Fledglings Soar Calmly into September - the FlyLady Thread

Calling all fledglings, newbies and lurkers to the September FlyLady thread! Join us as we try to sometimes rather loosely follow FlyLady’s routines to steer us gradually towards clean and tidy homes and organised lives, with lots of nattering and support along the way.

The more the merrier, so please feel welcome to join. I’ll post daily links to try to keep us on track, and I’ll explain the system as we go if we have any newbies. If there’s anything you’re not sure about please ask. The website is here but be wary of signing up to the emails. There are lots.

Thanks to our lovely Sing for keeping us flapping through August, you did a grand job.

The naughty corner is fully stocked for anyone needing a little respite. I am already keeping it warm for everyone today and I’m not even sorry

Remember, you are never behind, just jump in where you are. Let’s do this Fledglings!

I can’t believe it’s almost midday either! 😳 Just argh! Caglets are just turning the TV off and then it’s work time. Had to put the dryer back on for a bit so the next LOL will have to wait. I’ve already forgotten what my third task was 😳

GoingGoingGoth · 13/09/2021 11:35

Seconded THAT it's one of those running to stay in the same place days.

Had a quick flick through the thread to try and catch up,
Your hair looks amazing Badger,
MC I find (D)H occasionally needs reminding just how much I do around the house plus paid work. I'm sure he thinks we have brownies come round to keep the house tidy.
Fiddler

I am shattered today, Teen had a house full of friends over yesterday (first time since we moved) and I'm not used to that amount of people anymore
They're a good bunch, polite settled down in the dining room to play games and it was great hearing them laughing but it was a late night for us on a Sunday, so I've told her it must be Saturdays from now on or a much earlier finish.

Done
S&S
Fed cat
Laundry on & hung out
Fed birds
Let cat in and out about 10 times (he's now waiting to come in again so I'm hiding out of sight)
Teen to school then small shop
Rubbish out
Did me a "proper" breakfast in the hope of energy
Washing up
Vacuum

To do
Yesterday's ironing
Mop floors
Windows
Today's mission
Some work admin
Post run & collect Teen
Dinner
Washing up
Make lemon curd

Have you rebooked that scan or just cancelled out right? Blood clots are not something to be messed about with.

Tried to have appointment with specialist, but apparently there is a problem on the line. Probably a good thing as I am not a happy bunny.

Not going away. About to kill someone here, do we have space under the communal patio? Tired grumpy and not impressed with the idiot peoples who told me it wasn't up to me to organise everything. They were told firmly but it is my job to tidy it up. them wanting the house not hoard like for in 6 weeks time and are not putting things fucking away or keeping tidy!

StillUpholding · 13/09/2021 12:17

I haven’t managed to catch up yet but just swanning in late with links and I’ll swan back off til later.

Welcome to zone 3 (bathroom and one other room). Mission is to wipe around the loo, and to do some decluttering in a ‘stash and dash’ area. I have many of those, but the utility was the worst and I am hereby awarding myself a Star for doing it yesterday. Home bleurgh for those of you up for it (not me, I’m at work) and launchpad link if you feel the urge

Hi Everyone! I'm not just rolling out of bed, honest. I've been up since five.

Dad's:
Changed duvet cover etc and five pillowcases (no need to strip whole bed - woohoo)
Plugged in his personal alarm to charge
Put everything to wash
Emptied dryer and put away last lot of yesterday's washing
Had two raisin toast because I hadn't had breakfast
Checked dad's cupboard and fridge for what he needed then went to supermarket while washer on
Put stuff away, with extra labels
Moved washing to dryer
Washed up
Made two brews, one with cake, one with biscuits and a single plain black tea for me
Rang (yet another) gardener to give a price on hedge trimming (fifth one, I think. Maybe sixth.)
Everything was looking good so I left him to it. Going back tomorrow at 10.30.

Me:
Felt diabetic hypo, shaky and dizzy in supermarket. Drank a can of cold coffee and ate small carby items, and waited, to put myself right before driving back.
Later went out for sensible breakfast because I didn't think I'd stand up long enough to cook it myself. Dd chanced to phone whilst I breakfasted, which was very time-efficient. Babysitting duty booked for Wednesday.

