Welcome one and all!

I’m quickly setting up the August thread (ok seriously I know someone says this every month but HOW is it August already?!) - MN has been a bit iffy today, and I got rather distracted this evening which I fear may be a portent of my hosting skills this month. Thank you to the lovely ED for steering us through July despite much to manage at home 💐

Anyway - do join in as we loosely follow the Flylady system, in order to gradually sort our houses out. The key word here is GRADUALLY. There is no turning the house upside down and banishing chaos overnight, there is slow and steady. You are never behind. Miss a day? Week? Decade? No worries, jump back in, it’ll all come round again.

Well I have up since 3 am...brain decided to play Hawaii O five theme tune- on repeat as I dreamt of solving crimes with the five-O. (This is the best dreams i have had recently 😂.)

Zoo- its true, my two get along well and love similar things. I think I will get a popcorn maker. It sounds good.
Its lovely to hear, that when your dd went for a jab they took extra time to look after her.

Honey - what probiotics do you take pls? I think gut health is so important.

Hazel- oops - that should read Chard pancakes. My uncle grows lots of different things, rainbow chard, curly kale and normal beautiful greeen chard. He kindly gave me a mixed bunch this week.
I used the chard blended into the pancake batter. I have before put a small leaf of curly kale in there too. The kids could taste it and refused to eat it. I couldnt taste it and i liked it. Chard is so much sweeter and tender than baby spinach in the the pancakes. I have designed a lovely recipe if you would like it? I make them as giant soft green, crepes pancakes.
Hazel- i love your teddy bears picnic birthday idea! What a lovely memory that would be!

Mc- I organised a very large birthday party. I wish I didnt now as Ds was sick of having his photo taken. Wish I had done something small.

Re food we are hit and miss here. Sometimes we have weeks which involve a lot of convienience foods. I am trying to get into a habit of all eating together in an evening atleast half of the week as we often end up eating later than the DC. Its more cost / time / dishwasher efficient if we all eat the same thing together. Managed this on Sunday and Monday this week but not yesterday.

Need to place order with school uniform shop today. Not too bad this year will be about £50. Both the big two are fine with current blazer thank fully.

that blazers and PE kit are a nightmare for sucking up money,so that's good all fits!

Morning! I started writing a post last night but fell asleep, so apologies as I’ll have missed some personals.

Mc we did a family tea party with cake for DD the weekend after her birthday, and on the day itself the 3 of us went to the zoo. It’s true it was more for us at that age and she can’t remember it, but she did enjoy the animals and all of the attention. We took lots of photos and she loves looking at them.

Welcome back Mog. I’m another one in the same boat with food. Im the biggest I’ve ever been and can’t blame it all on bump. DH is trying to keep us well fed but I’ve got no energy to sort anything when he’s not around, and I’m spending a small fortune on crap canteen food at work because I can’t motivate myself to prepare anything. Pregnancy nausea hasn’t let up and eating is the only thing that seems to help. Had a bit of a shock on the scales this morning so going to have to give myself a shake. So yeah, you are not alone!

Sing I can probably do September as I have some time off. There may well be some shoddy leadership however so if anyone else wants to that’s fine with me

Totally forgot what else I read last night so 👋 to the rest of you lovely lot.

The house has stayed under control this week, and DH actually did the home bleurgh on Sunday while I was out. Unasked. I know, I’ve only just about got over it myself. I’ve fed myself and DD with some crap chocolate cereal. Going to get us dressed, make beds, s&s, do the dishes, hang out the washing and then take DD to the library.

Oh and sorry, welcome Goth. Don’t think I was around when you last posted but lovely to have you with us.

Up if you don’t mind that would be fab! I don’t think any of us are too bothered about having mega detailed links? I think we usually have some more newbies in September for the new academic year but I’m sure we can all help with info when needed.

Let’s face it a lot of us know the system inside out by now even if we don’t actually follow it 😳🤣

I’m just having my usual sit down on a wall (I could probably pass for Humpty Dumpty right now tbf) before my maths lesson - left even earlier today as so achy and wanted to walk slower.

So so much to do - more practical stuff than anxiety-inducing admin, so that’s good, but we are all knackered and DH’s pain is bad as well, so I’m not sure how much we will actually get done in the next couple of days. I’ll dig out the list when I get in, but he also needs to take DD1 into town for a couple of errands including making her actually choose her glasses. If she doesn’t soon we might just have to insist she gets the same ones again (she says she doesn’t like them and they’re broken anyway, so she needs a replacement! Personally I think they look wonderful on her).

