May thread

Lisette1940 · 30/04/2020 15:19

Well done averytiredMom. Two happy looking kids there.

Thanks for everything Lane Star

Lisette1940 · 30/04/2020 15:21

I hate to break it to you all but moving is the habit of the month for May in Flylady land.

LaneBoy · 30/04/2020 15:31

Oooh that I may (hehe) be able to do! Done my workout three days in a row (plus a little yoga yesterday) - rest day today though.

ED I’m so sorry xx

Awww very love the pic with your DCs (the one on the sofa, that hair!!! All blonde and wavy 😍) and great job on tidying! The other pic feels very familiar from our old house - the only reason we have more space now since moving house is the room is bigger and there’s more room to store stuff in other rooms - our bedroom is bigger too but it is chock full. There is often clean laundry in the toddler’s bed... she doesn’t sleep in it :o

I’ve got nothing done today, felt a bit rubbish around lunchtime and finding it hard to pull myself out of it.

Sorry for your loss EDThanks

We've finished school work for today. Had a call from DS3 teacher who said she is also resorting to chocolate bribery for her 5 year old some days so nice to know it's not just me and even actual teachers are struggling to motivate their kids 😂

Left the DC and DH watching a film and I've just arrived at Asda. The que is massive and it's raining ☹️ my DGM list is massive too not quite sure how I'm going to fit all mine and hers in the trolley

averytiredmom · 30/04/2020 15:44

Thank you lisette, there’s 3 there somewhere, ones hiding on the floorGrin

Thank you lane, that’s DS2, his hair is gorgeous!, DS3 has hair just as blonde so I’m hoping his turns out the same. I’d love a bigger room, the playroom is also our dining room, and as you can see, laundry room. Our kitchen is just off that and is tiny!. And then the biggest room in the house is the boys room which is HUUGE, but doesn’t look that big because there’s 3 in there. I’m hoping to get a bigger place once they’re older, even a 3 bed would be nice. Maybe with a separate dining and living room because when they get older I could move downstairs and they’d all have their own room. Daydreaming about itGrin

Lisette1940 · 30/04/2020 15:45

We are bribing with mini twix bars here - the hour long family walk is a bit of a chore.

We3 hope you get inside that Asda soon

averytiredmom · 30/04/2020 15:48

we3 I am glad that my 3 are too young for actual school work. I have zero control over them so I’m not sure how I would get them to work. Chocolate bribery does sound the way to go, mine would be bribed with blaze and the monster machinesGrin. Good luck with the shopping!. I haven’t been out so I can’t imagine what it’s like

LaneBoy · 30/04/2020 16:13

Ohhh I would absolutely love a separate dining room tbh! We were pretty lucky with our house though (HA property via housing list)

Managed to finish watching Twelfth Night and set up the living room again (how did we have so much to clear up already after less than 24h?) as DS is now “in” tap class :o he got a perfect from the teacher already so I’m being all proud :o

Done nothing else from the to do list today. And just realised I need to add finding the blue belt patterns for DS as he realised last night that he’s entirely forgotten! Oops. Apparently they’ve set up a YouTube channel for the school.

Still got to do the money stuff, don’t know why I’ve procrastinated so much.

Can I just admit here that I think today’s biggest achievement is “didn’t order KFC”

OP posts:
foxessocks · 30/04/2020 17:08

Sorry haven't caught up properly but your KFC mention made me think lane I could really really have done with a takeaway tonight, pizza would have been amazing, but I'm nervous of it thinking have they washed their hands etc 🤦‍♀️
Has anyone had a takeaway recently?! I'm aware I sound bonkers as I said earlier I'm not washing my shopping!

Anyway, I've made home made chips now because I needed something comforting, having with fish fingers and probably some bread and butter because I am starving and it's making me very grumpy!

Will catch up on the rest now!

foxessocks · 30/04/2020 17:25

Ok I've skim read sorry my brain is so frazzled right now but I do want to say sorry ED for your loss Sad

My positives from lockdown are that I've spent more time doing craft things and drawing etc with the kids than before, I used to give them things like that to do while I was busy but now I join in and they love it 😍 . I've also (before he went back to work) spent much more time with dh than probably ever before and that has been really nice, all of us together just doing fun stuff has been a definite positive.

Achievements...I think the fact that I'm still trying to keep the kids busy and learning despite this week being extremely challenging is something to be proud of!!

Unfortunately I'm not that proud of myself today because I've shouted way too much (my throat is sore) and I've been far too negative about dd work and probably too hard on her...which isn't like me but I think I've reached my limit this week! Ds has been having constant tantrums today which is something he hasn't done for a while I think he wants my full attention back! I also picked another fight with dh when he got home from work.

I just need to start afresh tomorrow I think (which is what I said yesterday Confused)...

Sorry that was long and very moh
An.

foxessocks · 30/04/2020 17:26

Sorry don't know what happened to the end of my post there 😂 that was me just giving up I think!

LaneBoy · 30/04/2020 17:38

I have had a couple of takeaways - I decanted onto plates immediately (the first time I’d not already got the plates out so I regretted it as of course I’d already touched the bags, so the second one I made sure I had them ready), threw all the packaging away, and washed my hands. Also best to only order hot food apparently but TBH the risk from food is thought to be very low anyway apparently?

