Action Stations for August! Fledglings Flap Frantically and Swish’n’Swipe through Summer

Welcome one and all!

I’m quickly setting up the August thread (ok seriously I know someone says this every month but HOW is it August already?!) - MN has been a bit iffy today, and I got rather distracted this evening which I fear may be a portent of my hosting skills this month. Thank you to the lovely ED for steering us through July despite much to manage at home 💐

Anyway - do join in as we loosely follow the Flylady system, in order to gradually sort our houses out. The key word here is GRADUALLY. There is no turning the house upside down and banishing chaos overnight, there is slow and steady. You are never behind. Miss a day? Week? Decade? No worries, jump back in, it’ll all come round again.

Newbies always welcome!

hills great news re results. Glad you got the vaccine and hope you feel better.

Very exciting about wedding zoo - do enjoy!

Having tea now while ds has been taken swimming. Quick tidy then a walk.

HazelNuttyElf · 27/08/2021 17:58

Sorry, I just saw I cross posted a few of you. Enjoy the wedding tomorrow zoo and try to relax tonight, don't let DD2 bring you down.

TheHoneyBadger · 27/08/2021 18:50

Elf can you bribe or pay someone else to do the shed? You must be knackered with working hours like that.

Zoo your kids sound really challenging with their various issues. Sad that you miss out on full wedding experience.

Willow rest as much as you can for vaccine recovery.

I’ve run out of steam. Fell asleep earlier and am just zombie ish. I have some kind of sinus issues going on and a nose full of painful sores.

Attention everyone‼️I have finished decluttering!. DH dropped the bags of clothes to Ddad’s house for my sisters to have and they’re chuffed with it. I’m 23 and they’re only 12 and 9 but they can fit in my clothes because I’m so small😂. Dsis1 is almost as tall as me☹️. I’ve sorted the DC’s clothes into ages and vacuum bagged them for future use. DM took the boys out and got some clothes for DS1 going to pre school so whilst they were out I got a bin bag and got rid of everything from my junk drawer. I have made a promise to keep it that way but I know I won’t🙄.
I’ve started our Christmas list, I’m hoping to get most things prepared by my due date so I don’t have to stress when minibus🚌comes along💖.
zoo bloody hell you’ve done loads I’m exhausted just reading that. Well done you❤️. It sounds like a lovely night! My parents are divorced but my wedding (and the birth of their GC) really brought them back together. I bet you’re so excited!🥳
that I hope the tummy ache eases soon💐
hills well done on your results🎉

SingToTheSky · 27/08/2021 21:56

Argh. Knackered and ugh. Oh well had a productive afternoon before I felt rubbish.

Also have some thinking to do before Monday - found out I can’t start my preferred OU course in October, so I now need to decide whether to start a less interesting course in February, or wait a whole year to do the one I was more keen on. I am leaning towards the former. I have done a very similar course to this before, just too long ago to count in my modules. And I did well on it, so no reason I shouldn’t again - arguably I could do better on it this time and find it more interesting now that I have 14 more years of life experience behind me. Besides it’s level 1 which means I only need to pass, really, rather than needing to worry about getting a high mark to count towards my final degree grade if that makes sense.

Oh well. Entirely my fault that I’m having to make this decision, I let my anxiety get in the way of getting stuff done on time. So annoyed at myself but I need to be pragmatic and make the best of it. Will need to phone them on Monday. Aaaargh

honey I would get someone else to do it, but I actually love painting so I want to do it, plus I'm a perfectionist so best if I just do it. I'm going to do 2 different colours so the edges have to be perfect 🥰 I'm just not looking forward to getting on the ladder and the aches that'll come with that. My back is already killing me this week 😩
I have 45 minutes until I go home for the weekend, should go by quick

Mc3209 · 28/08/2021 05:07

Who's awake? 😬

Zoo you have a fab time today, lovely. Don't let anyone spoil your day!
Willow how long do they say u til your foot heals?
Hazel that's a long day. Hope the painting goes well.

