Fledglings are Marching into March (and tentatively inching closer to freedom): The March Flylady Thread

Welcome fledglings old and new, to March’s Flylady thread!

For any newbies who have stumbled across us, we are following Flylady’s housework system which is based around routines and short bursts of activity to try to keep our houses and lives in order. (Sometimes we follow it more loosely than others). Feel free to join us, the more the merrier! We post our ‘ta da’ lists for motivation (no matter how long or short), and enjoy some random chatter along the way.

The link to Flylady’s ‘flying lessons’ is here . Have a read, and if you have any questions, just ask. You can sign up for emails but be warned there are lots so most of us rapidly unsubscribed.

I’ll be posting links daily to keep us all on track. Jump in wherever you are, remember you are never behind.

This is a long running thread and we’ve developed some lingo along the way:
LOL = load of laundry
S&S = swish and swipe, a quick daily clean of the toilet and sink
PO3 = power of 3. When motivation is on the low side or you’re overwhelmed just pick 3 things at a time and do them
DNLMS = did not lose my shit
Ned = our mythical mate who helps with the laundry (hasn’t paid a visit to me for a while)
Pointy stick —-> = for when a fledgling needs a motivational prod (we can be gentle if required)
The naughty corner = a relaxing haven where we hang out when motivation is low, we are on strike, or we need a rest and some TLC

I’ve just realised that it’ll be around a year since our lovely SC came up with the idea of the Keep Calm Corner (KCC) to keep us going in these strange times. I’ll try and keep the tradition going with little snippets of happy stories, memes, questions and distractions. Any contributions welcome as we enter what could be the final stretch to some sort of normality.

Thanks to ED for being a lovely thread leader for February and keeping us (mostly) on the straight and narrow, despite being very busy herself.

Right, quiet at the back there, have we got everyone? Let’s head into March...

Sorry I'm not around much right now, everything very full on here at the moment! I will hopefully be back on the April thread at some with a new kitchen...🤔😂

ExponentiallyDepleted · 31/03/2021 11:34

I'll get a new thread started tonight.

SingToTheSky · 31/03/2021 12:41

Thanks ed

SingToTheSky · 31/03/2021 12:45

Just did training. Really lovely session, it’s lovely we can all share things with each other 💖 I’m looking forward to the actual role, but I’ll miss training! Although I believe we then have supervision group meetings every 6 weeks or so, which will be nice - it’ll be so odd when we can actually have them in person (with cake apparently :o).

HazelNuttyElf · 31/03/2021 19:51

I figured if better stop by and say we did make it home okay 🤣 DD is a good driver so we got to our destination in one piece.

Sing I'm glad your training sessions are going well, I hope the visit tonight won't be too stressful for DD (& you), the SW really should have called like she said she was going to.
foxes a shiny new kitchen! How exciting!
ED thank you for taking on April thread
I don't remember who said what on previous pages, sorry!

We went to look at our new house again Monday, it's now empty. We measured the space for the fridge, it won't fit. So we're going to knock that little wall out, as well as the rest of the was in the kitchen and living room to open it all up! That wasn't the plan when we put our offer in, but it will really open up the space. We will need to put taking up since the stairs to the basement are right on between those 2 rooms! So much for moving to a place with nothing that needs doing 🤣😂 other than putting in a garage, which has been the plan all along.
I panicked today and bought plastic Easter eggs today, so now I feel a little more prepared for Easter. I still have to pull my decorations out and that'll help too.

YesTaDas:
🐣 Washed my sheets
🐣 Had my hair done, cut & roots
🐣 Worked for 3 hours
🐣 Sorted DS'S glasses out, they replaced his broken frames (30 minute drive for a 2 minute fix)
🐣 Sorted home insurance, but their system crashed so she'll call me tonight with the quote

I leave work early today to take DD to the dentist, it seems one of her wisdom teeth might be coming in 🤦‍♀️ I'm not ready to pay that bill yet.

🍒👋 to everyone!

SingToTheSky · 31/03/2021 20:13

Well done to DD for the driving hazel

Still waiting for the SW. 70min late so far. We had already agreed on a McDonald’s later :o I made dinner for Cagletini but we haven’t given her a bath etc yet in case she shows up.

I at least got a lot done planning my presentation for training.