Mine before going to dad's :
Put some washing away, folded up airers etc
Washed my hair, and me.
Dressed in one of my many favourite outfits (most of them are exactly the same)

Home about 12. Having a rest before finding things to do here.

halfhope · 13/09/2021 12:46

Oh sing you're going to have to stop hanging out with Gwyneth on Goop! She's probably more polished than Brian from Hull and I am reluctant to break up a female friendship but I need to save you.

halfhope · 13/09/2021 12:47

That cow could compete in dressage 🤣

DoesHePlayTheFiddle · 13/09/2021 12:51

Taking a refresher course on FlyLady.
Zone 3 is a great place for me to start, so that's lucky. Bathroom and Bedroom 3, I think.
Have made my list. Going to rest before I start. [Smile]

halfhope · 13/09/2021 12:52

Eibhlin the Highland cow gets a helping hand to look her best ahead of this year’s Royal Highland Show, which runs from 19-22 June at Ingliston, near Edinburgh.

Cattle had their hair curled and blow dried by staff from Cheynes Hairdressing in Princes Street Gardens yesterday.

DoesHePlayTheFiddle · 13/09/2021 12:52

Should be a Grin

halfhope · 13/09/2021 12:53

TheHoneyBadger · 13/09/2021 18:27

Ta da! No one’s dead.

Stayed late at work so I didn’t have to bring any home. Forgot to hang out washing this morning so I’ve done that and now need to cook dinner and get the rubbish out and tidy the kitchen as I‘forgot’ to do that too.

Shopping is coming then giving blood tomorrow with quite a walk there and back and I’m usually a bit knackered afterwards so don’t think I’ll be ver productive tomorrow otherwise I’d put off the kitchen mess.

Amused by willow’s pun and had a good browse of cow paintings. I ❤️ 🐄

HillsBesideTheSea · 13/09/2021 18:36

ta da
swore a lot
told the people to get a grip - multiple times
swore some more
killed a load of bugs
moved lots of stuff
threw chocolate at teen
tried to loose hearts to the owl but somehow ended up with more then I started still a snooty toad though
did some laundry
hoovered some stuff
empty some bins
currently cooking tea
done some and need to do some more washing up
got warning of impending drama on return to office. - will be late finishing this week as result
did not need the communal patio but did lms
swore at the sodding internet and phone that has been playing up all day
Arrange for some stuffs to leave the house
tidied a quarter of the chest freezer - only 1 quarter to go (yay!)

Currently considering taking a long walk. Or just going to sit in the car somewhere to think and make a list and get planning day out of the way

merryhouse · 13/09/2021 20:22

TaDa
tea, coffee, breakfast, dressed
emptied bedroom and bathroom bin
wiped dust off various parts of bathroom while I was there
put these and kitchen bin bag in wheelie bin
replaced bags
got lunch stuff out of freezer - realised nearly out of sandwich bread
took sausages out of freezer
chopped and froze half a box of mushrooms
made shopping list
arrived at meeting well on time
took practically legible notes for minutes - HT will type them up so don't need to do that thankfully
tesco on way back
including taking the soft plastic (much easier now it's at the entrance instead of all the way down at the bottom of the tills)
found a drastically-reduced sandwich loaf, how serendipitous
picked and washed lettuce
made lunch
realised should have picked over tomatoes before going shopping; charged H with getting some on his way back from haircut
seized opportunity of H's absence to hoover hall and lounge (dread to think when it was last done)
peeled dying tomatoes and froze in little batches
washed up
ironed three karate outfits and a few other bits
burnt self on edge of iron while reaching up to take something off line
put away ironed things
made coffee
made dinner (toad, carrots, reduced broccoli) and did some puzzles
waved H and S1 off to karate
prepared tomorrow's oats
took hearts out of freezer
walked to church for Standing Committee meeting
discovered that meeting has been rescheduled for Thursday afternoon ffs have my emails been hiding AGAIN
walked back home
washed up

Not too bothered tbh - didn't feel ready for another meeting today and my little iron burn is in just the right place to be in danger of being rubbed if karate gets the slightest bit interesting Grin

ToDo
put karate suits in washing machine on timer

ToMorrow
hang washing
exercise class (it was Steve's birthday today so we rescheduled)
finish the ironing
make stuffing, stuff hearts and put in slow cooker
get H to dig more carrots
(?get H to) pick chard
and given today - sort out some more emails!

DoesHePlayTheFiddle · 13/09/2021 21:13

Goodnight, people, sleep well.