Ive been doing well with flying lately, I think the app is helping. I love ticking things off a list, so I customised her lists on there and have been ticking away 😂

Stilllivinginazoo · 28/08/2021 05:24

MC I'm up! Been awake since 220....
Lil zoo hit with a bomv last night- didn't pack pants as (wrongly) assumed "loads" geret.obly has one tight pair white drawers so emergency trip to Morrisons it is then in a hour,as sunshine's at all they will be reflecting thru navy dress....

Stilllivinginazoo · 28/08/2021 05:26

How did that change to gibberish?
*Bomb last night
*Loads here
*Only has one tight pair

Mc3209 · 28/08/2021 05:34

Zoo may the last minute white pants hunt be successful! There is always last minute run around with weddings, isn't there.
Are you looking forward to it? The wedding itself, not the run around ☺️

Stilllivinginazoo · 28/08/2021 05:41

We need dark pants, keep everything crossed!!
Excited but anxious, esp as only time I've been in a room with 70+ people since covid started.

Must get up and put some clothes on My hairs still damp and in a top knot bunas want soft waves so be ram it in coat hood to venture out🤣

Mc3209 · 28/08/2021 05:49

Go dark pants!
I think you will lovely in your dress, those shoes, and loose waves.

ExtremelyDisorganised · 28/08/2021 08:05

Hope the pants hunt is successful Zoo. I'm a big fan of the loose bun to loose waves technique too. Fingers crossed everything else runs smoothly for you and the family today Flowers

THATmamaofMANY · 28/08/2021 08:14

Hope all goes well today zoo and you all have a lovely day (and lilzoo behaves!)

IWillWashTheGreenWillow · 28/08/2021 09:04

Hope you find the pants zoo and your hair does what you want! Trust you will enjoy the wedding and DD1 ends the day deliriously happy and safely wed at last🥂🍾. She must have felt it was going to be put off for ever!

Mc I will be on crutches with limited mobility until they take the wire out of my toe on 15th September. Right now, I still have stitches and the damn things pull if I stretch too far. Really pleased to hear the app is working for you, who doesn't love a tick list?

Sounds like a very productive day, Goth. Glad the classes went well this time.

Sing really sorry to hear the OU has to be put off a year. Perhaps that will give you time for Cagletini to be almost five, so it will be better, actually?

Hazel I love painting too and am itching to get at my DM's shed which we have agreed to paint in blue and white stripes, like a beach hut. Don't overdo it working too much though.

Flowerbus hurrah for decluttering! Hope you can prep in time for Minibus. DD's birthday is the first week of December and the year she was born I was on top of Christmas in good time. I was horror-struck the following year when I realised I was going to have to do that every year from then on!

Right. Saturday. Don't know what to do at all. More tea, I think.

SingToTheSky · 28/08/2021 10:31

💖💖💖💖💖

It’s Saturday but most importantly HAPPY WEDDING DAY TO ZOO’S DD1!!! 🎉🎈🎊👩‍❤️‍👨💍🥂🍾

So, family fun day. Or possibly scrabble round getting everything ready for the last week of the holidays day?

FLIGHTPLAN

No missions, but it is our last day in Zone 4, the master bedroom. Tomorrow we move into the living room!

Haven’t caught up with the thread and I’m dashing to head out for the day, but just wanted to say hope you all have a fabulous day Zoo, and congratulations to the happy couple FlowersCakeWine

SingToTheSky · 28/08/2021 10:39

S’Ok willow I reckon if I can put up with the course I wasn’t particularly bothered about I can start in Feb. It’s a shame to miss out on the other one (it’s either one or t’other as your first course) but TBH the overall degree is the main thing. And it’s only 7 months, then due to the timings I should be able to go straight onto the second level 1 course. I think another year of waiting would be too difficult especially as I would then have to wait to reapply and get a decision about whether they’d let me or not (because I dropped out before when I was ill). Overall I think just cracking on will be better for me.