OP posts:
averytiredmom · 30/04/2020 18:36

Mine is a HA too, I was planning to move when I got pregnant with DS3 but then me and ex broke up so can’t afford it now. It suits us for now, and if I can’t find anywhere in a few years then I’ll just have a sofa bed for me.

fox I haven’t had takeaway but my DF has and has just done as lane said

ExpletiveDelighted · 30/04/2020 18:51

We've had a takeaway most weeks, Chinese or pizza, plates out, decant, wash hands and eat. No KFC for about 10 miles here but I made a pretty passable home version the other night. Used a lot of oil though.

Stilllivinginazoo · 30/04/2020 19:03

very my D's had crop blond curls like that.its now a pony tail midway down his back and darker.weight if it means it's wavy not ringlets anymore

averytiredmom · 30/04/2020 19:05

zoo I hope my boys keep their hair long, I love it.

Lisette1940 · 30/04/2020 19:09

zoo you're right ☺️

ExpletiveDelighted · 30/04/2020 19:11

I have a long haired DS too, only in the last couple of years (he's 16), it does suit him. Proper ringlets.

LaneBoy · 30/04/2020 19:19

I am ridiculously excited that our KFC has reopened (obv for delivery only) today. I have missed it 😳 and am hoping McDonald’s follows suit soon, mostly because it is at least very cheap - we were talking about maybe having a takeaway once a week as something to look forward to but the stuff we all eat that’s still open is fairly expensive.

I’ve not really managed to get motivated this evening. It’s been a stressful day trying to get DD1 to work - that I totally sympathise with the bare minimum done by DS1! If it weren’t for her struggling already I’d take a much more relaxed approach but I feel like she’s disadvantaged enough already.

DS by contrast is absolutely flying at the moment. Another positive of this situation is all the educational resources that are being offered - it’s really helped us out of the rut we were in and he’s becoming enthusiastic about subjects I didn’t think he would.

Also I think I’ve suffered from not doing my workout today (no endorphins flying about!) so I’m going to get on the exercise bike later or do some yoga. I’ll make sure rest days aren’t do nothing days in future (we haven’t gone for a walk either, rain was heavy)

Jar curry for dinner. Caglets had burgers made by DS but Cagletini is enjoying some of the curry too - “I like ‘picy” 😂

Also thank you all for such lovely words about the thread this month :) ❤️

Fluffiest · 30/04/2020 19:32

Ooh I love all the takeaways. Only had 1 since lockdown started, which was a very satisfying Indian.

sly sorry that you've had a frustrating church experience. zoo that sounds like a lovely thing for your church to do.

foxes tomorrow is a new month, so that's why your fresh start didn't happen today. Cant possible have a fresh start on the last day of the month Grin

Today I did my actual job, so no flying apart from making tea and washing up.

Lisette1940 · 30/04/2020 21:13

new thread

Lisette1940 · 30/04/2020 21:13

That was meant to say new thread link in case anyone missed it.

KTCluck · 30/04/2020 21:27

Hi everyone. Minimal ta Das from me:
✅ yoga
✅ dusted ornaments etc in living room
✅ work

Will do dishes and shine sink before bed.

ED I’m so sorry for the loss of your friend Flowers

Such a shame about your holiday fluff. We were planning our first trip abroad with DD this year but didn’t actually have anything booked. We also had a girls weekend to Portugal cancelled which was our first proper trip away together for years. I know people are facing far worse right now but it’s still very disappointing isn’t it. Hope you get an amazing holiday next year.

Foxes we’ve had quite a few takeaways Blush. Sorry you’ve had such a tough day. We all have shouty / snappy days. Don’t feel too bad (bet it wasn’t completely undeserved by DH and the DC Grin).

We3 your DS is very cute and I love those hobbit houses! I’m assuming they are fairly close to me so will need to hunt them out once we are allowed to travel again. DD would love them. I’m not washing shopping either. Just hands washed when I get home, then after unpacking, and after preparing the food. I’d probably be more careful if one of us was high risk though.

SC hope DD is feeling better tomorrow.

I know I had others to reply to but I’ve been catching up sporadically all day so I’ll just wave to Zoo, Bower, That, Chic, Tired, Happiness, Megiddo, Hazel, Stressy, Cineraria, Strawberry and send apologies to anyone I’ve missed (I wrote that out once already and managed to delete the whole paragraph and I’m positive there was an extra couple of names the first time!) thanks to you all for being good company and helping me through the longest month in the history of the world!

Lane well done to your DS on his ‘perfect’. Love the photo. Thanks so much for being a fab thread leader, it’s much appreciated. I’ve looked forward to KCC every day. In answer to today’s the positives for me have been a simpler life. No pressure to go anywhere and do anything. Just the three of us enjoying each other’s company and a slower pace of life. My achievements are getting started on the garden (though that was mainly DH) and not falling out with said DH other than the odd brief bicker.

Lisette thanks for offering to do May. You’ve got my feeling motivated already. We’ve got this!

LaneBoy · 30/04/2020 23:07

Last minute tiny surge of Getting Shit Done:
💥stint on exercise bike while watching iPlayer - this is the way forward I reckon, the iPad fits nicely on the display screen so I can watch and not get bored! Back to my new workout tomorrow though as I don’t want a rest day to turn into just not bothering.
💥paid into savings before deadline
💥renewed gym membership before deadline - fantastic offer and until the year actually starts (when the centres are allowed to reopen) we get the online workouts it seems? So will give them a go - there were some classes I was too nervous to try IRL so could be a good chance to get a feel for difficulty level etc!

I did eat too much chocolate though. And I’m still hungry Hmm

Anyways I’m off to the new thread, thank you all again, and here’s to a motivational May thanks to our new host Lisette! Over and out! 💜💙💚💛🧡❤️
