Welcome fledglings old and new, to April's Flylady thread!

For any newbies who have stumbled across us, we are following Flylady’s housework system which is based around routines and short bursts of activity to try to keep our houses and lives in order. (Sometimes we follow it more loosely than others). Feel free to join us, the more the merrier! We post our ‘ta da’ lists for motivation (no matter how long or short), and enjoy some random chatter along the way.

The link to Flylady’s ‘flying lessons’ is here Flying Lessons. Have a read, and if you have any questions, just ask. You can sign up for emails but be warned there are lots so most of us rapidly unsubscribed.

I’ll be posting links daily to keep us all on track. Jump in wherever you are, remember you are never behind.

This is a long running thread and we’ve developed some lingo along the way:
LOL = load of laundry
S&S = swish and swipe, a quick daily clean of the toilet and sink
PO3 = power of 3. When motivation is on the low side or you’re overwhelmed just pick 3 things at a time and do them
DNLMS = did not lose my shit
Ned = our mythical mate who helps with the laundry (hasn’t paid a visit to me for a while)
Pointy stick —-> = for when a fledgling needs a motivational prod (we can be gentle if required)
The naughty corner = a relaxing haven where we hang out when motivation is low, we are on strike, or we need a rest and some TLC

KCC - we don't do so many of these now, but these are little stories, photos, memes, off-topic questions, just to keep us all distracted from the general tedium of lockdown life. Feel free to chip in.

Thanks to Up for guiding us gently through March Flowers.

And off we go into April.

zoo was only 5 hours for me, only half that in hospital too, my back is in bad condition i don't like back labour pain!

Redsquirrel5 · 13/04/2021 10:38

MrsTidy Wow sounds like you have done loads. I am really impressed. I still need to de clutter. I too have thing inherited by Aunt,Grandmother and DHs parents. He forgets some stuff is from his side of the family and wouldn’t be here otherwise. I need to sort some of that I think. Probably why we possibly have too much furniture. You have inspired me to count up what wouldn’t be here if we hadn’t inherited. I do like antique furniture though. We have mainly pine of our own choosing some old pine.

That DS2 was back to back ouch. He was also 9lb 3oz after DS1 I was told I wouldn’t be able to deliver normally!

Zoo wow 17 already. Happy birthday to her.🎂

Ships glad you like it. It is in the Summerhouse. It has a shelf inside but for some reason that won’t come up and I took a photo of the hens.

Dancing ooh sounds exciting. I would just state you are willing to learn. Let’s face it people have learned to “Zoom” and “Teams” in the past year. Not me though. 🤞🏻For you.

Right must crack on. Yesterday DH suggested we went to the Lakes since it was such a nice day. I had loads planned but we went and it was lovely. So clear because of the cold weather and sunshine. It started to snow while we had lunch. Bit strange sun then snowflakes in our sandwiches and tea! I did a bit when we came back at 6 pm.

Power of 3
Last couple of books from one bookcase to other.
Clean shower tray( did loo yesterday) and basin.
Vac floor and find the mop head thingy.

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 13/04/2021 10:44

Red dc5 weighed in at 9lb1 so i'm guessing about 9lb 6 or so for this one! I won't be buying any first size baby clothing anyway!

HillsBesideTheSea · 13/04/2021 11:05

Currently trying to construct a realistic to do list that balances what I want to get done with what other people feel needs to get done.

Dancingtomusic · 13/04/2021 12:08

Hills- i tackled my christmas lights too.

Red- Awww! The lakes! That sounds beautiful! Even with the snow in you sandwiches and tea. Do you have any pictures? I visited the about 25 years ago and wish I could visit again but wont be about to for a long time.

that- i always wished i could have a natural birth. My 2 came out through my sunroof- the only safest way for them.

Ta das-
🐤Kitchen is very nearly looking lovely and tidy.
🐤Need to cook evening meals so will trash it in a second.
🐤Have cleaning sitting room windows and can see out now.
🐤Taken down christmas lights from around sitting room. Room looks more ready for summer now.
🐤Decluttered hallway everytime i walk past.

