Welcome fledglings to May’s Flylady thread – many, many thanks to ED for her expert guidance through April 2021.

All are welcome and especially Newbies. Don’t be shy in making yourselves known because we are a friendly bunch.
We follow Flylady’s system for house and sanity maintenance which is based around 5 room zones spread over the month. There is a weekly quick home clean in the midst of more thorough zone cleaning. I am an aging fledgling who really should be more proactive about following the plan but to be frank I enjoy the natter and good company more than I enjoy cleaning. Every day I will be checking in and giving the ‘flight plan’ for the day with links to the Flylady site. You can join Flylady on her site for email updates but she does like to send a lot out, just so you know!
The most importantist thing to know is that you are NEVER behind – just do what you can when you can. Many of us post ta da lists as we cross items off our [never-ending] to do lists.
You may find the following acronyms along the way (adapted below from ED’s useful list from April)
LOL = load of laundry
S&S = swish and swipe, a quick daily clean of the toilet and sink
PO3 = power of 3. When motivation is on the low side or you’re overwhelmed just pick 3 things at a time and do them
DNLMS = did not lose my shit
Ned = our mythical mate who helps with the laundry
Pointy stick —-> = for when a fledgling needs a motivational prod
The naughty corner = a relaxing haven where we hang out when motivation is low or when life becomes overwhelming. Usually enticing food is left there with squishy cushions.
KCC – (Keep calm corner) these are little stories, photos, memes, off-topic questions, just to keep us all distracted from the general tedium of lockdown life. Feel free to chip in.

Well clearly they’re dirty because they aren’t keeping up with Flylady. They need to get started on those babysteps.

Maybe they are trying to use the cat as a mop?

I've managed a pretty good ta da list today. Cleaned Ds's room, sorted the kitchen, laundry, watered all plants and removed dead leaves, prepared meals, tidied office and sorted through all magazines. Did digital declutter. Have noticed that the front garden needs work so pencilled that in for next week.

Hooray! Have crashed to the end of another week, and can report the following:

🧡 White wash including DD's bedding washed, line dried and folded
💛 Dark wash done and tumbled
💚 DD's jeans redyed black in the washing machine using Dylon. Now washing again per the process.

🤎 To do list for tomorrow written
🖤 More definite good recipes put into my recipe book
❤️ Lego reduced to parts and packed for shipping
🧡 Stewed apples and plums (separately)
💛 Baked an orange cake
💚 Produced roast chicken, roasties (DD) and boiled new pots (rest of us - were delicious), roasted carrots and parsnips, stuffing balls (I beg your pardon?), boiled carrots for DS3, broccoli and peas. DD made gravy
💙 Crumble for pudding (apple and plum except for DS3 who had apple and cherry) with custard.
💜 DW emptied, reloaded and run, twice
🤎 Helped Mrs Two Doors Down, whose drains are blocked. She is very distressed about it - not just the drains but also that she feels she can't cope with it and therefore must be elderly (is probably about my Mum's age).

Meanwhile, DH has taken down a dead holly tree and cut out loads of straggly rubbish (two holly, one forsythia, lots of mahonia) from the front hedge.

So now we are all exhausted! Bath and early bed for me, I think.

I do stuffing balls too willow. Sausage meat, breadcrumbs, onion and herbs.

My friend makes stuffing balls with dried apricot, wrapped in bacon, every Christmas 😋 I made the same last year, they were lovely.

Well I’ve not had a productive day, there has been lots of hiding in bed binge watching on my phone. Don’t feel remotely ready for the week ahead!

😬prompted DD1 to tidy her room through the day

Cagletini made me smile at dinner - when we remember (and are sitting all together for dinner which unfortunately doesn’t happen daily) we ask each other what our favourite thing of the day was. Cagletini actually spontaneously asked everyone herself today 😁😍

She did also have a strop in the bath, but the amazing thing was while she was crying she still tidied up the bath toys without even being asked

It’s official, she’s already better at housework than I am. :o

Dried apricot wrapped in bacon stuffing balls? Sing, my dear friend, pls share the recipe with all haste. I love that Cagletini is learning the family rituals and also the tidying up.

DH is ordering fence bits for us to fix them next week. Pass the tin hat!

I hope Red is having a good time. I'm glad she's seeing her sister.

Erm, well, we are fans of the shortcut so the recipe starts with: make stuffing according to packet instructions 🤣 🙈
Then mix in some chopped dried apricots (I think in the past we have also broken some hazelnuts in there). Form into balls, wrap in bacon and put in the oven.

Perfect for leftovers in part bake rolls with lots of cranberry sauce and mayo.

Hmm I may need to add some things to the shopping list...

I'd make extra sing. Yum

I’m feeling pretty accomplished today I did the weekly shop and managed to get most of the stuff I need for little man. My grandad also dropped off some of the stuff I’d been storing in his garage from when Emmi was a baby so I’ve got the cot up in my bedroom now just need a new mattress for it then all sorted I’m starting to panic now haha. And I had a bit of a crap moment earlier when a few people were quite rude on a thread I was on when I mentioned what I’m going to call little man. But I’m feeling a bit better now I’m watching old videos of total wipeout to cheer me up haha.

I don’t like stuffing but everyone else in my family love it I might have to try out some of the recipes you’ve shared they do sound quite tasty.

Cloud I've had a few odd looks as D's and dd2 have unusual names.theyve never said anything to them personally tho.ultimately it's your choice what he's called.for the record had there ever been another zoolet trinity would've been for a girl,Calico for a boy!

Managed get last bits of to do done yesterday.all zoolet bedding washed,dry and back on beds too
Me time was hot shower,shave legs and scrub for dry feet and sorted toenails.i wasn't going to make the effort,glad I did as put on music from many moons ago and felt quite refreshed after!

Watched call midwife with her and D's while they are,then had cheese sandwich and watch TV dd2
Ripped sleep by dd2 crashing into living room at 215 having huge panic attack.after initial 30 mins chat on back door stepwe retreated to front room and multiple rounds hangmanshe calm enough to try and sleep about 330.i dozed about.im going to need a nap later...

I’ve been awake since before 5 and feel like crap. So I’m still in bed. Might have to give up and get breakfast and painkillers soon, but in the meantime I’ll watch something so as not to wake anyone else. Going to be a long day.

I spent the night spinning in my bed. Never really seattled.
Just going to stick a shirt or 3 on a quick wash and then shove everything that needs to be dry in the dryer.
Teens is currently running a bath. Apparently he did not rely on me to wake him up. A good job as i had forgotten i was supposed to.

Today is going to hurt!