Also we’ve totally lost momentum on the bathroom, as it’s totally functional and it’s just a few details that need doing. But also the loo seat keeps slipping. It happened with the old one so I think it’s the loo itself, no idea what to do about that.

I'm counting my cleaning out of the utility room yesterday as my 27 fling boogie.

Had a new tumble drier delivered yesterday as it turns out swearing at it doesn't fix the circuit board, what started as a "I'll tidy this bit" ended up with the whole room being reorganised.
Very cathartic if not really following FL principles.

That seems fair goth! TBH much as I don’t do many big clear outs, I don’t see them as “against” flylady exactly. More that you don’t need to do them to succeed. If there are days when you can and want to do more than 15 minutes and you’re on a roll, it would be silly to stop.

Phew I’m home after a slow amble including a quick stop at Tesco and some Pokémon hunting :o DH currently on the phone then I guess we will decide what to do today. Lesson was absolutely lovely 🥰

That lil zoo arrives Friday morning(DD is at venue after that with dad's gf,mil to be and sil to be blowing up balloons etc.shes going wedding from our house.we are doing ceremony and photos and coming home she's staying for food and evening partydd2 heads home Sunday morning and has first night married in own bed before head up to Cotswolds for 5days in a treehouse on edge farm/beautiful village in middle no where.doggo will love it!lil zoo returns to dd1 on the saturday

Up hurrah for DH and the home bleugh. Sorry the nausea hasn't abated and thanks for offering to do September.

Mc we did a family afternoon with cake for DS1's birthday; DS2 had a couple of baby-group friends round (partly to give DS1 people to play with) for a picnic in the living room, and someone brought us a vomiting bug as a gift, so that was nice. Can't remember what we did for DD and DS3, just family in shifts and cake I think.

Sing glad you had a good lesson and got some Pokemon go in, take care of your aches and pains. Sorry DD1 doesn't like her glasses and has managed to break them.

zoo sorry you are exhausted already. Sounds like the wedding is well in hand and Lil zoo is going to have to suck up being at yours for a bit. Maybe she will realised it's not so very bad to live with someone who loves her deeply and has her best interests at heart, even if that means she doesn't always get her own way (bloody teens) 🤞.

Flowerbus I love your living room! I see what you mean about needing space, but I think it looks cosy enough as you have it; and if you really want super-cosy in the winter you could pull the sofa forwards and have space behind it, the reverse of option A on your diagram.

Dancing you'd have laughed yourself silly at me trying to get out of the bath. Couldn't put weight on my right foot, and the air in the LimbO bag made it float anyway. Couldn't get my left foot under me to lever myself up, it kept slipping despite non-slip dots in the bath. DH couldn't heave me out. Had visions of having to call the first brigade and ending up in the local rag as "fat woman stuck in bath"! In the end, we let all the water out and I turned to my left, onto my left knee then stood up from there onto my left foot. What an utter faff. No more baths for the foreseable!

ED sorry you are kitchen-free temporarily again, but it will be worth it in the end.

MC we had low key tea party with my sisters. They were about 13, 11:5, 9 and we just had a big one iced in pale blue icing.

Zoo exciting so close now. I am sure you will look lovely in your dress. Hope you have a wonderful time.

Willow glad you figured a way out. Fireman would have been embarrassing. 👨‍🚒 👨‍🚒👨‍🚒👨‍🚒👨‍🚒 🚒 we only have a large shower here. I can remember being stuck once when I was very pregnant and realised that is why Maternity ward baths all have bars to help you get out!

🌻you room is lovely and more room to play is a bonus in winter.

We have a small sitting room and it has two doorways and a window and then the inglenook so no chance to move sofa. We did have two sofas once on opposite sides. Other changes are just swapping furniture around. Up and downstairs which DH is not happy about.

Well it is gloriously hot and I have done minimal flying for two days. Cleaned bathroom and made bed not much else because I reckon we won’t be getting more of this for 9 months. I have pottered in the garden and picked fruit and veg. Lots of tomatoes most seem to be cherry ones. I have also been reading my book. Finished and don’t seem to have the next one🤬

I was woken by two men, well one was a boy making a lot of noise outside my window at 7:30am then pacing up and down as they phoned someone. We now have a new bin. DH said he didn’t order it but have a vague feeling someone told me the bin lorry ate theirs so going to walk up to see BF and see if it is theirs. They live up a private longing and the bin men won’t go up there because they say it is too narrow. The milk tanker goes up every day!

