Just opening the new thread while I have a chance! All welcome here, join in with the housework chat, the keep calm corner and general ramblings about life in lockdown!
Any of us have been here a long time so we may seem cliquey but it’s never intentional - newbies and returners are always welcome.

Wow fluff love that pic!

Managed to go out on the family walk today which was nice. Eldest two seem much closer again, play fighting and running round and giggling together :)

We’ve not managed so much of DS’ work today as we are so tired and then oak academy thing was much longer than I expected, especially as DS got so into it! He’s come up with a cool project idea so I’ll build that into the plan for the next couple of days.

Spoke to DH about maybe writing fewer tasks on the board for DS on Wednesdays just so we can catch our breath a bit and work on bigger stuff. And so I don’t get burned out! 😳

DH has just gone to get my prescription and drop it in to Boots, this involves a lot of walking so I’m quite grateful I’m just sitting here with a sleeping toddler on me.

Bower just caught up and saw about the anti-procrastination 💜🧡💙💚

Right I should really move the toddler off me and get something done. There’s dirty clothes in the WM so I could get that sorted. Also I should set up the activity for her to do when she wakes up. DH has set up a circuit in the garden for the big two to do, incorporating some skills that DD1’s PE teacher sent :)

Yummmm celery and peanut butter 😍 I was so skeptical when my mum mentioned it but it’s actually gorgeous.

Ugh sorry about the neighbour. Would a schedule make it easier than having particular space? Like one household uses it 10-12 (and wipes everything at the end), the next 12.30-2.30 etc?

Gosh that’s so sad about your sister :( I’m glad kids won’t have to be subjected to SATs this year. Hopefully the teachers are being understanding. It can be really tough being the high achieving kid sometimes I think - makes it so hard to ask for help and you end up fearing making any mistakes.

Right, seriously have to move 😳 I AM going to:
📌put the washing on
📌see if I can guide the gigantic fuzzy bumblebee out the back door as DS is getting anxious
📌trudge up the stairs and check that DD1 is doing some work
📌drink some water
📌watch the bitesize show with DS as it was late being uploaded today

Oh. The bee has gone. Must do the rest of the list now!

Jeez neighbour sounds a right joy hoover 🙄 I have little patience with people who would rather complain than at least try to make the best of something (when possible of course)

Thanks for inspiring some fun BTW, Cagletini loved putting things in the water, she didn’t “get” the words sink and float yet (never talked about it in the bath as she spends the entire time standing up screaming 😳) but she was talking about things coming back up/staying at the bottom 😊

Now my foot is cold as it got splashed a lot 😂

Oh no zoo have you managed to sort it yet I really really hope you have or will be able to quickly!

Ta das
Did some extra work as overtime as they asked me to
Made banana muffins
Did quite a bit of school work with dd
Did a few activities with ds but he wasn't too interested
Dishwasher on
Laundry
Tidied toys up in living room
Cleaned bathroom
Decluttered bath toys (anti procrastination!)
Dh took car to garage as it's broken , picked up some bread while there hooray!

Fluffiest · 22/04/2020 18:46

Well, I'm not getting much cleaning done this week. The sun is keeping me in the garden, spent nearly all afternoon playing with DD and DH mowed the lawn - first cut of the year so it was a big job.

I made tea and am about to put DD to bed, and then that will be me done for the day. I'm a morning person and find that I have zero energy or brain power after 8pm. Sunny days make me even more sleepy too. Think I fancy clean pyjamas and an early night with hot chocolate and my book.

KTCluck · 22/04/2020 19:22

Ah Zoo what a ‘mare! Hope you got sorted.

Giveme your neighbour sounds a pain but hopefully she’ll continue to stay out of the garden. I think I’ll try the sink / float thing too, DD would enjoy it.

Hope the injury is healing Willow.

KCC - I like art but don’t have much knowledge about artists and their work. The piece that’s really stuck in my head was at Tate Modern about 15 years ago. No recollection of the artist, but it was huge dresser packed full of random stuff in al the cupboards and drawers and you could explore it and move bit about. There were kids all over it and I was dying to get in amongst but at 18 I thought I should probably leave them to it Grin. It reminded me of the dresser at my grannies when we were young and I was fascinated with it.

