Welcome fledglings to May’s Flylady thread – many, many thanks to ED for her expert guidance through April 2021.

All are welcome and especially Newbies. Don’t be shy in making yourselves known because we are a friendly bunch.
We follow Flylady’s system for house and sanity maintenance which is based around 5 room zones spread over the month. There is a weekly quick home clean in the midst of more thorough zone cleaning. I am an aging fledgling who really should be more proactive about following the plan but to be frank I enjoy the natter and good company more than I enjoy cleaning. Every day I will be checking in and giving the ‘flight plan’ for the day with links to the Flylady site. You can join Flylady on her site for email updates but she does like to send a lot out, just so you know!
The most importantist thing to know is that you are NEVER behind – just do what you can when you can. Many of us post ta da lists as we cross items off our [never-ending] to do lists.
You may find the following acronyms along the way (adapted below from ED’s useful list from April)
LOL = load of laundry
S&S = swish and swipe, a quick daily clean of the toilet and sink
PO3 = power of 3. When motivation is on the low side or you’re overwhelmed just pick 3 things at a time and do them
DNLMS = did not lose my shit
Ned = our mythical mate who helps with the laundry
Pointy stick —-> = for when a fledgling needs a motivational prod
The naughty corner = a relaxing haven where we hang out when motivation is low or when life becomes overwhelming. Usually enticing food is left there with squishy cushions.
KCC – (Keep calm corner) these are little stories, photos, memes, off-topic questions, just to keep us all distracted from the general tedium of lockdown life. Feel free to chip in.

Cloud- i agree with everyone here. Feed your baby the way that is best for you. I struggled so much bfing. I had to do half formula and half bf.
Nearly broke me. Feeding either a bottle or boob every 4 hours. Ds was a preamie and lost alot of weight. My family disapproved of bf...so I got alot of shit comments throughout bf....everyone wanted to feed the baby bottle.
Dd i bf cos my boobs acutually worked and I could feed her...plus I had a baby and a 18month old at the same time. If I had to wash bottles i would have cried. But if I had formula feed...they would have slept longer-- which would have been a blessing for me.
What ever you do its the right decsion for your family. As long as they are fed and warm, it doesnt matter what anyone thinks.

zoo thanks lovely. Had my 2nd jab and I am ok! Fingers crossed i stay ok!

Hazel- congratulations on moving home.

Havent caught up on thread....will catch up...

Need to get 6 yr old out for a haircut....i give up.

zoo I have no idea of your shape or personal hangups but pink and silver prompts me to show you this dress which keeps popping up in my ads (since I took part in a prom dresses thread). Lovely if you don't mind looking like a curtain Grin

Or there's this one which is more my preferred shape.

merryhouse · 15/05/2021 15:41

or if you prefer fuchsia

not so keen on this one, myself, but it's another shape

or a bit more sophistique

fits the brief

ditto, but shorter (and reduced)

almost certainly doesn't fit the brief, but almost

lovely if you can cope with the shoulders (I can't)

statement but possibly a bit too much black

...I want to get invited to a wedding now

merryhouse · 15/05/2021 15:47

turns out the curtain comes in not petite as well - totally different neckline too, could almost wear a bra with it Grin

merryhouse · 15/05/2021 15:51

darn, pasting error - shoulders

Redsquirrel5 · 15/05/2021 18:08

Merry some lovely dresses. I’m not keen on the curtain one either but saw a brocade pattern dress recently and thought the same.

Unfortunately I have had the ‘head’ all day. I went out to get some lamb and other stuff with DH I thought being out would clear my head nope. Was going to garden visit friend nearby but she replied later and she was in Newcastle.

Ate something. Sometimes works and drank a Lemon drink outside the butchers ( also sells fish, veg, fruit and some groceries) and had a slice of Swiss Roll at home nope. Plus two paracetamol. In the end I watched tv, had a cup of tea and fell asleep for nearly an hour. It has moved but not gone. Damn.

So haven’t done anything except washing up & shopping going to do 10 minutes now in boudoir.

