Action Stations for August! Fledglings Flap Frantically and Swish’n’Swipe through Summer

Welcome one and all!

I’m quickly setting up the August thread (ok seriously I know someone says this every month but HOW is it August already?!) - MN has been a bit iffy today, and I got rather distracted this evening which I fear may be a portent of my hosting skills this month. Thank you to the lovely ED for steering us through July despite much to manage at home 💐

Anyway - do join in as we loosely follow the Flylady system, in order to gradually sort our houses out. The key word here is GRADUALLY. There is no turning the house upside down and banishing chaos overnight, there is slow and steady. You are never behind. Miss a day? Week? Decade? No worries, jump back in, it’ll all come round again.

Newbies always welcome!

ED missed you going past. If it was continually raining then you were near us. You can actually see a bit of our village from the M6 but not our house. Have you got your hottie switched on so it is lovely and cosy when you get back home.

Honey just have a catch up when you can, we have two new fledglings.

Zoo🤬on your behalf.

I have been ironing Mt. Washmore. Just got sheets to do.
Vacuumed through downstairs.
S&S

Doesn’t look too bad. Need to do the charity basket I didn’t get that done.i did go to sleep until after 3am. Kept worrying about mice. Didn’t have any visitors by the looks of things and I ended up falling back asleep at 8am while thinking about getting up. Made pancakes, bacon and maple syrup for brunch.

Hope everyone has had a good day.

po3.4
❗️Play games with DS
❗️Get DD1 to put her clothes away and choose what needs ordering (underwear etc)
❗️Update rolling to do list on phone

Red there was continual rain from Loch Lomond to Oxfordshire so that doesn't narrow it down much! Hottie was on very low while we were away, kitchen does feel cosy. I must admit I haven't fully got to grips with the controls yet. We got home about an hour ago, having spent a couple of hours at FIL's house en route.

SingToTheSky · 22/08/2021 00:57

Also DLMS with stroppy Cagletini (managed to disappear upstairs for a bit though the second time she threw an epic wobbly, as DH was home) and DLMS with the M&S website when the underwear I’d finally tracked down for DD1 (she is very particular because sensory) suddenly went out of stock while we looked for the other things we needed 😭😭😭

Torn between the desire for Sunday to be a proper day of rest, and the need to get on with more stuff including going to the shops to get this stuff.

But for now… sleep!

THATmamaofMANY · 22/08/2021 08:25

sing so funny about the milk 😄 Sunday is never a day of rest here, always too much to do

zoo fingers crossed dd2 can get a jab soon

up i need to go through our playdoh box, dc4 is not very good at putting the lids on so we probably have hard stuff too, argos also do quite a good set on 2 for £15

I've been busy trying to make sure we have everything for back to school, also gave utility room a good tidy so it now seems twice as big (had been struggling to open back door!) Blush

Today i MUST -
⚠️ measure dc 3 and 4 feet
⚠️ order shoes
⚠️ finish asda (food) order
⚠️ finish asda (clothes) order

Morning all! It’s Sunday and the links are a little late as I only just woke up 😳 try and renew your spirit today. Read, long bath, nice walk, whatever really!

tzm=-60 FLIGHTPLAN

No missions today, but we are moving into Zone 4 - the master bedroom today. Here on the thread we often refer to this as the boudoir, although I also like the alternative fledgling spelling of boodwa :o

Argh. So sleepy. What a rough night - after being up so late trying to sort stuff with DD1 (to answer your question zoo it doesn’t have to specifically be M&S but the similar ones in other places were already sold out!) she was then super anxious again and kept coming upstairs. She felt weird, kept thinking she saw stuff in the shadows etc :( she hasn’t slept in her own bed for weeks now :( I’m hoping that being tired out from school will help.

Anyway then Cagletini woke up too. Thankfully she went back to sleep quickly with me and yeah. We both slept till 10. 😳 Oh well clearly it was needed! My brain is too addled to come up with a power of three, so I’m just going to try and wake up properly and then talk to DH about what needs doing today vs what can wait.

StillUpholding · 22/08/2021 10:54

Morning. Late to rise here too, but I have… ordered a new dishwasher! Not arriving until September, but it’s done, and I managed to get a hefty nhs discount too Smile

Zoo I’m 20 weeks. I must admit I didn’t really want to let her play with it all when it was all nicely sorted Grin

Sing have you looked at H&M for underwear? I’ve never bought underwear from there but just bought some maternity bras and knickers and they had quite a good range and they all look super soft and comfy.

Right I must make a move and get showered. My work uniform needs hung up to dry and there is heat another load of dishes to tackle between me and DH. Off to a friend’s for a catch up this afternoon and should probably do a top up shop and some ironing.

SingToTheSky · 22/08/2021 12:18

She will only accept plain black now up (especially as they have to wear leggings a lot for dance etc) and they only seemed to have colourful multipacks 😭 bras need to be white only because of school shirts. But the ones she has now from asda don’t seem to exist anymore.

Can’t believe it’s gone twelve, I’ve done absolutely nothing 😳

po3.1
❗️Discuss and finalise plans for DS’ birthday
❗️Clean weekly board
❗️Add missing meds to box for the end of the week

OP posts:
SingToTheSky · 22/08/2021 13:30

po3.2
❗️Ring lazer tag people to check availability and double check prices
❗️Take beta blockers and painkillers as I’m an anxious achy mess this morning
❗️Write out friend’s book order so it’s easier to combine with mine

OP posts:
TheHoneyBadger · 22/08/2021 13:46

I’ve collected the bureau and chair from neighbour but done nothing about getting rid of my giant armchair so living room looks like a furniture warehouse.