To do-
🐥Clean chalk off kids easel. Unscrew it and flatten it to hide behind the sofa.
🐥got to start cooking but I want a nap!

🍒👋everyone, zoo,mc, foxes, waders, sing, ED, hope, ships, ice, tidy, merry, hazel, sc and anyone else i may have missed.

HillsBesideTheSea · 13/04/2021 13:05

imo natural birth is over rated. My experience was horrific. as long as baby and mum ok who cares whether sunroof or natural.

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 13/04/2021 13:18

Agreed hills i would quite fancy a csection if it were not the fact you cannot have a bath for six weeks after, i can't do that, i need baths 🛁

halfhope · 13/04/2021 13:43

Can you not have a bath for six weeks after? I didn't follow that Smile as I didn't know. Sun roof baby here as very breech. Was most intrigued to learn that I'd be able to drive after six weeks because that skill had eluded (and continues to elude) me.

halfhope · 13/04/2021 13:45

Okay I've just checked Worcestershire NHS guidelines online as that was all I could find and they allow you have a bath soon after. Have your baby there that!

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 13/04/2021 13:54

Apparently not halfhope! How soon did you have a bath? You know just incase!

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 13/04/2021 13:59

Ah i have read its because of infection risk? Apparently shouldnt submerge the wound!?

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 13/04/2021 14:02

I am now googling and it seems you can have a bloody bath Shock

EventuallyDistracted · 13/04/2021 14:12

I had one each of forceps and ventouse, both under spinal anaesthetic. It was suggested I had a bath soon after the first birth, with DS, to encourage him to feed. This was in hospital, I strongly suspect I picked up an internal infection from it and it didn't help one jot with the feeding. I didn't have a bath for weeks after that, I'm not very keen on them anyway, I'm a shower person on the whole. I definitely do not recommend forceps. Ventouse, maybe.

Stilllivinginazoo · 13/04/2021 16:04

I had 2 natural/no pain relief,an emergency and an elective c sect
I couldn't bear look at/touch my post section scars/wounds so plenty strip washes here
In terms healing the emergency I was up and business as usual

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 13/04/2021 16:12

Ah some of you have had teeny tiny babies! My smallest was 7lb9

Zoo in last three births i have felt my pubic bone was literally about the snap apart but not sure if that spd related or big head baby related! Apart from that no issues and i tend to heal well and spd vanishes very quickly

Mc3209 · 13/04/2021 16:17

Good to see you back, Waders! Glad you are no longer in the Arctic with heating fixed.
Seems like rules about child rearing change with the wind direction.
Zoo happy birthday to your DD2!
That I can't remember anyone telling me not to have a bath after csection. However, like Waders I probably wouldn't be able to get in/out. Section itself was grand, the aftermath is a bit annoying, not being able to use your abdominals for a while. I did get a new appreciation for huge pants that go up pretty much to armpits 😬 so comfy! I didn't like anything sitting on my scar for, maybe, 2 months afterwards.
Tidy that's a great decluttering achievement!

All this baby talk is making me broody ☺️

Ta da:
💥LOLx2
💥Downstairs hoovered
💥Rubbish out to the bins
💥DW rotated

Dancingtomusic · 13/04/2021 17:31

😊 Mc - aww

I agree with you all, sunroof or natural birth- as long as baby and mum are safe- its the best way.

waders - i have been mulling it over...i think it may end in bloodshed need to use my super powers of deep patience. 😆

HillsBesideTheSea · 13/04/2021 17:35

So today was the day I had to put in an official complaint about breach of patient confidentiality. Ffs. about sums up the rest of the day too.

Hello all. Super quiet lazy day here, curled up cursing female biology 🤬 and cheering myself up with lots of telly on my phone.

Cagletini made us laugh yesterday. We tend to spell a few key words when discussing plans. DH said something about getting her in the B-A-T-H.

She got all indignant and wailed “But I don’t want to be a TH! I’m not one of those!” :o
