Fledglings are Marching into March (and tentatively inching closer to freedom): The March Flylady Thread

Welcome fledglings old and new, to March’s Flylady thread!

For any newbies who have stumbled across us, we are following Flylady’s housework system which is based around routines and short bursts of activity to try to keep our houses and lives in order. (Sometimes we follow it more loosely than others). Feel free to join us, the more the merrier! We post our ‘ta da’ lists for motivation (no matter how long or short), and enjoy some random chatter along the way.

The link to Flylady’s ‘flying lessons’ is here . Have a read, and if you have any questions, just ask. You can sign up for emails but be warned there are lots so most of us rapidly unsubscribed.

I’ll be posting links daily to keep us all on track. Jump in wherever you are, remember you are never behind.

This is a long running thread and we’ve developed some lingo along the way:
LOL = load of laundry
S&S = swish and swipe, a quick daily clean of the toilet and sink
PO3 = power of 3. When motivation is on the low side or you’re overwhelmed just pick 3 things at a time and do them
DNLMS = did not lose my shit
Ned = our mythical mate who helps with the laundry (hasn’t paid a visit to me for a while)
Pointy stick —-> = for when a fledgling needs a motivational prod (we can be gentle if required)
The naughty corner = a relaxing haven where we hang out when motivation is low, we are on strike, or we need a rest and some TLC

I’ve just realised that it’ll be around a year since our lovely SC came up with the idea of the Keep Calm Corner (KCC) to keep us going in these strange times. I’ll try and keep the tradition going with little snippets of happy stories, memes, questions and distractions. Any contributions welcome as we enter what could be the final stretch to some sort of normality.

Thanks to ED for being a lovely thread leader for February and keeping us (mostly) on the straight and narrow, despite being very busy herself.

Right, quiet at the back there, have we got everyone? Let’s head into March...

SingToTheSky · 21/03/2021 10:27

Have put last night’s LOL in dryer and put a new one in.

Census time now. I might time it 😂

Mc3209 · 21/03/2021 11:52

Zoo I'll PM you.

SingToTheSky · 21/03/2021 12:19

Census done. 31min for the five of us

Doublechins · 21/03/2021 16:01

Ooh that looks really sore zoo hope you can get it looked at.

Few ta-da's
🍹 quick tidy and sweep floors
🍹LOL
🍹ironing

Finally did my food shop. I've prepared the veg etc for dinner and now I'm on the vodka in the garden and feeling a wee bit merry 🤣

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 21/03/2021 16:13

Ive been pretty productive today. Dc have been helpful (well some of them have) only thing is i'm now feeling pretty frazzled and cba with much else!

Redsquirrel5 · 21/03/2021 17:17

Sorry I fell off again.

Pages to read so only read last two and jumping back in.
Bathroom all clean including shelves.

Zoo it does look like it might be arthritis.

DH is insisting on doing Census. He told me last week he had done it when I asked. Will check today.

Anti procrastination- chased up some things been meaning to do. Tiles and had lovely email back. I sent a chatty one to her as I like her and I think it might be nice to get one during these times.
Planning to send more Easter cards. I have some from other years so will round them up and send. Just noticed the date. MIL’s birthday might explain DH being a bit distant. Hard to tell sometimes but he hasn’t said much to me last few days. Might walk up to BF now. I went for lie down and fell asleep.

Easter. Yes celebrate as a Christian but no choir this year. Usually very busy and go about 3 or 4 times because of choir. Booked to go to Mass on Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Never had to do that before. Room for 300 but only allowed 90. 88 today.

Will pop back later.

Cherry 🍒👋🍒👋🍒👋🍒🍒👋🍒👋🍒👋🍒👋🍒👋🍒👋waves to you all.

HillsBesideTheSea · 21/03/2021 20:04

I have to figure out how to register the teen's lateral flow test that he needs to do today. Anyone figured this out already?

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 21/03/2021 20:06

Theres a page in the instruction book hills we have just done our twos tests

SingToTheSky · 21/03/2021 20:09

Oh yes we have that to look forward to first thing tomorrow :o

Other than the census and a bit of laundry I have had a very unproductive day indeed. Dizziness is evil. I did make Cagletini a wish list of books on the library website though. Hardly the most necessary task but something I could do while on the sofa half watching telly.