Have been out and done errands and I’ve wiped the cooker and taken out rubbish and recycling.

Po3:
Fill meds
Rewash towels I forgot I’d washed and remember to get them out
Make sure to cook mussels and flatbread so they don’t end up out of date and wasted

Not very ambitious today.

Stilllivinginazoo · 22/08/2021 14:56

Black multi pack from Primark sing?
I have bad reflux, low mood and very bad anxiety on top achy joints and exhaustion
Fun times
Dad was supposed come, but decided was too tired to be bothered, but will play online with D's at 4...
Trailed Waitrose
Forgot important items
Trail co op
Lunch
Massive panic attack

I've done 2lol,on 3rd tho

Place tip
Cupboards need tidy in kitchen and scoutcats necks all gammy again,so if I can catch him later that needs cleaningSad

IWillWashTheGreenWillow · 22/08/2021 14:58

That sounds pretty ambitious to me Honey! Furniture acquired, errands run, recycling recycled, cooker cleaned, planning batch cooking and washing... There's a lot there.

As ever, I have nothing to report except some time downstairs yesterday - hooray! - and a bath today which proved far more faff than it was worth and has left me so exhausted I need a nap.

DH is emptying DS2's room so DS3 can take it over, so I am needed to sort all the random bedlinen which used to live under the bed. Apart from that, DH is doing sausage, egg, chips and beans for tea, DS3 is drumming and DD is at work.

THATmamaofMANY · 22/08/2021 15:31

sing newlook have some plain black packs in, i had pants from there recently and theyve been comfy

SingToTheSky · 22/08/2021 15:51

Yeah I think we will have to go into primark tbh zoo (sorry about the panic attack :( 💐) or see if the actual M&S store has better stock. She needs new sports leggings too still. And the bras. Oh dear god help. 😩

Oh well I’ve had some lovely piano time while DH took Cagletini out to the park. It’s a lot easier to play without headphones if I don’t have a 3yo trying to join in 🤣

He’s also got some quick easy food so everyone can sort their own dinner while he’s at the pub with DSS (football). I need to do some stuff really but it’s going to be a Tiny Task type afternoon I think.

po3.3
❗️Get DS to take recycling out and then fill his new hanging storage thingy with smaller teddies (he will probably have to move his taekwondo belts too)
❗️Start writing a to do list for next week (not my own Scary List but one that DH and I can work through together)
❗️Read for a bit

OP posts:
SingToTheSky · 22/08/2021 15:51

Posting a to do to achieve a tada...

To do
Clean kitchen cupboard with tins etc, rotating oldest dates to the front
Move food bought from dining table away into cupboards once tidied
Rearrange fridge
Sweep lower floor
Find dining table surface and scrub
Quick s+s bathroom

My dress has arrived!!!!

Bins,litter trays
Try catch scoutcat and sort out his neck...

Redsquirrel5 · 22/08/2021 17:13

I really like Sloggi pants. You can get packs of black. Has she tried those? If that’s a no I suggest going to an M&S and seeing if they have them, order them, get them from another store failing that give us the exact style, size and number and we check out our local stores.

That eventually you will have a quiet Sunday...in about 18 years😉

Ed we are near the border. Sorry it rained for so long. The Hottie is an ongoing learning curve. The FB sites are great for info and I love seeing everyone’s kitchens.

Willow bath and then a nap sounds an excellent way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Zoo I’ve forgotten what I was going to say, nap I think.

Redsquirrel5 · 22/08/2021 18:18

🤞🏻Zoo.

TheHoneyBadger · 22/08/2021 18:27

Thanks Willow.

Sing I only wear plain black cotton knickers for the most part - tesco is pretty good for multi packs with a lot of different choices (eg. mini, midi, brief, shorts etc). I wear a lot of simple stretchy crop top type bras that I buy off of ebay these days (despite being rather big chested) - they tend to have the option of black, flesh or white.

Well I did cook the mussels in white wine sauce and the garlic flatbread which was plenty for me but ds had a pile of spaghetti too so should be full up for about half an hour Hmm

Still forgotten the towels till I came back here - will go put them on now and make myself empty the dry clothes that have been on the wrack for days and fold and put them away. Then pills.

Stilllivinginazoo · 22/08/2021 18:38

Tada
Cupboards tidied/tins rotated to oldest at front
Fridge organised
Floors swept
S+s

Ta didn't
Scrub dining table
Quick all round clear up

I've totally hit a wall of tired and can't

Dress isn't as pink as I thought.looks a bit apricot to me,although kids see pink and in a photo is pink, but not as pink as pic on website...
Bit baggy at chest, but too long, but nothing I can do now.weddings Saturday,so just go have to suck it up and hope I grow to like it.kuds say it's pretty.maybe it's just I'm old,and model was young and firm and I just feel like frumpy old bag lady in it.heyho...

SingToTheSky · 22/08/2021 18:55

Ooh actually I could ask my friend to check when she goes to the big tesco for shopping (they don’t seem to do clothes online anymore?!). Thanks all. One way or another we will sort this 😂 I also realised the most recent ones I got her were from peacocks so I can check there too.

Anyway Cagletini is happily being introduced to the film Horton Hears a Who (nowhere near as good as the Lorax IMO, but oh well) and DH will be home soon. I have finished my book, yay!

po3.4
❗️Room rescue living room
❗️LOL
❗️Have another look for suitable undergarments.

Rock and roll weekend here. 🤣