Hope others have had a more successful day.

upincloudnine · 15/05/2021 21:20

Ahh thank you ladies for all the advice it means a lot to me🥰. I think I’m going to go straight for formula feeding because I’m already stressing about breastfeeding and I just don’t want to put pressure on myself especially already having the pressure of a single mum to 2 under 2 haha.
hills people deffo judge no matter what don’t they🙄I’m a younger mum so people judged quite a lot I think that’s why I’m a bit nervous about just formula feeding because I’m already worried about people judging.
merry yeah I deffo think my mental health is more important that the health benefits😊. I’ve always wanted a boy but now that I’m getting one I’m not sure what to do with them haha I have heard about the cold air when changing nappies I will definitely be careful of that🤣.
zoo yeah I think the stress I feel about it is just not worth it I’m so glad everyone here is so lovely and not judgemental. I struggle to make friends at playgroups because I’m the youngest mum there and I really don’t want the judgment when I pull out a bottle instead of boob but I think I’m just going to have to grow some thick skin and ignore them😅. And I know he’ll be here before we know it I’m going to get my hospital bag packed soon and I think I might make some padsicles. I hope your DD is feeling better again today💖
That 7 weeks! That’ll go so fast how are you feeling?
willow you’re so right😊 and it was lovely to see some friends hopefully we will be able to see each other more soon I have missed being out with everyone.
tidy that’s great advice I think I need to remember it🥰
sing I’m sorry your mum still feels guilty it’s nice to hear drom a child’s perspective but you’re right my little boy will be fed clothed and definitely cuddled and that’s what will matter to him💖
red I’m sorry that happened to you💖🤗 and thank you for the advice it means a lot☺️. I know I can’t believe it’s only 4 weeks!! I hope you feel better soon!
dancing my family all formula fed and they want to support me breastfeeding but I think they don’t really know how too especially when I struggle they just say it’ll be easier to formula feed. But I think I know it’s better for me to go strait to formula feeding and just get rid of the guilt. Good luck with the haircut 😀
Flying is minimal lately I’m exhausted most days I’m not getting any sleep lately sleeping has got so uncomfortable. I’ve decided to give myself the weekend off and then start a fresh on Monday. 🤞🏻 I’ll actually stick to it🤣

SingToTheSky · 15/05/2021 23:47

HazelNuttyElf · 16/05/2021 07:43

willow I had no idea there was even a packing/unpacking guide from the fat fairy 🤦‍♀️ I just started packing up things I wasn't using as much, think about what I'll need in the next 2 months, and made sure the label the top and side of the boxes. I then went around the whole house again a week or two later and did it all over again. I have got a lot of boxes unpacked and most of them are open. I'm making progress.

Speaking of progress, we have part of a wall down, so that hopefully we can move the fridge into its correct spot tomorrow (Sunday)
I bought quite a few things we needed as well today, that will help make it more like OUR home.

I'm falling asleep, I'm so tired 😴
🍒👋 to everyone

StillUpholding · 16/05/2021 07:51

Hi everyone. I’ve been reading along but struggling to post - lost a few Angry.

Happy belated birthday Hope!

Congratulations on the new home Hazel, hope you’re settling in nicely.

Zoo I’d say a good chunk of the other wedding guests will be nervous too. I adore weddings and I’m quite a social being but still get a bit panicky, especially if I don’t know many people. As the MOB I bet most guests just assume you know lots of people and they’ll be too wrapped up in worrying about who they talk to to notice what anyone else is doing. It might be worth asking if there’s a quiet room that can be used to escape for a little bit if necessary for any of you to take a breather. I know there has been at a few different weddings I’ve been to. Your DD1 will absolutely not be embarrassed by you, I think she’ll be so proud to have you all there knowing how difficult it will feel Flowers.

I can’t remember the other personals I’ve attempted. But I am here to confess that I am struggling to escape from the naughty corner. House is teetering on the edge, laundry basket is full, and I’m too shattered to face any of it. Agreeing to lots of overtime this week including yesterday morning was A Mistake. Power of 3 today and I’ll try and sort my life out.