I felt all scratchy of throat last night and it’s not got better this morning. So I’m glad I did manage a bit of sorting yesterday.

Fml ordering last school bits from matalan. Website crashed at checkout THREE TIMES and emptied my basket each time Angry

TheHoneyBadger · 28/08/2021 11:36

Grrrr That - so annoying.

Zoo Hope all goes well.

I've:
-tidied the kitchen (which should have been perfect but ds obviously did some late night cooking)
-emptied dw
-started moving bits of furniture in the living room to sort of clear a path for the items that really do need moving (grossed myself out with the mess under armchair - dust bunnies and cheerios predominantly)
-fitted the stairgate to the kitchen door - plan is to try the dog without his crate and instead let him have the kitchen. Will see if he is happy or seems insecure with that arrangement - he actually likes his crate but it takes up a lot of room in the lounge

I then sort of gave up and came back to bed and watched stuff and now need to get myself moving again.

-sort and put on a lol
-clear and clean the space where the armchair was and the tv and big heavy piece of furniture it sits on is moving to
-move said tv and furniture into new spot and see how it looks

TheHoneyBadger · 28/08/2021 11:40

The dog obviously doesn't permanently live in his crate - he goes in overnight, to eat (raw food that I don't want dragged around the house because salmonella etc) and if I have to leave him for a long period in the day. I'm not cruel honestly. He's a tiny chihuahua and the crate is huge for him. Would like to have the floor space back if he's happy with the kitchen for those times instead.

I bought a new sofa - holidays are dangerous, way too much time for browsing online and spending money you probably shouldn't. Still it cost less than the flights that got cancelled so still winning I guess.

Redsquirrel5 · 28/08/2021 14:31

Hi,
Hope the day goes well Zoo proud moment for you

It was DS3 and BF birthday yesterday. Didn’t see DS3 as when we went around he must have been asleep, wish I had gone earlier as his BF ( my BF’s DS3) had gone around before his DM party. All family her sister’s, 3 sons, 2 DILs and all the grandchildren and us. It was lovely we had a massive long table and right next to soft play area so they could run back and forth. The kids were hilarious and very excited.

So not much done yesterday and lethargic today.
I have made the bed.
vacuumed my room.
Vacuumed hall
Vacuumed kitchen, dining room and sitting room.
Washed bathroom floor. Didn’t move things just wiped over the rest.

Watching lots of the para Olympics great for ungrateful teens I think. Makes you feel quite humble. Amazing World Records being broken left, right and centre.
Gold for the team swimming, dressage heading for gold so far and lots of fantastic efforts in the athletics. 100m men’s and women’s!

Going to do some gardening now as weather up her still fantastic. Would like to go down the Lakes but it is too busy.

Willow take it easy let them run around after you.
Declutter a drawer if you are desperate but I advise watching the Para Olympics.

For the insomniacs it is on from about 3am😁🤣

Hope everyone has a good day.

MogTheSleepyCat · 28/08/2021 15:39

Hope you are having a fab time today Zoo

Honey I could be wrong but I thought Chihuahuas were quite an anxious breed, so sticking with a crate might be best. We have two Frenchies who love their crate (they are still very young though and can be destrictive so we don't leave them to roam, even just in the kitchen, whilst we're out).

Ta Da
Sorted all recycling and discovered I have a work top underneath...
Emptied and reloaded DW
Decluttered all the bits of paper on the front of the fridge
Cleared dining room table hotspot
Completed lots of forms for my new job next month
Checked on the chickens and collected eggs
Cleaned up after the dogs in the garden
Made bed.
Collected big sack of preloved uniform for DS from another school Mum

Need to fold and put aways loads of clean washing, and get some more in the machine

Happy Bank Holiday Weekend all!

SingToTheSky · 28/08/2021 15:41