Hiya, I’m exhausted today. The heat has really knocked it out of me and the DC have been grumpy because of it too. My uncle came to visit today, just a sweeping visit but it was lovely. Unfortunately the day was ruined as DH has pissed me off! He called after work to tell me his friends from home have all come down to see him and they want to have a few drinks together but don’t want to go to a park so can they do it in our garden. Bearing in mind our garden is tiny because it’s literally on the side of a canal🙄, it’s not like in a house. Plus the DC have been so grumpy today and I want to keep them in some sort of routine. I told DH I wasn’t very happy with his friends for just showing up and not arranging first, and who arranges to do stuff like this on a weekday! And then he told me it’s actually been planned since last week but he forgot to mention!. I told him that if he had arranged it then he should’ve sorted somewhere for them to go and they aren’t coming to our garden, he wasn’t very happy because he didn’t know where to take them! Not my fault. He’s come home now, with his 5 friends, the DC are asleep and the noise has woke them up. They’re in our garden, clearly had a bit to drink and DH says they’re only here to have a look at the boat and then they’re all going home. DD’s all excitable, it’ll be a nightmare to get her back to sleep now. I’ve told them all to piss off and that just because they don’t have wives and kids doesn’t mean they can just act like DH’s wife and kids don’t exist. DH is very apologetic but I’ve told him to do one as well, he’s on the sofa tonight or in one of the kids bunks. He could sleep outside for all I care!. He’s usually so considerate then he gets with his friends and it’s like he can’t say no. He’s like it with everyone, doesn’t want to upset anyone so never puts any boundaries in place. He’s so easily led but he’s a fully grown man he needs to grow some balls!. I’m lying in bed with DD who won’t sleep and nursing DS, exhausted as I’m the one who’s been entertaining all day and I don’t get a break with my friends. I’m seething!.

Sorry about my rant guys!. Just need to get it all out.

Anyway...we went a bit further out today, to a park with a lake. Had chips by the lake and then came home. I set up a swing in our garden for the DC. Haven’t done much flying because of the heat.

dancing she‘s 2 next month and god help us, she’s already got such an attitude. It’s a lovely age though she’s so funny!.

It was a lovely day mc the weather makes all the difference. Brilliant list!

Hi ED👋🏻, glad to hear you’re enjoying hearing about boat life! what a beautiful picture! I’m in the south east!. Your day off sounds brill.

up well done on that run! I hope you had a nice walk with your dad.

I’m glad to hear your training sessions went well sing!

hazel it sounds like you’re getting loads ready for the new house very exciting!

You’ve got loads done waders!

DH has just come in apologising again, he soon shut up with the look I gave him. I know it isn’t a huge deal in the grand scheme of things but it just feels like he put his friends before me and the DC. It’s going to take a lot of making up to do.

SingToTheSky · 31/03/2021 21:04

Giving up, ordering dinner. Should’ve just put Cagletini to bed ages ago TBH. Oh well. 🙄

EventuallyDistracted · 31/03/2021 21:49

Sing - how annoying. I hate it when people do that to you.

Ships - we have pitchforks and shovels available, you are by no means the first person on this thread to be pissed off by their DH. Hope he is suitably apologetic. We are SE too, that photo is the River Itchen.

Hazel - it all sounds quite exciting about the new house.

Foxes - we are still going round in circles with our kitchen design. We had one we liked, but think it might lack storage space, so needs looking at again before we place an order and DH STILL hasn't phoned the builders.

I will get the new thread started now. I'm aware I haven't posted much lately but I do enjoy thread leading, even if it is a bit random sometimes.

Grr that’s frustrating Sing! Well done on the presentation prep though.

I’m sure there’s room under the patio for another Ships. Could probably chuck the drunken mates in too.

Don’t worry about keeping up Foxes, we’ll be here ready to hear all about your lovely new kitchen.

Not much of a list today; we took advantage of the good weather and ended up staying out with DDad longer than planned. DD has really missed him and I enjoyed having someone else to push DD on the swing at the park! He treated us to fish and chips too.

Ta Das:
🐟 s&s x 2
🍟 lol washed, line dried and remembered to bring it back
🐟 dusted upstairs
🍟 kept everywhere tidy
🐟 financial stuff
🍟 made spaghetti and meatballs

Thanks for all the March chatter everyone. It’s been a pleasure.

Thanks again for volunteering ED, I’ll be placemarking on the new thread ASAP.
