Just opening the new thread while I have a chance! All welcome here, join in with the housework chat, the keep calm corner and general ramblings about life in lockdown!
Any of us have been here a long time so we may seem cliquey but it’s never intentional - newbies and returners are always welcome.

THATscurryfungeBITCH · 22/04/2020 08:49

lane definitely not just you! Also confused as to why on website the ages are separate e.g. 9-10, 10-11 but on the iplayer its 9-11!

THATscurryfungeBITCH · 22/04/2020 08:50

Today’s randomness stolen from FB:

  • an idea for a window sign for those of us home educating :o I saw other options such as “nice try” and “piss poor” :o I reckon we’d all get a better result than we think though under these insane circumstances, but it made me laugh
  • a useful observation about mood cycles under aforementioned insane circumstances - it’s REALLY ok to have bad days
  • a fishy joke

Today’s question: Do you like looking at art? Do you have any favourite artists, or pieces that you’d love to have in your home?

I like lots of artists but I don’t think particularly deeply about anything - I never really get the emotional reaction that I do from music and it’s purely based on whether I think it looks nice. I prefer modernish stuff rather than portraits etc (years of being dragged round portrait galleries with my history-mad mum put me off :o) - I can appreciate the brilliant skills but I’m afraid they all look the same to me Blush.

I have in the past spent birthday money on little prints to put up, and mum often brings back one if they go to a gallery on holiday. In my living room I have Matisse, Escher (DH’s fave), Dali, Picasso and Hokusai. But my favourite is one DH found on eBay, a Warhol print of Beethoven who I love and play a lot, and that’s above the piano :o probably one of the best presents he’s ever got me!

I’ll end my nerdy waffling there Blush

Yeah it’s a bit of a miscommunication between the TV stuff and the lesson stuff isn’t it?! Both seem great but not quite connected enough. That said I’m very grateful for it as it’s a nice change and DS learns well from short bursts of stuff so I think it’ll be useful. There have been lots of comments from home edders asking if it’ll be made permanent! The oak academy thing does look great too.

I’m very guilty of always waiting for the perfect time to teach something (and then never getting round to it) so it’s good for me to have an outside influence to just make me get on with it 😳😂

Hope it shows up soon zoo :( I think the situation is making all these things run far less efficiently than normal so please don’t be permanently put off, as if you could stand to do this once a month in future to get the heavy stuff it could be really helpful xx

It's saying online it's been delivered that
I heard them banging at door up road just after 6,maybe they delivered wrong house?
£80 shopping and i can't even contact them as the phone lines are closed,so no way of complaining either I can seeSad

THATscurryfungeBITCH · 22/04/2020 09:05

Shock is the address right on the account?

LaneBoy · 22/04/2020 09:08

Oh no!!! Can you look on their FB page to see if anyone is answering messages

OP posts:
THATscurryfungeBITCH · 22/04/2020 09:11

There is a contact us form on the website zoo you could try that

Have you checked theyve not dumped on your doorstep? Or at back of house?

THATscurryfungeBITCH · 22/04/2020 09:12

The message you had about missing items, did it come from a mobile number? If so i would phone that

Stilllivinginazoo · 22/04/2020 09:42

I checked the address 4x when I opened account and was right.just looked and it's not my address on delivery slot..
An expensive lesson in how my life will never be easy
I've had less than 3hoirs sleep,dd2 already had huge row as there's no bread for toast, and it's all my fault
Lots tears
Felt rubbish/ill as it was,now £80 down I'm beyond depressed
Giving up for today

LaneBoy · 22/04/2020 09:51

Oh zoo :( that’s horrendous about the phone lines not being open at all - can you do the contact form and message them on FB? (Make sure the page has a blue tick) Are you on Twitter, could DD1 tweet them if she uses it?

Please don’t let this drop - I’ve seen this happen a lot on MN/FB and the supermarkets do fix it if it’s posted on social media

OP posts:
IWillWearTheGreenWillow · 22/04/2020 09:59

Oh zoo, that's crap. Can you contact the address that the account says it's gone to? Even if you have to walk up the road and bang on the door?

So very sorry. Let us know if we can make it easier.

Had another busy night here with the dog up at 2.40am and again at 5.40am, when I gave up and got up.