Ta Das:
✅ supermarket shop, treated myself to some gorgeous pots for the front garden
✅ upstairs dusted and hoovered
✅ LOL and clean washing away
✅ bathroom cleaned
✅ 15 mins decluttering a couple of boxes in the boudoir
✅ boudoir / dressing room mirrors and windows cleaned
✅ upstairs bins emptied
✅ family walk
✅ DH’s cuisine demolished and dishes done
✅ soup made
✅ uniform packed

We’ve spent most of the day in the garden and it’s been lovely. Having a chill in the bath, need to wash DD’s hair then prep overnight oats while DH does bedtime. Then I’ll read a book I forgot I had until I decluttered the boxes. Night fledglings!

foxessocks · 22/04/2020 19:31

fluffiest it's a bit of a long standing joke between me and dh that I don't move after 7pm when the kids go to bed Grin

LaneBoy · 22/04/2020 20:56

DS just discovered the Playmobil movie (which he’d seen in the cinema with a friend) on prime.

Very very glad I could distract myself finding home ed stuff online while that was on. Yawn fest!

Well, another long day of WFH. Didn't feel as productive today, yesterday I steamed through a huge list of small jobs, today I just had one big one and it was hard going. Tomorrow I am only going to do a half day.

Tada!
Cup of tea in the garden while sourdough bread that had been rising overnight baked.
Ate most of it
Despatched DS to start school work in his room
Work telecon interrupted by DD wandering in to get breakfast (luckily only friendly colleagues)
Washing on
Emails
More work
Lunch break
Washing on, repotted a plant in the garden
Work, interrupted by DCs at various points
More emails
Half an hour at the allotment
Dinner (chicken and leek soup with remaining sourdough)
Sat in garden with cuppa again
Came in
Went out to watch satellites - didn't see any
Came in, sorted and filed pile of recopes, got ready for bed
Looked for satellites again through window, another fail
Bed.

I'm not really an arty person but like vivid modern work eg David Hockney. I prefer landscapes to portraits. I love photography, especially of buildings and landscapes.

Bowerbird5 · 22/04/2020 23:45

Oh Zoo I wished I had read posts earlier. I just knew DH would be looking to see where I was and he has done masses of weeding. Front bed thick with bishop’s weed. Can you ringthe local store and ask to speak to the manager? Such a shame we don’t live near each other.

Well! I was outside minding my own business when a climbing rose attacked me as I was going past. DH laughed until he saw me take my hand down from my head and it was covered in bright red blood. After having a look and I had grabbed a handy flannel, soaked in cold water and placed a compress on my head he told me to go and sit down so I asked for a mug of sweet chai tea( we haven’t got any tea bags left) and I then got a horrible headache. What were we saying about accidents? It was windy and just as I was going past the branch went right down on my head so a thorn went into it and then as the wind caught it again it moved and scratched my scalp. I can feel the congealed blood. I just hope I don’t get an infection. DHs uncle died from sepsis from a Rose thorn.

I had been cleaning the floor of the green house and I have planted more old seeds I found. We put a few things in the garden too.

I spent an hour reading serials in magazines and taking out recipes etc. I also started to clean out DDs dolls house. It is my project before she returns.
We had fajitas for tea.
Gladys was very vocal after laying an egg today. She strutted about the pen. No sign of her previous owner but I left the cake in the wood shed and a note.
Lane such a cute photo.

HungryHazelEyes · 23/04/2020 00:54

zoo I hope you were able to get your shopping sorted out.

bower ouch! Rose thorns hurt so bad, I would imagine on your head would be awful.

give your boys are so cute!

lane glad to see your caglets enjoying a little physics.

I know there are others I missed so hello 👋

Productive day today;

🖤 Sorted kitchen out- put everything away from counters so now there's minimal stuff out.

💙 Wiped the counters down.

💚 1 LOL- DSs sheets.

💛 DW emptied.

🧡 Sorted out fridge.

❤ Treated wood with oil- sideboard, table and chairs.

💜 Put Easter decorations away.

🖤 Swept kitchen.

💙 S&S bathroom.

💚 Dusted in bedroom.

💛 Watered plant in kitchen.