Will pop back later. I am in skirt and sleeveless top. That shows you how warm it is. 34 in greenhouse at 10:30am😂

Aaaagh shattered and unmotivated. Oh well at least DH got the errands done in town. Have sent him for a lie down as he’s in so much pain the poor sod. So:

This afternoon was a DISASTER
Sec dd1 fiance left (not even drove off) lil zoo gran dd2 buscopan complaining raging tummyache
Still happy to go Costa and park.didnt want order own drink(dd2 asked me to order hers so she then said can you get me a salted caramel frostino,no cream).I query if that's got milk in.yes,but I've had it before with dd1 and I like it/was fine. In ordered it,we went park.she totally blanked dd2 cept for photos on phone.ds got talked to if n when she wanted to,didn't talk to me more than couple words when try make conversation.she was bending double as we sat with their drinks,and again after a go on swings.i ask what wanted do(go back to ours for painkillers/hot water bottle,be picked up,try another piece equipment,sir quietly for a bit,slow walk etc) she just said dunno,so I asked how we could help.i have money,cam I have mints?I said sure.slow walk to nearby asda.i said are you coming in or sit wall.sit wall with D's.dd2 and I went in.sec in shop she said you know she will be already on phone to dd1 fiance come for her.i sighed and said I know.we didn't hurry,pick up a few bits(took about 10 mins).awkward silence as we came out,before say he be here in mo.and off she went...
DS and DD are upset and withdrawn and dreading a week of her here.no one was mean,unfriendly etc she was blanking us all,hostile etc from the off.waiting for dd1 ring me as I said we deffo need to talk(last day of work she had couple bits to wrap up before wedding)
DS was saying why doesn't she like us anymore mumma?(asked for hug then sadly went upstairs to comfort of PS4.dd2 went room,loud music and form leave me alone on eat upstairs indicating tears were imminent

willow that's awful behaviour of so-called friends, I would be horrified if I found out one of my DC was doing that. Can you talk to the parents at all? If course, that might make the situation worse, which you wouldn't want 🤔 that's a hard one. Hopefully DD is OK?

Oh zoo i am feeling quite cross over her treatment of you! Part of me wonders if she is somehow enjoying a) the drama of it all or b) making others (you / ds / dd2) feel crap. I have little teen experience though. I just don't get why this ever had to start!

Thanks Hazel glad it's not just me who would be properly furious with a child behaving like so. It's a bit silly really, the worst thing I can think to say about these girls is that they are rude bullies, it makes me sound like a Georgian governess. Naturally, the friend who behaved so badly yesterday called for DD today and she hung on her every word 😢.

Zoo I'm so sorry Lilzoo is being such an unpleasant little madam. Sending 💐 and 💪.

I've just been for my foot review with the consultant and all is healing well and as expected. I disgraced myself, though, by going faint and having to have the nurse fetched as I wobbled gently over. I got far enough into it that my mouth wouldn't work to say "I feel funny", so they took my blood pressure. Text book normal, apparently, which is a bit high for me, and I went back to the waiting room in a wheelchair .

So I am retiring for the night at this point. It seems safest all round!

Glad you’ve got your tuesdays back and have had a bit of well deserved downtime Hazel.

Very productive on the utility room front Goth. Our TD is out of action but I think is repairable, but it all needs a good sort out and clean in there before I can allow anyone in to look at it.

No problem to do September Sing but you might need to give me a nudge to remind me. Hope Mr Sing feels better soon.

📚 did some financial planning for a potential change in DH’s job (we’ve agreed to put my longed for extension on hold for another few years as the money will be required next year. I am sad, but I have allocated some of the extension savings for some redecorating and new furniture in the meantime)
📚 spent an hour perusing said furniture and redecorating ideas with a cuppa while DD went for a walk with my DF
📚 started to look at home insurance renewal and rapidly lost the will to live, and have been useless ever since.

Up re weight, I'd say step away from the scales. I put on over 4 stone 😱 during pregnancy, but I've been in my pre-pregnancy weight for about a month now (without any major sacrifices). Impressive ta das!
Willow I'm sorry Dad's "friends" are being such bullies. Sounds like you are doing everything you can to equip your DD to deal with them. Glad your foot is healing nicely, and I hope you feel better and have a good rest after your wobble.

Teenagers can be such a nightmare Zoo hang on in there, you do get a reasonable human being at the end of it. We're at the stage when hormonal bitch queen only turns up when she's really stressed over something.

Yes Mc I should do that. I’ve gone up a stone and a half already, but I was heavier pre-pregnancy this time round and I’m edging close to a high enough BMI to warrant GD testing at 28 weeks. The weight dropped off me no problem last time and I got to my dream weight. Stayed there around a year and a half and then unfortunately forgot to stop eating so much cake when I stopped breastfeeding . Lesson learnt for this time!