♥️Spent a happy 90 minutes talking to DS1, who was still up from yesterday, and writing his email about changing degree courses.
🧡 Hour's walk with the dog
💛 Messaged the groomer as WillowHound is now rocking the Animated Hearthrug look, complete with Dennis Healey-style eyebrows, and I need advice on now best to trim him without wrecking his coat.
💚 Second cup of coffee and a sit down, with extra painkillers for my coccyx. Starting to think I may have cracked something as 10 days in I still can't get up from a chair without pain, and now I can't bend down either.
💙 Woke DS2. This is clearly lockdown's running gag in this house.

To dos:
📌 DW
📌 Remainder of S&S
📌 Clean our bathroom
📌 Sweep kitchen floor
📌 Print final Scottish report and bind
📌 Invoice Scottish report
📌 Speak to DM and DSis at 11am
📌 Get DS2 to finish yesterday's maths
📌 DS2 online appt at 2pm (will need my laptop)
📌 Get pork into low oven at 2pm for pulled pork at tea time
📌 Hwk with DS3 this afternoon
📌 Kung Fu grading for DS3 at 4.45pm

It never actually stops, does it?

LaneBoy · 22/04/2020 10:16

Somehow it really doesn’t stop, willow Confused

This is the first week we’ve really been home edding in lockdown as we stopped when DS got ill mid March. It is absolutely addling my brain which is crazy when you consider we’ve been doing it over 5 years! But having 3 kids in very different situations is proving tricky. DD1 is sitting at the table to do her maths ATM rather than hiding upstairs and omg she and DS will not shut up 😂

Want to do the float/sink activity with R (thanks for ideas BTW my mind had gone totally blank!) but it’s going to have to wait for family time after school hours as there’s no way we can focus on that while also giving the big two enough attention. They struggle to work independently - forgot to say I completely agree with SATs comments on the language etc, it’s often not that they don’t understand the actual content they just struggle so much with even understanding what is being asked

Where has it been delivered to zoo? I have twice moved and sent shopping to my previous address Blush i also once sent A BED to my old address Blush

Bowerbird5 · 22/04/2020 10:48

Dropping in quickly but haven't caught up on posts. will do later but will feel guilty if i don't go and do something in the garden as I had a day off yesterday and most of Sunday. DH said he is having a day off but now pottering so best not seen to be skiving.

Anti Procrastination
I have answered an email from you know who...well some of you will.
I have phoned the GPs and asked for the asthma nurse and she is back in tomorrow for telephone calls yeah!

Ta Das
Cat -everything
checked and fed hens, getting better but Ziggy still has the upper wing.
made bed
sorted one basket of washing and things that I don't have room for put some away and decanted from two baskets to one in boudoir.
watered plants and seedlings
Made DH a coffee let him get his own breakfast.
making decision about new log store told you he is in checking up on me.Blah!
LOL x1

That's it.
I am pleased about the anti procrastination as it was niggling at me and making me anxious. I have made the wrong decision. Until I made one I didn't realise but now I do. I will leave it a little while then decide and put that bit of paper in Wink

Right better go see what the Master wants.

Bowerbird5 · 22/04/2020 10:49

Artist Turner and Monet.

Then DD.

LaneBoy · 22/04/2020 11:26

Ooh I do like monet. Used to have a poster of one that had sunset on the sea with a little boat.

Sooo behind schedule today, but DS is happily drawing a leaf cross section so I’m not complaining!

The oak academy videos are 20 minutes long but have bits where you pause so I’ll need to remember to take that into account!

Any luck yet zoo

Ah zoo I'm so sorry about your shopping. I hope that you can get it re-delivered or a refund.

Morning ta da:
⭐ beds made
⭐ washing on the line
⭐ last nights dishes washed, dried and put away
⭐ wiped down kitchen counters
⭐ finished digging the grass out of new flowerbed. Next I need to tackle the roots, till and spread out new compost

Art - I'm very uninformed but do love looking around art galleries. I'd love to have more art up in the house. In fact, for DH's birthday I got him a print of Killiney Hill by W H Bartlett. It's his favourite walking spot back in home town in Ireland. And it's cool to see an illustration of it in the 1800s. I'll see if I can find a photo to share with you.

Fluffiest · 22/04/2020 12:07

Here it is, love how it was clearly a popular walking spot 100 years ago!
