Welcome fledglings to May’s Flylady thread – many, many thanks to ED for her expert guidance through April 2021.

All are welcome and especially Newbies. Don’t be shy in making yourselves known because we are a friendly bunch.
We follow Flylady’s system for house and sanity maintenance which is based around 5 room zones spread over the month. There is a weekly quick home clean in the midst of more thorough zone cleaning. I am an aging fledgling who really should be more proactive about following the plan but to be frank I enjoy the natter and good company more than I enjoy cleaning. Every day I will be checking in and giving the ‘flight plan’ for the day with links to the Flylady site. You can join Flylady on her site for email updates but she does like to send a lot out, just so you know!
The most importantist thing to know is that you are NEVER behind – just do what you can when you can. Many of us post ta da lists as we cross items off our [never-ending] to do lists.
You may find the following acronyms along the way (adapted below from ED’s useful list from April)
LOL = load of laundry
S&S = swish and swipe, a quick daily clean of the toilet and sink
PO3 = power of 3. When motivation is on the low side or you’re overwhelmed just pick 3 things at a time and do them
DNLMS = did not lose my shit
Ned = our mythical mate who helps with the laundry
Pointy stick —-> = for when a fledgling needs a motivational prod
The naughty corner = a relaxing haven where we hang out when motivation is low or when life becomes overwhelming. Usually enticing food is left there with squishy cushions.
KCC – (Keep calm corner) these are little stories, photos, memes, off-topic questions, just to keep us all distracted from the general tedium of lockdown life. Feel free to chip in.

What is it with life/people always getting in the way and being so distracting!

Anyone know if i can put the black metal bits off the hob in the DW?

I’ve done it before That and it was fine. However, leaving them to soak in the sink overnight because I’d forgotten about them was not . Managed to scrub the rusty stuff off thankfully.

I’ve been wondering about that too that but my concern is that they’re really heavy and they might damage the drawer?! Obviously would only put them on the bottom one but still. Not sure.

Just finished the penultimate training session - but the last with the main trainer which is a bit sad as I don’t think we will ever get to meet her in person! It was such a great session though and it’s made me super excited to actually get started in the role, it’s feeling much more real now. 🥰

(I'm jealous of all your hobs I miss mine!! I've been using my plug in two ring hob for months now, new oven not arriving until June!)

Anti procrastination day today and I've actually ticked some things off the list!
Descaled the kettle
Cleaned my shoes
Took two bags of stuff to the charity shop
Returned some bits to the shops

However, still have not changed all the bed sheets 🤦‍♀️

DS schools currently offline as switch trust and they don't have passwords or license for teams under new name so "do a project" was advice when rang today
We walk local nature reserve with dd2 instead and saw a fox!DD took photos
Came home and went kitchen to wash hands and a hedgehog was drag but plastic about size sandwich bag along in its mouth.fit a nest perhaps?😍
Hammered it down lunchtime so I had oven chips and roasted squash with veggie sausages again.it feels really cold and I wanted comfort food!

Dd2 fancies asparagus and peppers,partbake rolls and cheese.im on board with that as I have a stray red onion that can be added!

Oh haha thank you for all being so welcoming I was nervous about joining such a long running thread haha. Sorry if this sounds silly but do I just jump into the missions etc from today or will I have missed out on important stuff from earlier in the week?

Thanks dancing yeah it deffo feels helpful to have it this way I’ve been tearing my hair out nesting and just feel like I’ve not done enough so now I can have a sort of checklist which might help🤞🏻

Cloud one of the best things about flylady is that there’s no such thing as falling behind. Just join in with the missions as they come up. Everything will come round again at some point anyway.

Lazy afternoon here, my chest has felt a bit better today but I’m so tired and headachy.

Welcome Cloud! Just jump in where you are, the beauty of Flylady is that you can't be behind, everything comes round again next week / month. 2 under 2 is fun, but exhausting and a constant parade of nappy changes, as many others on here will attest! My 2 under 2 are now 18 and 19 (goodness knows how that happened) but ships had 2 under 2 until a few weeks ago I think, and That are you about to have that again?

I've been off here so long I shall have to telescope the personals into what I can remember. Apologies in advance to anyone I miss.

Hills sorry the people are being thoughtless and peopley. Well done for not exploding. It's not fair that you should end up with toast - can anything be cooked and frozen so you can just shove it in the oven? I am completely converted to batch cooking and freezing in individual portions.

Cloud I have 18 month and 20 month gaps between my 3 youngest.(now in teens,like willow where did the time go!)
Don't be worried,it may be an organising,cleaning thread but doing naff all and chatting is our speciality!14th this month.be aware I get quite excited by new thread babies!!

What a bedtime tonight, there were tears and tantrums and not just from the children I LMS and predictability feel terrible about it now 😞

I feel like I'm just constantly rushing, rushing around and rushing the children around. I'm sure their behaviour is because they aren't getting enough attention.

Right I’m dumping my ta da list and then hitting the hay because I’m snoozy:

✅ fresh bedding on
✅ breakfast/lunch dishes washed
✅ benches and some cupboard fronts wiped
✅ tidied under sink cupboard
✅ shopping done and put away including quick wipe of the fridge
✅ LOL hung up and clean stuff put away
✅ living room tidied including taking down birthday cards and banner chuffing helium unicorn is still floating about though
✅ checked finances
✅ paid nursery bill
✅ made phone call
✅ deleted emails
✅ helped DD make a birthday card
✅ sorted and delivered 2 x birthday gifts
✅ made veg pasta bake for tea and eventually made the soup I’ve been planning for days weeks before the leeks turn to soup themselves
✅ collapsed in deep bath for 5 mins before DD joined me and the hair washing battle commenced.

The random hail showers stopped us playing in the garden but DD did do some cosmic kids yoga so I don’t feel too bad. We also played snakes and ladders and pairs multiple times.

Aw foxes :( sorry you’ve had a crappy evening. I’m sure all will be forgotten in the morning. This too shall pass. The kitchen upheaval won’t last forever and things will feel calmer 💐

Up great list! I read too fast again and thought your "chuffing helium unicorn" was a balloon that made a noise... I think I'd better go to bed 🤣.

Zoo fish is another flashpoint here. The only fish we all eat is tuna, and even then I have it dressed with black pepper and vinegar and everyone else has mayo 🤮. I have a brilliant keto fishcakes recipe that is basically pure fish and herbs bound with egg, with a little bit of coconut flour and flaxseed to thicken. DH eats fish only if there's cheese sauce or batter involved, or bouillabaisse, which I loathe. DD doesn't do hot fish at all. DS3 would live on fishfingers were it permitted. DS2 loves strong fish.

Right, I must go to sleep. DD has an interview for a bakery job tomorrow and is over-preparing in the manner of conscientious teens. Red, Hope, Mc, hope you are all warm and snug.

Thanks, have had a chat with dh and he's going to try and give the kids his undivided attention for a little while when he gets home from work before he starts work on the kitchen. And I'm going to try and do the same when I finish work / before I start on other things.

💥Blitz the hallway, front entrance and utility room. Threw away few magazines that started to build up, wiped all the surfaces with antibac incl light switches and handles.
💥Defrosted legs. 15 mins of pain (epilator) and I am good for few weeks. Very chuffed with that little gadget.
💥Braved a quick walk outside with McTiny in the sling. What's up with the weather, eh?