Cagletini’s not asleep yet but when she is I need to do the hardest bit of anti procrastination I’ve done in a while and face the pip renewal. Thanks to some lovely advice I feel a bit more confident with the actual filling in thankfully! I’m trying to think of how much better I’ll feel when it’s done (aside from the subsequent worry about getting the results obv but I can’t do anything about that).

HillsBesideTheSea · 21/03/2021 20:46

There was a booklet?

Oh lordy, I guess I am going to piss off the teenager... Also apparently according to school it was supposed to be done between 3 and 7pm. Who on earth is not up to their eye balls doing stuff between 3 and 7pm ? Tea time here is 7pm so i am normally in the middle of cooking from around 6 and prior to that in the middle of doing food prep for the week.

i hate this system already and it is only test one.

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 21/03/2021 20:50

Report it here hills

www.gov.uk/report-covid19-result

HillsBesideTheSea · 21/03/2021 20:57

Right 20 what feels like billion emails later I have found the school email result in system info.

Now all i have to do is to sort the child doing the test.

I am thinking tonight would be a good night for a strong drink of vodka. It has been a super trying day today anyway. An arsing pissing patriarchal twat lives in this house and this was show very much to be the case thanks to the sodding census.

HillsBesideTheSea · 21/03/2021 20:57

Thank you That!

HillsBesideTheSea · 21/03/2021 21:01

Well crap - you apparently need a mobile. That is a whole heap of nope then. Ffs.

StillUpholding · 21/03/2021 21:27

How is the weekend over?

Star for completion of censuses. (Censi?)

I seemed to find some energy from somewhere:
🌟 upstairs dusted and hoovered
🌟 tidied DD’s room properly
🌟 2 x LOLs
🌟 ironing done and clothes away
🌟 cleaned bathroom throughly including the shower screen, window, mould and mildew spray on tiles, hands-and-knees scrub of the floor. Smells nice and it’s sparkly.
🌟 cleared kitchen after tea (sausage and mash)
🌟 ordered a couple of birthday presents for DD.
🌟 had an hour on the beach to tire out DD
🌟 food, bags and clothes prepped for work/nursery

Zone 4 as of tomorrow. Here’s the plan for the week

Thanks for Easter ideas. I think I’ll add some Easter baking to the list as I’ve just remembered I got some bunny and egg cookie cutters last year. We also need to do some egg decorating for a nursery competition. Easter isn’t normally a big deal for us but I really want to make the effort this year otherwise a long weekend may be a struggle with nothing open.

Sorry about the lack of personals tonight, I’m struggling to keep my eyes open. Night fledglings 😴

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 21/03/2021 21:33

Why do you need a mobile hills?

HillsBesideTheSea · 21/03/2021 21:52

I took a moment, and decided that I am making the teen register his test because he has a phone.

I am just really tired and pain levels are through the roof. And apparently I can no longer even handle potatoes without allergic reaction affecting my breathing so food safe gloves are going to have to be the new norm. Just a shame I hadn't figured that out before i have been handling 7kg of the things, HmmSad Taking massive reaction anti-histamine dosage, pain killers and sorting hot water bottle. Would say i was going to bed but I have just been handed school uniform to wash for tomorrow Hmm

Just done lateral flow tests x 3 (DH does his own). Give me strength. DS can barely aim the swab into his mouth, then the NHS report which is a rigmarole and then to each of their schools through different submission forms. Plus my own. Hills it needs a mobile so they can text you to tell you that the negative (hopefully) result you have just reported to them is negative

Up impressive list. Have a good rest!
Hills could the owner of that uniform be invited to wash it themselves? Or would that create more trouble?
Sing I hope your dizziness gets better. Good luck with the forms!
ED sounds like lateral flow test galore at yours.

Ta das:
💥Bathroom blitzed
💥A bit of weeding in the front garden. Mulching definitely helped. Need to add more bark.
💥Kitchen tidy up
💥Cleaned mould off the bedroom window
💥Put a WM dispenser drawer through a DW. Looking better, but it will need a quick once over before I fit it back in
💥Quick hoover downstairs
💥Aquarium maintenance x1. Other 2 will be done tomorrow.

Tomorrow need to finish home bleugh and water all the houseplants.

ExponentiallyDepleted · 21/03/2021 23:01

Hope you aren't up too late with the laundry Hills and that your symptoms settle soon.

Tada!
Laundry x lots
Click and collect collected

Dinner (homemade pizza)

SingToTheSky · 21/03/2021 23:02

Nearly finished the forms. Would be good if I can do it all, then I just need to look for any evidence to add, if there is any Hmm