Stilllivinginazoo · 16/05/2021 08:36

Morning peoples

I’ve spent a lot online too that - reckon I’ve got all the tops DS needs at least and a few for DD1. And a few second hand books for Cagletini :o might get some more puzzles for her too, she loves them. Need to sort DD1’s birthday presents too. Can’t believe my biggest baby is nearly 14!

Not sure what the plan is today.

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 16/05/2021 09:53

Why does 14 seem so much older than 13?! Maybe its because i know 14 was when i became erm, interesting..... Our eldest is about 6 months behind yours i think sing

I am now dressed, as are most of the DC and i just spent even more money on Amazon Blush

SingToTheSky · 16/05/2021 10:00

It does seem so much older doesn’t it that! Although as it approaches I think I’ll feel the same about 15 instead 🤣

I’m not as sure about birthday presents this year, last year her main present was a huge box of art stuff which she loved. Will be Harry Potter related for sure. And I just realised it would be good to get her some vouchers for various places in town - bubble tea etc so she can use them when she meets friends.

Stilllivinginazoo · 16/05/2021 10:01

Twatface has decided he's not coming.no explanation.nada
Looks like I'm ordering vitamins etc online
Has braced dd2 to pop sainsbo to buy food, she's now freaking the freak about local shopping.im so pissed off if he was within range would murder the selfish S.O.B

SingToTheSky · 16/05/2021 10:03

Ooh what did you get that :o I’m so nosy :o

I have a tenner on amazon thanks to a survey, tempted to get some more bath toys for Cagletini. Now that we are much better at looking after them (she puts her foam letters back in the net bag and I rinse the bubbles off them) I feel like it’s worth it. But I’ll get a separate net bag so they can be organised. Blush

SingToTheSky · 16/05/2021 10:04

IWillWashTheGreenWillow · 16/05/2021 10:11

Morning! Sorry you're struggling, Up, hope you can find your equilibrium today.
Merry those dresses are lovely. Not sure about the curtain-style prints tho.
That don't do too much, you'll wear yourself out.
Red hope the headache has shifted today.
🍒👋 to everyone else.

Yesterday was busy.
❤️ Got up and got on
💜 Soaked the shower hose in vinegar because it was disgusting.
🧡 Filled all the missing bits in bathroom (cracks, screw holes from the old blind etc)
💛 Sanded bits of bathroom
💚 Cleaned all the woodwork and walls and ceiling
💙 Cut in round the edges
💜 Painted the ceiling and the one bit of wall going from turquoise to white.

It looks brilliantly fresh and I am very pleased with it, but I ache everywhere!

Today:
🏠 Second coat on edges and bits of ceiling that need it.
🏠 Clean, tidy and reinstate the music room
🏠 Put two wallpaper drops into bathroom, then stop and wait for electrical work tomorrow
🏠 Paint some of bathroom woodwork (all doors etc want doing, but not today!)
🏠 Roast lamb etc. Possibly for lunch so DH casn fix it.
🏠 Usual Sunday planning
🏠 Collapse

Dancingtomusic · 16/05/2021 10:12

that- i am impressed you are all up and dressed!
Online shopping and normal shopping are 🙈for me.
i am trying to stay away from food shopping as i always buy things that are not on the list. Well yesterday after my Jab I wandered into shops and bought a quite a few bits and bobs for the decorating the house and lots of cleaning products.
🐩 tablets to leave into bottom of toilet- it has cleaned the limescale that refused to budge with scrubing.
🐩a gel toilet cleaner that says it smells of vanilla (i hate the smell of harpic/toilet duck gives me headaches.
🐩cleaning wipes to encourage me to do swish and swipe everyday.

red- hopw your headache is better today.
sing- you are doing amazing bit by bit you have got so many new routines and sticking to them.

Up - I wondered where you were. Mn has been glitchy. You sound like you have got your very busy with extra hours. Look after yourself too in miiddle of doing so much.

zoo- sending you a hug as you have your hands full.
hope- have fun at your ds football.

Redsquirrel5 · 16/05/2021 10:15
