my whole food processor used to Confused) and KitchenAid (because it's too heavy to lift on and off the counter).

Ozanj · 29/12/2021 16:44

No toaster because I use a grill pan over an induction hob which makes toasting anything faster and tastier. No kettle because the Quooker is better. I might get a cake / dough mixer of some sort soon but it won’t be put out.

senorafridgidaire · 29/12/2021 16:49

Kettle, coffee machine, toaster, Kitchen Aid mini chopper thing. Microwave is in the utility room. All in daily use and I could not be arsed with putting them away and taking them back out again. Plus the coffee machine is quite large and heavy so doesn't really lend itself to being moved about

Abraxan · 29/12/2021 16:52

In the kitchen out: kettle, coffee machine and toaster. Microwave is on a shelf just above.

Other devices I keep next door in the utility. Some I use in there: breadmaker, soup maker, slow cooker, etc. others I bring in to the kitchen to use as required: blender, mixer, etc.

grownup2 · 29/12/2021 16:53

I used to find the olive oil, salt and pepper etc being out annoying - though it is practical. I have now dug out an attractive flat glass plate (that we occasionally served nibbles on) and popped them on that. They look more 'intentional' now and it's quick to move the plate and wipe the surface.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 29/12/2021 16:53

Instakitchens aren't cooked in.

Things that are used between daily and once a week are out (and there isn't the cupboard space anyhow).

Microwave
Kettle
Rice Cooker
Steamer
Slow Cooker

At some point, I'm thinking of getting some narrow shelves for the other wall to both store and use the things as it is annoying losing all the worktop space, but I would have to work out a way to fit them around the tumble dryer and still allow the cupboard door to open first.

I did get rid of the stupidly large coffee machine recently as that just pissed me off everytime I looked at it, though. Absolutely no point in the thing, I never wanted it and a crappy instant is my limit most mornings.

HeronLanyon · 29/12/2021 16:58

Small kitchen here. No table or island. I have toaster kettle compact food mixer two mortar & pestles. (Mixer could be put away - used couple times a week) but cupboards are full.

ApolloandDaphne · 29/12/2021 17:01

Toaster, kettle, drip coffee maker, Nespresso machine, Kitchenaid and microwave. I have a lot of workspace though.

friedeggandsauce · 29/12/2021 17:01

When we get out kitchen done I'm planning on a cupboard which you open and use with the toaster in, kettle etc. I can then close the doors on it!

friedeggandsauce · 29/12/2021 17:03

@evilharpy I've just googled gooseneck kettles. Why are they better for certain uses?

I now want to eat toast after reading about toasters!

botanicalseverywhere · 29/12/2021 17:10

I've got a fair run of worktop space, probably 10m but here goes 😂

bread bin
toaster
combi micro oven (B I G appliance)
kettle
pot with long handled utensils in it
Kenwood Chef
Instant Pot
Soda Stream
Lava lamp
TV
Lava lamp no 2
Bread machine
Radio
Bean to cup machine

I use all of them, maybe once a week in a slow week for the bread machine, Chef and Instant pot, but there's plenty of room for them to be out and I probably wouldn't use them if they weren't.

It doesn't look particularly cluttered to my eye and I use them so 🤷🏻‍♀️.

LoveFall · 29/12/2021 17:10

Toaster, kettle, DH's teapot, coffee maker, mini chopper, air fryer toaster oven thing. All used pretty much daily.

Oh and electric can opener as both DH and I have arthritis in our hands.

We also keep our bread maker on the raised bit of counter above the peninsula as we use it a couple of times a week and it is very heavy to put away.

ErrolTheDragon · 29/12/2021 17:11

How's that going to work without the heat and steam ruining it?Confused
Christinayangtwistedsister · 29/12/2021 17:20

None, I hate clutter