I took a 2 hour nap! I needed it though. I did also Skype with my mum twice, it's her birthday! Got to sing happy birthday to her with my brother (he's her carer).

It's almost 6pm, was going to dye my hair, not sure about that now. I work tomorrow (10hr shift) then a 3 day weekend so might just do it then instead.

HungryHazelEyes · 23/04/2020 04:25

I'm so stupid!!! I cut my hair!!! The front isn't bad but the back is terrible- I cried 😭

Sorry for just posting this, even though I dyed my hair- that's OK as I no longer have greys.

Bowerbird5 · 23/04/2020 05:36

Hi Hazel.
Yeah it hurt I had a headache for a couple of hours after then dozed off for about 10-15 minutes and when I woke up it had gone. It was a rose we’ve had for while so it is long and thick.

Shame about your hair can you wear it up or in a pony tail to disguise it?

THATscurryfungeBITCH · 23/04/2020 06:48

Oh dear hazel i am quite sure your not gonna be the only person with a bad hair cut right now!

THATscurryfungeBITCH · 23/04/2020 06:49

Hope your head ok bower!

LaneBoy · 23/04/2020 08:19

Oh no hazel :( at least the front is ok I guess, probably better that way round! It’ll grow 💐

Bower hope you’re healing up ok

Zoo sending massive hugs :( it’s horrible when stuff like this goes wrong.

Why is it that now we aim to get up at 8 I am sleeping in more instead of naturally waking at six?! Is my brain that much of a rebel Hmm I had loads of really weird, but very mundane and realistic dreams.

Going to make an Alexa announcement to get everyone else up now!

OP posts:
THATscurryfungeBITCH · 23/04/2020 08:21

lane my dc keep muting their bloody Alexa's Angry

LaneBoy · 23/04/2020 08:29

Lol is that just by turning the volume right down? Thankfully mine don’t seem to have thought of it. We only just learned about announcements and drop in!

Oh well at least DS is now up but he’s taking a verrrrry long time to tell me about his minecraft based dream 😴🙄

OP posts:
IWillWearTheGreenWillow · 23/04/2020 08:31

Ouch, Bower, that sounds painful! Hopefully the headache was the adrenaline rather than anything else. I freely concede my Miss Domestic Accident 2020 crown to you 👑.

Hazel, sorry you hate your haircut. Rest assured you won't be the only person it's happened to. Can you do some kind of cunning work around with scarves / pony tail / hairclips / a hat?

I need to dye my hair today, I'm getting to be more root than hair. And it's greyer than I remember!

zoo, any luck straightening out Iceland? I can't believe someone else accepted your shopping, knowing they hadn't ordered it!

Lane, lovely pic of the DC together. We have occasional moments like that - DS2 taught DS3 to skateboard for 90 mins on Easter Monday, it was so lovely to listen to.

Yesterday's big Ta Da was that I got to Tesco, got everything we needed except flour and yeast, and got home and it all away in only 3.5hrs! There was tea and DS3 did his Grading.

I've found an extra bit of report I need to write, tediously - I changed the structure at some point and took a bit out that I now need to put back in - then I'm definitely printing it and getting shot of it!

Todays To Dos
♥️ Morning routine for me
🧡 Morning routine for the house
💛 Writing
💚 Drum lesson online for DS3 at 11.30
💙 Make lunches
💜 Homework with DS3
🖤 Check DS2 is getting some maths support - the current bit of A-level he's not being taught is unfathomable to all of us (and DH and I and DS1 all stopped maths at GCSE).
♥️ Walk for me, I hope
🧡 Make pies with DS1 again - 3 different kinds this time. Honestly, food is the single biggest issue at the moment. I am starting to properly resent the imposition of a veggie on top of all the other food issues and allergies. zoo, you are amazing to cope with all the food issues in your house.

Foxes, Fluffiest, it is well known that I am The Morning Parent in this house and do any point from 5am onwards but go offline at 8pm. DH does 9am to Midnight. It's taken us 20 years to reach this understanding, but it's the only way we can make it work!

🍒🙋 to That, Chic, SC, Stressy, Give, We3, KT, ED (hope today is effective) Lisette. I know I will have missed someone in that list, huge apologies if it was you.

Right, off to get going!
